  1. I have looked up the 'peng' program you mentioned, it seems you are interested in using AOL on Linux. I do not understand why you would want to use AOL at all. If you need to access you email have you tried using IMAP in a program like Thunderbird? Tunderbird FAQ: Can I read and send AOL e-mail using Thunderbird? Also I would really reccomend checking out Fedora and Ubuntu, they're both excellent, user friendly, plus they cost nothing.
  2. I did download the Fedora Core 4 Test 1 about 2 weeks ago, but had problems installing it on a pc. I know Test 2 just got released, but im going to wait and spend more time getting to know Ubuntu first. I'll probably wait untill Fedora Core 4 Stable is released (June) before i try it since i dont enjoy downloading new dvds every week. And then in October a new version of Ubuntu, The Breezy Badger! 3. Welcome to MSFN You mentioned you are using a Unattended CD, have you looked at doing this in WINNT.SIF? http://unattended.msfn.org/global/reference.htm Also this topic has been brought up, so you may find what you need by searching the forums.

  5. Coming from Fedora 3, I'm really impressed with Ubuntu. I am going to be setting up a machine with only Ubuntu soon. I found a good comparison of Fedora and Ubuntu that some may be interested in: Review: Fedora Core 3 Vs Ubuntu Warty Warhog Of course I will be trying Fedora again when v4 is released.

  8. Are you getting the profile selection window when you (re)start Firefox? That happens when it does not properly close. You can terminate the process with the Task Manager. Are you using Firefox 1.0.2? If not, backup you bookmarks.html file, uninstall firefox, delete your profile folders, install the newest version, and copy back your bookmarks. That way you are up-to-date with a clean profile. Also its possible you may have some extension causing the problem? Also consider searching the Mozillazine Forums for potential answers. http://www.mozillazine.org/
  9. are you using CCleaner? That app can clear that infomation. Otherwise: Does this happen everytime you close Firefox, or reboot the computer? Or is it a random crash or bug that is causing it?

  11. You can join a domain during Windows setup if a network card is detected, since CD1 is really just XP Pro SP2. CD2 is the MCE disk, once that is installed the option to join a domain in System Properties is greyed out, but this has been 'patched' a while ago. If you do connect to a domain Fast User Switching is disabled and you cannot use a Media Center Extender. http://www.neowin.net/comments.php?id=26497&category=main http://www.vortex-scratchpad.info/
  12. Are you using Windows XP? And does this happen if you right-click and hit save as? aaanndd, check out these alternatives to that app you mentioned: Autoruns StartupRun

  16. I havent tried it but I suppose if you had the wmv file on your hard drive you could convert it to another format, play it in another media player such as media player classic, or prevent the update.
  17. i knew about drm2wmv, but i heard that didnt work on some wmv files right now. It looks like MS patches WMP when you go to play the files.

  22. first... Try Searching. Second... DON'T DOUBLE POST! Try this: Click Start, and then click Control Panel. In Control Panel, on the Tools menu, click Folder Options. In Folder Options, click the File Types tab. In Registered file types, scroll down to AVI and select it. In the Details for 'AVI' section, click Change. In the Opens with dialog box, in the Programs area, select Windows Media Player, and then click OK.
