  1. Wrong topic - I bought the Patch 2014 and I found a few bugs on Win ME. Rudolph Loew fixed them. Version 7.1 became version 7.2.
  2. I haven't checked that in a long time. The clamtray runs in the background and uses 21MB. I rarely use the scanner and then only for one file. I guess it's some years ago that I scanned a whole partition or HDD. Yes, I'm very surprised that the Database folder has grown in the meantime to 1,4 GB, hence it isn't strange, that Clamscan uses up to 960MB during the test after loading that DB. That is really a lot. I have 3,3GB RAM - CPU Core2DUO E8400, real machine. Clamwin.exe uses 31 MB.
  3. I've Win ME and don't have any problems with latest ClamWin 0.99.4. KernelEx should be disabled for it, otherwise you have at least ugly buttons. ME and 98 are still supported. "ClamWin is a Free Antivirus program for Microsoft Windows 10 / 8 / 7 / Vista / XP / Me / 2000 / 98 and Windows Server 2012, 2008 and 2003." I don't believe that there are still AV alternatives with daily virus database updates. I liked AVG 7.5. It was was possible to use the manual database updates until August 2018. As far as I know you also can't get any database updates for Avast 4.8. In any case, the programs have discovered attacks very rarely, so the use is questionable. If then mostly false positives. Probably it's better to use only WinPatrol (Registry monitoring) on ME or 98. This could be still interesting: Unofficial ClamWin patch for Win98SE
  4. This could be caused by certain fonts. My menus are OK. My System font is Tahoma western and I just tried MS Sans Serif western. That is also fine. It's known that MS Sans Serif causes something like you described in Firefox.
  5. https://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdownloads.asp?model=m6twg I think I recall that Intel Version 6.3.0.1008 was the last official chipset driver for 98, not 7.0.0..1019. I would install the chipset driver first and then the graphics/video driver.
  6. This information does not help us. Do you have exclamation or question marks in the device manager? And where? Did you install a chipset driver? Please install a system information program, e.g. Everest 2.2 (2005 free) or a later trial version and give us the information about your motherboard/chipset and the graphics unit!
  7. Required: KernelEx 4.5.2 + Kext [Advapi32.dll] LsaAddAccountRights= - and set the executables and dll files to win2000SP4 Then everything should work except drag and drop.
  8. I'm sure there are answers in relation to Win95 in the VLC forums. VLC media player for Windows Troubleshooting Search for Win95. VideoLAN ForumsProposal continue support Win95/98/NT4
  9. I fetched the printer out of the basement, connected it to the test machine and installed the driver. The cartridges don't work, but basic function tests are possible. System WinME, latest KernelEx core updates and both aux dll files. (No ComDlgKs.dll) FF31.8 (mode - XPSP3) crashes if I try to print! At the latest when I press OK. Sometimes the Print Preview worked. Faultlog: Datum 06/18/2020 Uhrzeit 17:17 FIREFOX verursachte einen Fehler durch eine ungültige Seite in Modul KERNEL32.DLL bei 0177:bff7834f. You added different experimental print modes (but ME & 2K). I think these are meant for FF 3 up to 9 and other programs.
  10. "apz.allow_checkerboarding" is twice in UOCP for38esr - both true and false.
  11. Set OMTC "layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled" to false solves glitch of FF 33 -35, that the window is not completely displayed. This setting seems to make FF very unstable while scrolling. That needs more testing.
  12. First 31.8esr portable removed - added 35.0.1 portable
  13. I found this: The Flash plugin npswf 21.0.0.242 works with plugin container deactivated: dom.ipc.plugins.enabled;false and dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs;-1
  14. I added another 31.8esr portable with extensions CTR, PlainOldFav and the switcher QuickJava (javascript, style, Image ...) to the first post. QuickJava makes it easy and fast to toggle between enabled and disabled. There are many other JS switcher extensions, which may also be interesting. I tested many prefs, but so far, I have little to report. The UOC Patch is optimised for P3 systems and for speed, but less for stability. On my systems FF isn't slow in any case. The settings I tried generally had no effect. The Adobe Flash plugin must be disabled, otherwise FF will crash. Tested with FlashPlayer 21.0.0.242. I also installed and tried 32.0.0.363 without success. This version doesn't work in old FF versions, too, on ME/98.

  16. Hi Wunderbar98, my real name is Markus, as I said my lowest start was with ME, IE6SP1, DirectX9c and KernelEX with the latest update files - not more. A test without IE6SP1 and DirectX is still pending. looking4awayout states DX9c is necessary for his patches. Mozilla gives XPSP2, CPU with SSE2, 512MB RAM and 200MB hard drive space. But yes, FF31.8 doesn't run perfect, it happens that it freezes or crashes on some websites, but it is much better than Opera 12.02 or FF24 here. By now too many pages are no longer opened and give errors like Unable to complete secure transaction Show Details Secure connection: fatal error (40) from server. Of course, there are differences between 98 and ME. Just recently, I wanted to focus the investigation more on the hardware.
  17. Thanks, it's confusing. Latest Sheet.dll is in Update 21. It is file version 19. In Update 18 is file version 18.
  18. I tested the UOC Enforcer and the UOC Patch briefly on my i915/Pentium630 machine without major changes. The FF version was 31.8. I removed only the WebGL settings, because of the blocked WebGL renderer. Those prefs must be effectless. The latest ME/9x graphics drivers and also my graphics card are fourteen years old. There's no support for OpenGL ES 2.0. FF seem to be (perhaps) a little bit slower, but it ran. It was only one short test.

  20. I don't have new tweaks for FF yet. I tried to understand the structure of KM(76) a little better.
  21. looking4awayout - thanks for confimation Apparently I have much fewer problems with JS than other members. I don't have a VM and I have no hardware or a running system of the Coppermine/Tualatin/Willamette era to test. There could be some, but not many JS settings to make FF 31.8 more stable here. I think it runs almost as good as on XP. So that makes not much sense to experiment with the UOC Patch here on my systems. But I will take a deeper look on my i915P/Pentium630 machine. Requirements for the UOC Patch: A DirectX 9.0c capable graphics card with at least a 128 bit buss A 800MHz CPU or faster for better performance Enough RAM to support New Moon 27/Firefox 45 ESR SSE and other Roytam1's Mozilla based browsers Maybe we should take a special look on the graphicscard and their drivers. I think it is helpful to make a "Hardware/Driver/VM/RealMachine/IE version/directx/rating" list of your systems with regard to the Javascript problems. To compare: My system: Real Machine, Win ME, IntelG41, Core2Duo E8400, 3,5GB Ram DDR2, NV7800GT (256MB) - Driver NV82.16, directX9c, IE6SP1
  22. I would like to come back to K-Meleon 76.x. I think it could or should be possible to use it. It is an option to see youtube videos again. I believe there is only a small step necessary. I can start it (exe and xul to XPSP2+) and the shell/UI doesn't seem to be as buggy as of KM74, as far as I can judge that in offline mode and as far as I can test, it is even possible to save bookmarks without the runtime error - But not readable. Jumper is able to get online and I guess roytam has the knowlege and skills to fix the mainly garbaged KM menus on ME/98. The menus are unreadable since KM75.1. You can argue about the KM's beauty. To play youtube videos FF 43 is required and it is currently more apart than KM76. I don't know, if it has already been said somewhere, skin dbTango is a good choice for KM74.
  23. USB 2.0 for ME - I use this driver as long I've Win ME. It must be installed manually. It usually works well, but I should remove the stick before I boot to ME again. Depending on the system, it can make a patition muddle for the session. The sys files must be in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS after installation. Driver on MDGX
  24. Yes, it was and is baffling me, too. VLC doesn't need Msvcrt90. My experiments with Msvcrt90 always led to errors. But if I remember correctly, I never have checked BWC's Msvcrt.
  25. It's for 38 ESR based browsers, but very likely many of the prefs are also suitable for FF31 or 35.
