  1. To take the 15 mins to use a domain login script and adjust the system time using a valid NTP server?
  2. The parts you picked are just fine. As for the video card, check this one out. Small, silent, cheap and more then powerful enough for what you need: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814121019
  3. Plus you get a thumb back AND forward button.
  4. Squares mean that they are non-displayable characters.
  5. Nice work. It's amazing what batch files can accomplish sometimes.
  6. Yes - these were NON-security updates, and thus were not publicly released. Customers wishing for DST patches (whether W2K or Exchange 2K) needed to pay $4K USD to get them (NT4 and Exchange 5.5 were more expensive, BTW, as they were out of even extended support). Umm... who in there right mind would pay $4000 just to be able to have the correct time in W2K? Wouldn't it just be cheaper to upgrade to XP?
  7. At this moment, no one has contributed towards making one.
  8. Good for you, but I was replying to your comment on how one could be secure using IE. I'm just saying that its possible to use IE without third-party software and remain secure. The best option is, of course, to not use IE. Why not? I've never used anything other then IE. IE 5, 6 and now 7. I've never had any problems with it.
  9. What's the hard drive and what's your motherboard?
  10. Looks like JEDI to me.
  11. @echo off echo Waiting for an internet connection... :TRYAGAIN ping -w 1000 -n 1 internet.com>NUL if errorlevel 1 GOTO TRYAGAIN if errorlevel 0 GOTO OK :OK notepad.exe
  12. What you just explained goes on to support what I said. With SATA you simply don't have to take even the time to think about things like that.
  13. In all honesty, by reading your specs and what you want to do, I believe the best option for you is to build yourself a new system completely. Prices keep dropping and technology keeps advancing. Replacing an AGP video card at the prices you're looking at is like trying to replace a carburetor for a brand new one when everyone's switched to fuel injection. Unless you plan to make your computer a collector's item, it's simply not worth it. Like I said, I'd tough out what you have and simply build yourself a new system with a brand new motherboard using the new generation Xeons which are built on the Core2 Duo platform. Getting yourself a PCI-Express motherboard with your new system would also make a lot more sense in allowing you to keep up with future upgrades.
  14. Looks like a good combo. The only thing I can't comment on is pricing since I'm not used to dealing with pounds.
  15. Perhaps if you used a batch file or script file to verify ping response from the server and wait until the server pings back.
  16. I think what he needs is a way to disable the copy, move and delete functions from the explorer shell. Perhaps a custom shell would be more appropriate.
  17. Dude, that's not even my sig and I think that's freakin' rad. Nice work.
  18. I think you added way too many options for your poll. A simple yes or no would have been enough. I voted no. The reason is simple. Anonymous written abuse and spamming.
  19. I wonder if we'll ever get fiber-in-home in Canada.
  20. External sound card?
  21. It's not that I listen to Zxian per se, it's that I listen to facts. I don't care who brings them to the table, but I always base my opinions on the truths at hand.
  22. Ditto on what nmX.Memnoch. You're asking for a system but you only list four components. Do you already have other components such as the hard drive, optical drive and case?
  23. Better conductivity, higher quality signal integrity and less EMI interference.
  24. Are you serious? Are we talking $4000 for development costs or $4000 to the end-users?
  25. The only thing with IBM is that I HATE their support pages. They're so cluttered and hard to navigate/search.
