It seems that there are hotfixes and other updates that deviate from the norm and nLite has to compensate for those hotfixes. A lot of times, it just means that the next release might be the answer to your question, since nuhi takes into account the latest hotfixes, since security is of the utmost importance.

I didn't read all of the thread, but I do know that if you google for "magic jellybean key" you will find a piece of freeware that shows you your product keys for xp and office (if installed). -
No Windows Login&LogOff Sounds!HELP
tap52384 replied to magic_man's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
did you use nLite? if you removed the beep driver and or disable system beeps, there is a stated bug that by disabling those beeps disables the system sounds (startup, logoff, shutdown, etc.). -

Is this better than using Aim Ad Hack? Also, Aim Pro seems to also be a good upgrade for the basic AIM 5.9. It's still in beta, has no advertisements, supports tabbed documents, logging, and the same plugin support as AIM Triton (the UI hasn't been created yet, but the plugins themselves are supported).

Then, to cater to the original URL request, why not create a right-click context menu option to copy the URL of the update to the clipboard? That doesn't seem like that would require too much...

There is a way to install WMP 11 Beta 2 unattended without any alterations, and I apologize if my question was borderline worth banning me. What I did was simply create a silent switchless 7zip installer after extracting the files from the package and used this switch: setup_wm.exe /DisallowSystemRestore /AcceptedPrivacyStatement /SkipPrivacy /Q:A /R:N After making the silent installer, I was able to make a .7z addon using NLPC. Worked like a charm. Is there a changelog for this beta (other than the one posted at Microsoft that's very vague)? I wanted to know what exactly they fixed and know is still wrong; as of yet, it still does not add pictures to its media library. Please remove this post if it goes against any rules.

This release requires online validation...is there anyway to get past that? More importantly, is there any way to install this unattended?

Try changing your computer name (Right-Click My Computer --> Properties --> Computer Name tab) and reboot.

To second that reason, I remove Internet Explorer and keep the IE core components and possibly the activex functionality. Then I use the IE Tab extension for Firefox which utilizes the IE engine for rendering web pages, instead of having to switch from one browser to the other. And because you essentially still have Internet Explorer functionality, why not shave off a few MBs from your Windows XP ISO? *I keep Outlook Express for Outlook 2003 functionality.

When I remove the "User Account Pictures" component, it also removes the ability to choose any other pictures in the future. Is it possible to seperate this into two components, one to remove the ability, and one to simply remove the pictures themselves? Also, could it be possible to, in the same place you select oem branding, to select the nLite logo as the default user account picture?

So to clarify, this is the same nLite beta from yesterday? Testing it now.

I was going to test this, but since there is a 1.1 beta coming out, i'll leave the testing to those with more time. It is impressive that there is support for 7zip'ed addons, but I am also curious as to how that would work. Is DirectX update integration in the works as well?
-
I would like DirectX to be integrated. There was an emulator that I had come across that required the newer directx files, so it would be beneficial to have those already integrated into the operating system.
-
That would be most beneficial to combine the nLite addon maker into the nLite program itself, to further the setup customization experience. Additionally, I agree with the ability to allow opensource plugins and keeping nLite closed. The ability to run nLite from a command prompt (unattended) would be superb as well. I also second the removal of more components, which further makes nLite even more amazing than it is already, and possibly a mini-wizard for constructing the $OEM$ folder. Perhaps add a feature for files to ADD to the system32 folder to be compressed using 7zip. Finally, I definitely support nLite staying closed, for this program is big enough to get a job anywhere. I would like updated descriptions of example programs that missing components depend on and what the functions of the components are. Additionally, could there be a listing within the description of each component that specifically lists the files that are removed?

I don't understand...haven't 1.0 Final been released for at least a week now?
-
Is it possible to include a feature to update or integrate the sdk updates for DirectX?
-
I thought i had fully removed Nero Scout, but it seems like I did not, despite following those directions. In any case, I was able to reduce the file size a bit lower to about 116 MB uncompressed.
-
If someone has a way to do it, I can upload my reduced Nero 7 that works...The only programs that I tried to keep were Nero Burning Rom, Nero Express, and Nero CD/DVD Burning Plugin. When 7zip'ed, the installation was reduced to 29.4 MB! Then you would just run the install command outlined before.
-
Don't forget the SetupX step, where you run setupX until you get to the first screen and then cancel. This will not work if you already have any sort of Nero product installed, so I had to do this in VMWare.
-
I followed your directions except I made a few modifications: 1) I kept the CD/DVD Burning Plugin 2) I deleted the folders that corresponded to the features I didn't want, more specifically: *all folder names have [FILELOCATION] in front of them; this is the step after making the administrative install Nero Home Nero WaveEditor InCD Nero 3D Nero BackItUp Nero CD-DVD Speed Nero CoverDesigner Nero ImageDrive Nero MediaHome Nero PhotoSnap Nero Recode Nero ShowTime Nero SoundTrax Nero SmartStart Nero Vision After that, I attempted the install and noticed that it asked for only four files that I had deleted: [FILELOCATION]Nero Vision\NT\GCCapture.ax [FILELOCATION]Nero Vision\NT\GCHW.dll [FILELOCATION]Nero Vision\NT\GCCore.dll [FILELOCATION]Nero CoverDesigner\CoverEdCtrl.ocx I imagine that if you keep these files, you'll be able to install Nero 7 without a hitch.
