Safely Remove Hardware Icon(that everyone hate)
DigeratiPrime replied to ripken204's topic in Windows XP
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ;[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] ;"HideSRHi"=HideSRHi.exe [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] "HideSRHi"=HideSRHi.exe Also you can create a shortcut to open the Dialog box Without using the Tray Icon. Just create a shortcut to: %windir%\System32\RUNDLL32.EXE shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll -
Safely Remove Hardware Icon(that everyone hate)
DigeratiPrime replied to ripken204's topic in Windows XP
Hide "Safely Remove Hardware" icon http://www.tweakxp.com/tweak123852.aspx Also the Icon is in the stobject.dll (icon group 210) file in WINDOWS\system32 so maybe it can be hacked out. [edti] ResHacker method will create a blank space in the tray. -
Owned with the Start menu change
DigeratiPrime replied to SuperSniper's topic in Customizing Windows
If you google "change start menu button text" it will immediately return several guides on how to do this. http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/791/ http://www.tweakxp.com/article139459.aspx http://www.theeldergeek.com/change_text_on...tart_button.htm I dont think you need to break the button for this to work though. -
Reformating is usually the easiest or fastest way to fix any software or driver problem, because instead of spending time to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it you just wipe the slate clean and start over. Hence the reason Unattended Discs are so popular! You can quickly get back to where you left off Others may tell you to try a "Repair Install" from the Windows CD, or troubleshoot this further. Your decision. Its almost impossible that a driver update could cause any damage to the hardware, the only cases this usually happens is if overclocking. IT sounds like you are using a Broadband or LAN connection, have you tried reseting your Modem or Router?

First, Welcome to MSFN. Is the new network card the same as the other one? Also when you uninstall it with Device Manager, do not let it automatically detect the drivers. Point it at the correct/original ones. PS. I dislike System Restore and disable it, its more harm than good, imo.

Control Panel > add/remove programs > Check the "Show Updates" Button. And uninstall it. ? Also can you find out what hotfix/update it was?

I hate to almost advertise it, but I think Acronis Disk Director is a much better deal for only $15 more USD. They also have a Free Trial. Plus You can create a Bootable CD from it, so you never need to install it again. http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/diskdirector/ I 'try' to keep it simple. C:Windows D:Program Files E:Documents & Settings F:2nd HDD G:3rd HDD H:etc

Dps Poll #1: Would You Prefer A Lite Version?
DigeratiPrime replied to Bâshrat the Sneaky's topic in The General Stuff
im not sure. in one way i think having a LITE and FULL could make more work, and confuse some end users which one they need. One size fits all is a very nice thing. Though it would also be easier to deduce problems in the pack since there is less files. In an organization having it all on one cd is probably needed, but most organizations have standardized the pcs they're using. If you install from DVD/LAN I see NO reason NOT to get the Full version, since its all loaded off the cd and not copied to the Hard Drive. So im indifferent about it, personally I will continue using the Full packs even if a Lite one was made. -
I really like the All-In-One Printers HP makes. I find it to be a good balance between price, user frendliness, and function. They can be aquired very cheap after MIR or eBay.

About once every 2 or 3 months for my personal machine. Usually because it takes less time and does a better job than uninstalling software. I do alot of testing in VMware which reduces the frequency of physical disc reformats.

Acronis True Image, Better Than Norton Ghost
DigeratiPrime replied to albator's topic in Software Hangout
every product Norton makes, someone else makes better and cheaper. Acronis makes far better partitioning (Disk Director) and imaging (True Image) software than Norton. Dont even bring up their Anti-Virus/Security Software, its utter crap. -
The best just got better.

I voted no. It isnt wise to put all your "eggs in one basket". What if the phone is damaged or the battery dies? Or if its is physically stolen or the communication is hacked like WEP? Monoculture is dangerous, I prefer that my bank, home, car, each have there own security scheme.

*new* Hp All-in-one Printer Software & Drivers
DigeratiPrime replied to DigeratiPrime's topic in Hardware Hangout
I dont think these drivers will work for your HP Printer, its not listed in the Codebox above. Have you looked on HP's website? I found this: Software & Driver downloads HP PSC 750 All-in-One http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...#9001;=en&cc=us -

DigeratiPrime replied to durex's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I know this doesn't provide the exact solution your looking for, but you can easily disable the Service from running. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ;Security Center [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wscsvc] "Start"=dword:00000004 Full List of Components http://unattended.msfn.org/global/components_list.txt -

You can find them by searching for Software for the newer models, NOTE HP uses the Same Driver pack for all the all-in-one printers. They should work on all the All-In-One Printers, HP is just neglecting to update the links on previous models. Here is a direct FTP link to them if you want em: FULL 365MB (added software) BASIC 49MB (just drivers) I extracted the contents and sorted the INF in a Spreadsheet program, here is a list of Printers referenced in the Driver Pack: ; hp officejet 4100 series ; hp officejet 4105 series ; hp officejet 4200 series ; hp officejet 5500 series ; hp officejet 6100 series ; hp officejet 6200 series ; hp officejet 7200 series ; hp officejet 7300 series ; hp officejet 7400 series ; hp photosmart 2600 series ; hp photosmart 2700 series ; hp psc 1000 series ; hp psc 1100 series ; hp psc 1200 series ; hp psc 1300 series ; hp psc 1310 series ; hp psc 1600 series ; hp psc 2100 series ; hp psc 2150 series ; hp psc 2170 series ; hp psc 2200 series ; hp psc 2300 series ; hp psc 2350 series ; hp psc 2400 series ; hp psc 2500 series Just FYI!

This thread is 3 months old, but its relevant. Im using WMP10. I installed the Tray Control for WMP from the WM Bonus Pack, but it doesnt "minimize to tray" when I minimize it. Instead it goes on the taskbar as normal even with the tray control open. In order to hide it from the taskbar i have to manually right click on the tray icon and choose "hide media player", if I left click on the tray icon, it just pauses/play the current track-it doesnt unhide the player which is what i want. Quite annoying. I want to get the player to behave more like MPC. Any thoughts?

Nintendo unlike Sony and Microsoft developed its own technology from if any recall the N64 Rumble Pak, which was the first Force Feedback controller for a video game system. Nintendo's Patent predates the Immersion one. From slashdot post: Link: http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?...do+AND+feedback Go Nintendo!
