  1. With nLite (http://www.nliteos.com), you can integrate IE7. With jcarle's WMP11 Integrator (http://wud.jcarle.com), you can integrate WMP11. With addons, you can integrate .net 1.1 and .net 2.0 (i don't think there is a working addon including all three yet). Live Messenger can be integrated using addons as well. The difference with the IE7 and WMP11 integration described above is that the source itself is updated, rather than added to. WMP11 integration this way can add approximately 40 MB to the ISO size, so most go with a WMP11 addon.
  2. Why thank you! I will try this plugin without hesitation!
  3. Video playlists are not a feature of MCE 2005; do you have a plugin that allows you to do so?
  4. Is it possible to automatically play all the videos within a specific folder within MCE 2005? I notice that after you play one video, it always asks if you want to restart or delete. Is there a hidden option somewhere to enable users to just play the next video? This would be helpful when watching a series. Thanks in advance.
  5. What programs are starting up on your computer? Is this an nLited XP installation or a normal XP installation? When did you install XP? Have you defragmented your computer? Have you tried bootvis? Have you run disk cleanup?
  6. Do you have any IE6 updates being integrated?
  7. The online translators really aren't that great after all. Are there any Japanese volunteers who are willing to download MindArms and create an English Manual?
  8. A Japanese to English translator can be found here: http://babelfish.altavista.com/
  9. Best free 2D fighting game: MindArms (latest release is v. 0.60b): MindArms Website Although it's in Japanese, it looks good enough for the Game Boy Advance. I wish there was an English manual though...
  10. Please post your last session.ini...It would be interesting to know what still remains in that installation and how functional it is...it would also help if you explained fully how you acheived said results...
  11. Post your last session.ini
  12. I was wondering this as well...I suppose it will be possible with an XPize type pack once he releases the source code. Then, you could create a pack of icons that could be integrated using nLite, just as XPize is compatible now.
  13. believe it or not, nuhi is busy working on both...sit tight and relax, the releases will come after extensive testing as usual...
  14. What about the page file? Are you getting messages about virtual memory needing to be increased? Are you using Firefox, the great browser with the achilles' heel, memory usage? Perhaps you should consider disabling services you don't need or eradicating them altogether and other components with a fresh install and nLite (http://www.nliteos.com). You should also probably provide a list of installed applications. I have the same amount of ram, and I wish I had more, but I'm not using the majority of it unless i'm running 7-zip, Vmware Player, or Firefox.
  15. You can always disable UAC, but for the most part, you're right...since they are releasing a version of DirectX 10 for XP and my XP even has the official vista sounds, background, xpized icons (my desktop icons are 48 x 48), vistacg visual style, ubericon, lclock, vista fonts, and yahoo widgets, I don't need Vista. I only have it installed for comparative purposes and I have not had the chance to use ultimate, but how much is there that is not in Enterprise? There is a website, http://www.fromvistatoxp.com that some programmers are taking Vista API and porting actual applications from Vista to XP. One day an "XPize"-type pack may come out with high-resolution Vista icons, if one isn't out already. Like with 98, people are working to make XP the best possible. With the cost of Vista Ultimate (the only version woth buying), you could definitely upgrade your desktops or put a down payment towards a more powerful laptop and get XP cheaper. Vista is a disappointment (http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/12/01/1610244) in many areas and deserves very little credit, but again, if you have the hardware to support it and the patience to wait for application updates, then go for it.
  16. do you have more than just IE7 installed?
  17. No offense, but you seem a bit bitter. I'll admit, the missing boot logo annoyed me and no raid support does seem a bit silly. However, just like with the introduction of Windows 2000 and Windows XP, there were lots of programs that required updates or patches to work in the new operating systems. Driver signature enforcement should be able to be circumvented by tweaking settings in the MMC, just like disabling UAC (user account control) can be done from the control panel. UAC is a bit annoying, but it does alert any time a change to the system is about to happen to ensure that it is something desired. Additionally, XP is definitely faster on my machine than Vista, and I'm not even using glass (I can't on my Thinkpad R51). As far as the folder naming convention of dropping the "My," that's not a flaw, just a weak change. Unfortunately, it seems that weaker systems have been left high and dry with this release, even systems like mine that are just 3 years old. In terms of buying new hardware to buy a new operating system, that doesn't seem smart at all. I have a pentium M processor 1.5 Ghz but it doesn't seem to matter so much. It moves, but you can tell the difference (I'm dual-booting, recommended for those who want to try before completely switching). There are negatives, but there are positives, like the Aero interface and the new volume stack which allows per-application volume management native to the operating system. The search ability is a rip from Mac's spotlight and I keep my files organized enough to not need it, but it's still nice to have just in case. This is an issue similar to the XP/98 issue; you're going to have advocators and dissenters regardless of the OS. The facts say that 98 is less stable simply because of the way it handles all programs in the same memory space. However, in terms of the Vista/XP battle, Vista's kernel is just an improvement of the W2K3 kernel, and some of the features previously promised like WinFS are missing, and over all it seems to surpass XP in almost everyway, IF you have the hardware for it. If not, then you lose more than it's worth, honestly. At first glance, it looks like a pretty XP and it works like a pretty XP with barely audible system sounds. My XP looks a lot like it now, especially since i'm using an official Vista desktop background. My synopsis: who knows, who cares, but hardware and application compatibility will make or break the deal for whoever is questioning (I'm using Vista Enterprise)
  18. In Windows XP, going to Start --> Run --> sendto brings up the "SendTo" folder in which shortcuts can be added or deleted. Drives can be added by creating shortcuts here.
  19. Has anyone heard of MindArms? It's a freeware japanese 2D fighting game that is very impressive for its graphics, gameplay, low system requirements, and potential...it looks as if it should be released on a game console! However, there are some moves to this game I can't learn how to do because I don't know japanese...can anyone help? Here is a link to the website: http://tryefstudio.hp.infoseek.co.jp/ You can download it from English pages easily by searching Google.
  20. Is your WMP11 integration the first modification to your XP source? I find that if it is not that problems arise.
  21. In keeping up with the feature of XPize to include icons that can be scaled to larger sizes, are these Vista icons also capable of doing so? A complete replica of the Vista Start Menu complete with 128x128 vista icon support would be great! VistaCG has been one of the most popular vista visual styles to date...it will be interesting to see what you come up with!
  22. here's a link to configure gaim: http://www.system7designs.com/blog/configu...for-googletalk/ try googling next time, that was really easy to find!
  23. Gaim talks to all five; ICQ users can talk to AIM users natively and Google Talk can be configured using the Jabber protocol...
  24. Here at UNC, we are testing a service called Iron Mountain. As I'm typing this post, I'm backing up my documents for the first time. I'm not sure if there are any data restrictions, nor the cost for an individual, but they just updated their software and it seems to be a nice solution with automated backups and security in mind.
  25. Respect goes a long way....try it!
