  1. Windows Update Catalog - Not recommended for the typical n00b! they could install updates which aren't needed at all and end b0rking up the system!
  2. That's cos we've been down for 2 months, all the search engines remove us from their listings. We will jump back in their listings eventually soon.
  3. always backup the main game executable when you are about to apply a no-cd. e.g. rename the original file to rollercoaster_old.exe so that whenever an update comes out, you can apply it when you rename rollercoaster_old.exe back to its real filename. This way you won't have to reinstall the game if an update needs to be applied. If this doesn't make sense, then sorry, i'm too stoned!
  4. cheers sed!

    Xp Sucksssssss

Got over 50 games here, 40 new ones and 10 old, all work perfectly in XP Pro. Better than win2k does.
  6. Do you know the direct link to the high bandwidth .mov file? so I can download it to my hard drive and show my mates later (saves downloading again, which takes ages on 56k)
  7. It was called Virtual PC www.connectix.com
  8. Yes Service Release 1 = http://download.microsoft.com/download/off...S/O2KSR1aDL.EXE Service Pack 2 for Service Release 1 = http://download.microsoft.com/download/off...n-us/sp2upd.exe
  9. The reason I don't like it is because it looks a lot bigger, and ZoneLabs have made it harder to find the advanced options.
  10. And its crap. Back to 2.6.362
  11. Ok I've flashed it, and the floppy is able to boot bootable disks now. I have to do more testing to see if the CD-RW is detected after every reboot. so far so good.....
  12. ok, its the MS6163-PRO V2.0. Just looked on my mobo. Gonna flash it now. bbl
  13. MSNWar - I can't flash when I don't know what Mobo i exactly have.
  14. I'm having trouble trying to find a BIOS for my mobo. Its an MSI-6163 model, but theres three different types on the www.msi.com.tw site. And none of them support my 800Mhz processor (strange?) SiSoft Sandra 2002 says its an MSI-6163 Mobo with a 440BX chipset. The POST screen also says 440BX at the bottom. I flashed my LiteON 2 weeks ago to the latest firmware, didn't help with the BIOS detection of the secondary master. I can't find a firmware update for my DVD drive, the model is: MATs***A DVD-ROM SR-8585
  15. Microstar 6163 with 440BX Chipset, 800MHz Intel P3 Processor LiteON 24x10x40 CD-RW The CD-RW sometimes fails to be detected from a normal reboot. On a cold reboot it detects fine (so far... only shutdown completely about 3 times) Can't be a flat battery, all my settings are as I set them long ago. Windows Explorer in Win2k and XP act strange too (see attachment) Happens after I browse a lot of folders then this appears out of the blue. Opening another instance of Windows Explorer fixes it, but it does eventually happen again. I ran CHKDSK on both of my hard drives, nothing strange reported.
  16. I know its not XP related, but BIOS related, here goes: I recently installed my new LiteON CD-RW in my PC. And found that when the BIOS tries to detect the secondary master it comes up as None. I reboot again and it gets detected. If it detects as None, then win2k or xp continously makes my HDD light flash full-on when the PC is not in use. Another problem I'm having is that my floppy refuses to boot anything natively. I tested my Win98 boot disk in Virtual PC (an alternative to VMWare which other people use) and the floppy boots fine (so its not damaged). Its stressing me out and I feel I'm about to chuck my PC out the window.
  17. That game sucks. No wonder it got 49% in this month's PC Gamer mag
  18. Its a great game, but I suffer the lag too on a Athlon DDR 1.3Ghz. Finished it in 3 days :spaced
  19. whoa, big page. I bet every network admin doesn't know what every port is used for!
  20. The books suck really, tells you stuff you already know. If you see some of the good stuff on the KB database, you can see if a particular product has a bug, if its due to be fixed, patch availability, command line switches for some of the programs, etc. You won't get any of that in any XP Books.
  21. Microsoft or another site could create an HTML Help file with all the MS KB articles in it. Could take a very long time to start with, then updated monthly.... An idea yes?
  22. Yeah... but that still requires the Internet. What I really meant, is that I wish all of the MS KB articles were on CD so that I can access some of them from CD when I'm in an area with no net access, for example, my LAN (which my other PC is at) Useful site anyway, thanks piaqt.
