  1. get this one its $52 +$2 SHIP at Newegg: Apollo A5200 Geforce FX5200 128MB DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail
  2. i just got one of these. this is the best burner, and the best deal. a no brainer imo. [edit] i see i was a bit late.
  3. DropMyRights (free) (164kb) from Microsoft This is a very useful little program! It allows you to run apps as a limited user, when you have admin rights for example. The best situation for this imo would be the typical home user that prefers to do everything from the administrator account including Internet and Email. This would make web browsing and email safer in those situations. [add] This program doesnt slow down the launch of the application, and its a completely invisible process. You just create a shortcut to DropMyRights followed by the App. For Example: %programfiles%\DropMyRights\DropMyRights.exe "%programfiles%\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" %programfiles%\DropMyRights\DropMyRights.exe "%programfiles%\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" %programfiles%\DropMyRights\DropMyRights.exe "%programfiles%\Maxthon\Maxthon.exe"
  4. I didnt bother to visit the laundry list of claims, except your claim that you can get spyware using while using Firefox. at that link it say the problem was introduced 07/05/2005 and was fixed 08/05/2005. Btw seven of your links are broken. And alot of these 'exploits' arent as serious as the ones present in Internet Explorer. Please try again If your going to use IE, why not at least use Maxthon?
  5. P2P is legal. It has many legitimate uses everyday. Use common sense!
  6. download GSpot Codec Information Appliance. It will tell you what codec the file needs and whether or not you have an appropriate codec installed to play that media.
  7. I really doubt malware is ever going to be a problem with Firefox for alot of reasons. You can get the NoScript extension which really would make an exploit dificult. But thats all i wanted to say, just checking/keeping the awareness up
  8. Hey JonPalanis welcome to MSFN. Judging by your post count, i would guess you havent been assualted by the Firefox gang yet. Me and many other people now use Firefox (or some other alternative web browser) to surf the internet, malware/adware/spyware is a thing of the past. Try Firefox, I bet you see all this stupid stuff dissapear. You can find firefox quickly by just clicking on the promotional button in my signature. [edit] I should add that Firefox is free and opensource.
  9. whoa, so with the exception of the new mass storage drivers, i can just copy the new Driverpack_*_.7z's to the OEM folder (used M2) and im instantly up to date!? No need to re-slipstream; do anything else!? Im pretty satisfied with the last version of the Mass_Storage driverpack, so i can just leave the old version for now.
  10. like ripken204 i also havent had a problem with spyware AT ALL after switching to firefox. In fact after switching several freinds and family to firefox and running adaware after 3 months it found nothing, and these were NOT limited users (non-admins). You can also use an extension in firefox called NoScript, and be incredibly safe. Also i dont mean to hijack the thread at all, its just that i can confidently say that spyware and adware are pretty much a thing of the past with firefox.
  11. dont directly link to the files
  12. cheers for the update!
  13. Welcome to MSFN Meelmark. You dont need nlite to use these driverpacks, its a seperate process. If you want to use both nlite and these driver packs, use nlite first, then add the driverpacks afterwards.
  14. Thanks, checking this out. Its mp3's and not in english obviously. The tapes are recorded phone calls.
  15. I add them manually when i think the word is important enough. Very easy to do with Firefox and BBCode. Consider which is more likely: "God created man in his image" or "Man created god in his image", and the motivations for the latter. As someone mentioned The Matrix definetly had religous overtones, but it also thundered the idea that most people prefer to be lied to. The machines knew this, its explained that's one reason they had to create the matrix; just giving humans what they really wanted. People care more about being comfortable than being true. I used this quote in another topic, but it apply's here as well: "it is easier for the world to accept a simple lie than a complex truth." - Alexis de Tocqueville Just to be clear im not against religion or spirituality. Im against corporatized religion, lying, and hypocrisy.
  16. m8rk I know that if I turn on Web Filterting in ZoneAlarm, turn off Real Time Filterting, and Block unrated webpages, its technically impossible for something i dont want to get through. I know its not free, but its the best ive found. Before each page is loaded it checks it against the BlueCoat database. click on 'Advanced'
  17. do you want to remove items from the context menu or disable right click completely? Disable or Remove items from menu: ShellExView (freeware) Disable right click: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ;Disable the Ability to Right Click on Desktop and in Windows Explorer. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer] "NoViewContextMenu"=dword:00000000
  18. You can put the themes here on the CD XPCD\$OEM$\$$\Resources\Themes that will copy to WINDOWS\Resources\Themes Use a patched uxtheme.dll, nlite can do this for you. Also consider these Royale like themes: ModBlue 1.1 http://www.deviantart.com/view/14216339/ RoyalFour 1.2 http://www.deviantart.com/view/10955957/
  19. You do have a shared folder on your pc right? I have an axim x3i, and a Netgear WGT624 Wireless Router, i've been using Resco Explorer to map the network and swap files. They have a 31 day trial and its one of the most useful ppc programs so try that and see if it works. You could also download the ARM Cab file directly to your pocket pc and just double click it to install (reccomended).
  20. First just wanna say use the edit button I dont think Limited Users can make changes to the registry. If you turn off simple file sharing you could change the permissions and deny write and modify for non-administrators for any or all folders Since you are using different user accounts you could edit the other firefox profile. You could edit the file (as administrator) to remove the menu bar (forgot how to do that). Or use certain extensions, for example the Lock Tools Menu Extension to password protect the Tools Menu. If you need web filtering I reccomend Zone Alarm Security Suite, its also a good firewall and antivirus program.
  21. by the way it hasnt been mentioned here yet, but an easy way to sort the Start Menu alphabetically and recursively is with CCleaner (freeware). Its a great little program, and you could set it to run at startup or right click on the recycle bin.
  22. You could just create the shortcuts in advance and place them in the $OEM$ folders and they'll be copied automatically. For example: \XPCD\$OEM$\$Docs\All Users\Desktop \XPCD\$OEM$\$Docs\All Users\Start Menu\Programs You can also use the %ProgramFiles% or other Environment Variables in the shortcuts.
  23. do you have a wireless router? And are you using XP?
  24. its really nice, but its still version 0.3 beta which has quite a few bugs. This seems to be the official forum for it: http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/forumdisplay.php?f=81
