  1. Its false, there won't be a download manager in SP2. RC builds are feature-locked. He probably got confused with the popup-blocker blocking downloads. It shouldn't be too much of a job for MS to add a download manager tbh, the File Transfer Manager commonly used on windowsbeta.microsoft.com seems decent enough for simple file resume jobs.
  2. Possibly. I will have to check the update.inf file in the hotfix to see what registry changes its trying to make.
  3. If your OS isn't english, then "Administrators" may be named differently. Open up a command prompt in Windows XP and type out: net user JeyJey 00 /add net localgroup Administrators JeyJey /add Then check lusrmgr.msc to see if your username was added with Admin priviledges.
  4. 3Com/Intel are decent network cards. There's also some cards which support dual 100mbit ports, or even 4 if you're wanting faster bandwidth.
  5. Have you made sure that WMP8 updates are applied before importing the registry tweak?
  6. Well I'm being careful in what I say because lots of members here run their unattended installations in different ways. Sometimes they may execute more runonce keys and have them run on subsequent reboots. Look at it this way: if RunOnceEx is the last thing being run, and you're planning a reboot after that to normal desktop usage, then import the key via RunOnceEx.
  7. hmm, you are right, I'm not at all sure if transparency can be applied to bitmaps. What I did was take the colour of the system properties window and set this as the background colour. It's true that it will look odd when a different theme is used. An alternative is probably to use a border round it so it can be distinguished.
  8. You can only have one detached program running, not multiples. Batch files could do multiple things, but they won't work at T-39 mins (its very limited what you can run at that time).
  9. And this is what happens when you remove those CD ident files
  10. See: http://greenmachine.msfnhosting.com/READING/HFComp.htm
  11. Yes, put it in RunOnceEx if this is the 'last unattended method' being run.
  12. Shouldn't be too much of a problem as long as 5 people or more don't visit the webserver at the same time otherwise it'll slow down.

  14. http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archives/tests.xml?200402 Looks OK, couple of failures in the past but they're improving: http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archives/pro...s.xml?avist.xml But no better than Symantec
  15. Possibly because it launches a seperate process which makes RunOnceEx think its finished. Use the sleep.exe tool (on Downloads page of Unattended XP CD site) to get RunOnceEx to hold for a period of time. On an unrelated note, it may also be better for DirectX9 to be installed before the ATI Graphics drivers.
  16. Slipstreaming the update rollup is what's causing the boot screen to hang. This affects some people (no idea why). So it may be better to install it as an individual hotfix instead.
  17. I don't see how doing that is going to solve the problem. This isn't the Unattended Windows forum.
  18. I think I remember seeing a batch script recently on this forum that asked questions to the end user to create a new username and the group to assign the new user to.
  19. It looks like you have done it already: start /wait %systemdrive%\install\Applications\Office2003\setup.exe TRANSFORMS=Unattended.MST /qb-
  20. Did you use jdeboeck's batch files before doing gosh's reducing size of source method?
  21. post edited to wrap oempnpdriverspath line
  22. Is it the Secret of Mana?
  23. Is 817787 in your svcpack.inf file?
