I've FF35.0.1 portable running. The last version with VS runtimes 2010. 36+ doesn't start here. I see msvcr120/msvcp120.

Issues: I can't add bookmarks, too and History don't work. The same old problems with versions 4 up to 11. The extension Plain old Favorites 1.3.1 works in 31. HyperBK isn't compatible with version 31 anymore. There should be other bookmark / history extensions compatible to FF31. Input in adress bar doesn't work on 31, but usually on 24. Customizing can have missing buttons (31). Profils of other FF versions can cause a crash on start or FF could be sluggish. About:config doesn't open via adressbar. But I opened it via Options - General - startpage (31). Search Engine List is empty (FF31). A ntdll.dll of XP has done the job, too, in a test.

The most important and decisive step was to replace the ntdll.dll (4.90.0.3000) by the one of the unofficial service Packs version 5.0.2195.7080, (XP versions not testet) but only for the engine - XUL.dll. Only Xul.dll needs the ntdll.dll. I replaced it by the ImportPatcher: [DLL replacements] ntdll.dll=9xdll.dll The renamed ntdll.dll can be in the system or program folder. I think the step was made possible by the latest KEX updates. Test System ME, KernelEx Update 24, the VC++ runtimes, hjsuffolk14's me service pack,.........., Xul.dll and FF.exe set to XPSP2 or 3. I see a little cosmetic glitch in the tab bar of FF31. After hours of setup a test system, tinkering and testing I'm running Firefox24esr port and Firefox31esr port on ME! Javascript seem to be no problem. FF38esr is not yet running here. 38 closes sillently or crashes on start without to open the GUI. Later I tell how it works. I write on FF31.

Yes, hjsuffolk14's service pack (22MB) seem to be lost along with the whole topic here. Last week I tried problemchilds UWMESP3.EXE Beta 5 (size 67,2MB). I enabled the main updates in the in the infex.ini, but the Pack was unusable for me. A lot dll files were missing during installation, and afterwards ME wasn't bootable anymore. Obviously the Main updates aren't finished and are for logical reasons disabled. hjsuffolk14's service pack is much smaller, but OK.

What 2K/XP/Vista/ReactOS dll files and versions do you have in the system or system32 folders? Have you registered any? Or only a ServicePack? Is there anything that could be different in your system in contrast to others? A special Kexstub.ini? No ideas?

This version requires Kext and at least msvcrt.dll of ME, better msvcr70.dll.

First April s over. I tried to disable Javascript in Prefs.js (user_pref("javascript.enabled", false);). And I still can't start FF 24esr (portable). Message: Couldn't load XPCOM. I'm sure there must be more to do than set Kex to XPSP3.

There are five backups by default listed by date. A backup is user.dat, system.dat and system files like system.ini and win.ini. It's possible to add more by scanreg.ini.

A system reset had often helped me out of a tight spot: At DOS Prompt (F5) change direction from A: to C:. Type: C:\windows\Command\scanreg /restore , and choose a backup.

Try to reinstall the msi: Rename in safe mode msihnd.dll, MSI.DLL and msiexec.exe. Reboot and install 2.0.2600.2 again. My files are set to Legacy Base enhancements (MSI.DLL and msiexec.exe ) and msihnd.dll to default comp options.

As I said only a few apps or installer can be fooled with it, also on ME/98SE. Most programs also check the OS elsewhere.

Open the Registry and create a new string value: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion] "CurrentVersion"="5.1" That applies to ME/98SE (KernelEx) and probably for 95, too. It might work for a few apps, but usually it makes no sense and leads to problems or crashes. I do not recommend that.

Make sure you have Core Updates 4.5.2016.18 or higher. Don't use update 17. Otherwise maybe a missing dll.

thanks! what about Marvell cntrls? there was big problem - ahci driver make system unbootable if found any Marvell... its ver 3.0, which i already has tested. problem remain... I tried the AHCI Driver 3.0 on a Asus P5B (i P965/ICH8) three weeks ago. Afterwards ME wasn't bootable anymore. But, it was just one test so far. I plan to have a closer look soon. It might be that I had done something wrong.

A little feedback: Today I updated to 24 on a second machine. New problems have not yet occurred, however so far I haven't done extensive program tests.
