good post prathapml this gets asked every week, can we get a clean post like that and have it made a sticky in this section?
-
this seems to mainly be an update for the Control Center, does anyone actually install that version? I always get the Control Panel one, it seems less bloated. Nevertheless keep us updated!

Safely Remove Hardware Icon(that everyone hate)
DigeratiPrime replied to ripken204's topic in Windows XP
Either that or understand what the code is actually doing, and make the changes permanent. I will look into this a bit as soon as i can, maybe someone else can explain what is happening in this code? -
the way i look at it is: if you have a "Media Center PC" you should have a DVD Drive. Seriously, having no DVD drive must mean a weak Media Center. Time to buy a DVD drive imo.

As I have mentioned, the problem is the different chipsets. I believe we could avoid confusion if instead of JUST stating our motherboards, we explicitly name the Southbridge Chipset and the SATA Controllers as well. It looks like all Motherboards with the VIA VT8237 Chipset have the same problem. Hope this is'nt redundant, I just want to make it clear.

Unattended Install
DigeratiPrime replied to mikeintampa69's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I actually have the same error right now. You said you have a VIA K8T800 chipset, thats the Northbridge, but whats important is the Southbridge, the VIA VT8237. That has the Promise SATA controllers. I have a different motherboard, but the same chipset, and the same problem. The integrated drivers at least the BTS Mass_Storage ones, arent working at the moment i believe. Corrrect if I am wrong. Also you cannot use Drivers from F6 if you're using an Unattended install. They wont copy. This is a big problem, I cannot do an Unattended install on my best computers. I only started having this problem today, so I may be missing something. [edit1] Apparently its a known problem. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=41275 [edit2] And id bet the 'BSOD users' all have the same chipset. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=42820&st=0 -
http://forum.tweakxp.com/forum/shwmessage....essageID=153356 [edit] ironically this is the first result i get on google from "view folder settings". http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=view+...G=Google+Search

I did see an error message during slipstream, not sure how significant this is. [edit] Im using Method 2. Driver packs were slipstreamed AFTER nlite with ryanvm update 1.2

I just posted under the BSOD thread, still having problems with a VIA VT8237. A Sil3112a board worked fine though. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=ST...=30#entry301027
-
ok just tried it with V5.04.6. I tested on two Motherboards using the same SATA hard drive for both. It worked fine on the Epox EP-8RDA3+ which uses the Sil3112a driver. On the VIA VT8237 I get an unknown disc on the partition screen during windows setup. It finishes copying files, reboots, the boot screen appears for a few seconds and then BSOD. I have BTS_DriverPacks_BASE_V5046.exe and use all the latest driver packs except WLAN.

excellent, I will try this in a couple of hours.

thunderbird "minimise to tray" extension
DigeratiPrime replied to prathapml's topic in Software Hangout
i use this with Firefox too. A 'must have' extension. MIRROR: http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?s...=minimizetotray Someone just needs to enhance the Notification Area for new email so its par with Outlook, this has been mentioned on mozillazine forums. -
you know you can hide the pie chart thingie by clicking the arrow button thingie... I bet they skipped a version so people would think its newer than Perfectdisk 7, which it really is of course. [edit] so how does this compare to aforementioned PD7? [edit2] something i said could have been mis-interpreted.

Bsod After Copying Over Setup Files
DigeratiPrime replied to S0mE0nesMiNd1's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
OK, found this post actually from Google, originally thought the problem was due to MBR. Have not ruled that out yet though. During Windows Setup after it finishes copying files, and reboots, after the xp boot screen I get the BSOD. Will update BTS Driver Packs, as according to this thread: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=42820 And report how that goes. -
Bsod After Copying Over Setup Files

BTW maybe the thread should be moved? I just searched and found this. Im reading these links btw: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;324103 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...124120121120120 -
Bsod After Copying Over Setup Files
DigeratiPrime replied to S0mE0nesMiNd1's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Im getting EXACTLY the same problem as the original poster. Worked in vmware, but not on a real pc. Same stop message, same time, etc. This is a SATA Hard Drive, the Drivers from the Mass Storage Pack have worked before. Has this since been resolved? I'll reply if i figure anything out. -

Safely Remove Hardware Icon(that everyone hate)
DigeratiPrime replied to ripken204's topic in Windows XP
great work, I made a basic SFX and CMD file to do that yesterday but I noticed that the SRH icon would load AFTER the HideSRH.exe would run. Is that also the case here?
