  1. If you want to do this yourself, why don't you simply use the method outlined on the Unattended MSFN Guide for "using modified files." This way, you'll be able to place the uxtheme.dll file directly into the Windows XP source: Unattended MSFN Wiki Page Else, use nLite nLite Homepage
  2. I must apologize again--I didn't specify that I wasn't using the installer to put Universal Extractor on my system, but it was a part of SA Utils. Is there any way with just the binary archive to force associations with Universal Extractor, like the option during the installation process?
  3. I'll try rewording my question: How do I configure windows such that it knows that Universal Extractor is the program that handles archives? If Windows is aware, then the icon used to represent archives will be just like the one for Universal Extractor. I just want to see a context menu item when I right-click archives as well as executables.
  4. If these files are modified versions of those that already exist on the Windows XP cd, you could just replace them in the I386 folder.
  5. Since this program uses 7zip to do a lot of its extraction, is it possible to add a few more file extensions for which Universal Extractor will work with? That way, there would be no need to install 7zip at all and the programs efficiency would go up tremendously. Additionally, I would like it if those filetypes (archives) would use the Universal Extractor icon. Here are some filetypes I can think of currently: zip, tar, rar, gz, cab, rpm, z, iso, 7z, bz2
  6. SA Utils is a great set of programs, and I never fail to include it in my unattended windows XP cds to install during the RunOnceEx portion of setup. However, a lot of the programs included, especially Universal Extractor, which also relies on 7zip, have been updated and made even more useful than before. Could you release an updated version of SA Utils? Thanks.
  7. If i recall correctly, wasn't Aim Ad Hack bought by AOL not too long ago? Does that mean that it's no longer trustworthy or what?
  8. Is it just me, or have some recent hotfix prevented installations made with this program from working?
  9. I noticed that if you are installing XPize for an existing system you can customize what is installed, when for an XPized iso, you cannot...are options for the ISO building feature of XPize going to be added in the future?
  10. i know right, someone has to have one premade with vista icons...
  11. I look at these desktops every month and they are fabulous. I think that it should be required to post the vs name, cursor, wallpaper, widgets, etc. It helps to know what we're looking at.
  12. I just chose any inf from those available and they install the chipset drivers just fine...i remember in 0.99 beta they didn't work, but they've been working now for quite some time
  13. You should start at the "beginner" page to learn all there is to know about creating an unattended xp cd, especially the $OEM$ folder. The guide is at this page: Unattended XP MSFN Guide
  14. Search for a program in this forum called Shrink Office.
  15. Is Winamp not capable of playing video files? If it could, then it would be my primary and only player, since there is an Ipod plugin and it has a media library, not to mention its incredibly low memory usage compared to just about everything else. However, in my experience in trying to make Winamp as versatile as MPC, I haven't been successful. My players are primarily WMP 9 + Nero Burning Rom plugin and MPC 6.4.8.7 + K-Lite Mega Codec Pack.
  16. I noticed that this wonderful application uses 7zip technology. Is it possible to add file associations to Universal Extractor? Since it is like having 7zip installed, might as well use that functionality with *.zip and *.7z files as well. Just a thought.
  17. Don't get me wrong, this reg file really seems promising--however, what about registry size? With 8000+ domains, that will add it seems you would be safer surfing the net, but will this possibly hurt system performance at all? Will this list of domains be accessible to alternative browsers, like Firefox and Opera? Honestly, the blocked domains really seem like a good idea, but do the pros outweigh the possible cons?
  18. Try this Google search...from the results, it seems that yes, it has something to do with MSN 9. Google Search
  19. what is VLK? I don't think it would be supported, since it seems to not be a legitimate version of Windows XP. That's not to say that it wouldn't work though.
  20. On a personal note, I went from Java to VB .NET, and the switch was easy. I've never coded in VB6, and since Java is object-oriented VB6 seemed more difficult.
  21. Why not use nLite to integrate hotfixes? The process is very clean since the program removed redundant files and then repackages the cabs, resulting in a smaller source.
  22. 1) nLite 2) Mozilla Firefox 1.5 + extensions 3) Alarm Clock 4) Windows Media Player 9 5) CdBurnerXP Pro 3 6) Rainlendar 7) Google Desktop 2 8) Media Player Classic 9) Visual Studio .NET 2003 10) Microsoft Office 2003
  23. Someone could opt for making an nLite add-on that does all of this for you, or a sfx-archive, or some other installation method.
