  1. Why not just change it to professional? MCE 2005 is professional with media center basically, but without certain functionality pertaining to network domains. None of these three editions should prevent you from doing that; what program did you use to do home recording?
  2. Will Contig work on 98? If so, perhaps Contig in collaboration with Power Defragmenter will help you defragment a lot faster: http://vistarewired.com/2007/02/15/defragment/
  3. If you have the .reg file, double-clicking it should give you a prompt to merge the keys and values into the registry.
  4. I thought you were referring to updating the system, not the addon.
  5. Does this addon really install all three versions of the .NET Framework? Cool! After updating the addon with the Service Pack 1 for .NET 1.1, this addon will be perfect! Thanks for your hard work.
  6. Have you not heard of the VAIO project? The http://fromvistatoxp.com group has create a group of libraries that allow patching files and applications for use with Windows XP. It hasn't been updated since February, but it was complete enough to port the Vista Sidebar! Here is a link to download the Windows Vista Sidebar (complete with VAIO XP): http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=485 Hope this helps!
  7. Is Engergize going to add ViStart from http://www.windowsxlive.net? What about the Windows Vista Sidebar? Is it still in production?
  8. There is a tweak for Windows XP made by a program called Pitashio that can allow you to double-click in the white space of a Windows Explorer window and go to the parent folder. Is this a registry tweak, and if so, can it be included in nLite?
  9. I've always wanted to create a replacement for this plugin using the .NET Framework (for simplicity). Windows Media Player 11 is a fantastic player with the addition of dynamic library searches and a completely renovated interface. The slow burning, however, is annoying, and the only logical explanation for this burning method I could find would be legal in context, since iTunes can burn like Nero Burning Rom plugin could, directly (on-the-fly). If anyone knows how to get this started, feel free to tell me and I'll begin work on it.
  10. What version of Windows Media Player are you using? If it's beyond version 9, it won't work.
  11. I thought that nLite keeps the latest versions of the updated files found in the hotfixes, at least from my basic understanding. Wouldn't this, in theory, be somewhat equivalent to your suggested feature?
  12. Daemon Tools was just updated to 4.09.1. Thanks for your good work!
  13. This is what I've been waiting for, a Vista pack that will include large icon support, possibly the VAIO Sidebar, Vista Drive Indicators, and more. Keep up the good work, let me know if I can help at all...
  14. Concerning patching icons for Vista icons, do you have large (at least 128 x 128) icon support? If not, do you need assistance, and if so, how can I extract these necessary icons? I want an XPize that makes XP look like Vista; it also probably wouldn't hurt to incorporate what Ricktendo has been working on as an addon, the Vista Sidebar for XP/2003 (which requires VAIO), at least as an installable option.
  15. What program are you using to play your mp3's with the transparent skin?
  16. The new Google screensaver is definitely a cut above the previous screensaver; I like the fact that it shows the title and author of the default pictures from the web feed. However, what is necessary to make the screensaver show a title and author of pictures on my computer, short of creating my own feed?
  17. copy - ctrl + c cut - ctrl + x paste - ctrl + v
  18. I'm not sure if this is a good example, but Windows Vista can only be installed using NTFS; additionally, why would Microsoft begin to give NTFS as an option besides FAT32 if there were benefits?
  19. Try putting the file in your keep box under components.
  20. @mr.brownstone - where did you get that spider-man background, or did you take the dark and normal backgrounds and fused them?
  21. Could you post an updated screenshot, since it's been a while?
  22. what does bump mean?
  23. Go to the manufacturer's website and download software drivers for your laptop's hardware for Windows XP and burn them to a CD. That way, when you install Windows XP, you'll be prepared. Software drivers will enable Windows XP to understand how to use certain pieces of software that it cannot understand how to use natively or even improve how it's used.
  24. I installed the Darkside logon and I'm impressed; however, i think that the Windows XP logo on the logon is not quite as clear as the logo found on the original logon, if I'm not mistaken...
