  1. Hmmm, try going literal : https://it.godaddy.com/domains/searchresults.aspx?domainToCheck=windowstwothousands.com&checkAvail=1 or become repetitive https://it.godaddy.com/domains/searchresults.aspx?checkAvail=1&tmskey=&domainToCheck=win2k.win https://it.godaddy.com/domains/searchresults.aspx?checkAvail=1&tmskey=&domainToCheck=windows2000windo.ws https://it.godaddy.com/domains/searchresults.aspx?checkAvail=1&tmskey=&domainToCheck=win2000win.net More possibly suitable https://it.godaddy.com/domains/searchresults.aspx?checkAvail=1&tmskey=&domainToCheck=lastgoodwindows https://it.godaddy.com/domains/searchresults.aspx?checkAvail=1&tmskey=&domainToCheck=2Kforever jaclaz
  2. OT, but not much, from time to time it is good to boot DOS/Win 3.xx OS (on relatively modern/fastish hardware) to have a feeling on how a fast startup (and also a fast shutdown) should behave, i.e. NOT half-@§§edly saving the stats of a zillion services (largely unneeded BTW) on the previous (fake[1]) shutdown and then re-load the whole lot at next "fast" startup, i.e. essentially trading time removing from the (next) fast startup and adding to the (previous) slower shutdown a bunch of seconds. jaclaz [1] That being a fake shutdown, as RLoew called it, a mini-hybernate mode, it can easily cause havoc
  3. Which Law? Where/Under which jurisdiction? jaclaz
  4. And, if you want to thank someone for limiting the spreading of the virus (actually only preventing the encryption) by sheer luck (but sometimes things go better than one would expect ), check here: https://www.malwaretech.com/2017/05/how-to-accidentally-stop-a-global-cyber-attacks.html jaclaz
  5. From your source: An image is worth a thousand words: http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/wp-content/blogs.dir/445/files/2012/04/i-8bdf6089f2aa915f34a3cf7cc1c35975-funny-pictures-cat-says-your-disease-is-incurable.jpg jaclaz
  6. Or possibly you want this: http://code.kliu.org/misc/elevate/ jaclaz
  7. I am not sure to understand why that would hide the menu and bookmarks bar, this screenshot (taken from the given thread) seems to me fine : jaclaz
  8. Do you mean like: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/10629/vivaldi-ui-customisations/3 jaclaz
  9. The DEV 8CA2 is inside the Lynxpoint-HRefreshSystem.inf (get from the given page the "b) mod+signed AIO package with the latest "pure" Intel Chipset Device INF files (shown with the correct dates)" The DEV 8C82 is the Intel SATA Controller: https://pci-ids.ucw.cz/read/PC/8086/8c82 Try the drivers here: http://www.win-raid.com/t11f23-Modded-Intel-AHCI-and-RAID-Drivers-digitally-signed.html jaclaz
  10. Post the actual VEN (very likely 8086) and DEV ID's for that, someone may be able to help you, with just "SM something" you won't likely get any valid assistance. jaclaz
  11. See here: http://www.win-raid.com/t895f42-Intel-Chipset-Device-quot-Drivers-quot-INF-files.html jaclaz
  12. Ow come on, that is a sort of "sticky" of trhe Bad Gateway you had before, the 0.96q downloads just fine here (if coming from BlackWingCat page), try clearing browser cache or use another browser, anyway I am attaching it. jaclaz mftr096q.cab
  13. Addition, seemingly the new Surface Laptop will run this abomination-of-the-abomination and you'll have to pay US$50 (besides the not-so-cheap US$999 for the laptop base configuration 4Gb Ram 128 Gb SSD) to "upgrade" to the "real" Windows 10 (unless you are quick and do the upgrade before end of the year, does it sound like someone needs to hit a quota of some kind?). The good news is that most probably Store Apps won't have issues with its "queer" resolution of 2556x1504 (that will likely be lots of fun for a number of developers). https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/05/microsoft-makes-a-regular-old-laptop-the-surface-laptop/ http://techreport.com/news/31831/microsoft-surface-laptop-is-a-velvet-gloved-jab-at-macbooks The 14.5 hours of battery life (even if probably valid only for light usage) sound VERY good though (at least until the I presume non-user-replaceable battery gets full charge). jaclaz
  14. A new name for the "Windows Store Only" strategy (that already failed) : and : a pure marketing attempt, seemingly, I don't believe that there is anything particularly "lite" (unless you want to be forced to the limited amount of - BTW largely crappy - Apps in the Store). jaclaz
  15. Well go to this page: http://blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/archives/1394816.html find on it the link "v0.9.6q": http://w2k.flxsrv.org/cgi-bin/dl.cgi?file=mftr096q.cab and click on it, the "Bad Gateway" error should mean that you need to have the BlackWingCat page as referrer (or something like that). jaclaz
  16. I am not sure to understand. 0.9.6q is on blacwkwincat's page: http://blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/archives/1394816.html Direct download: http://w2k.flxsrv.org/cgi-bin/dl.cgi?file=mftr096q.cab jaclaz
  17. And before I forget: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/173201-gavottes-ramdisk-automation-package/ jaclaz
  18. Are you implying that jaclaz is actually the last of the dinosaurs? To put it in context the machine running XP SP2 is a (pretty stationary) desktop and uses wired network, no fancy Wi-Fi for it, no Sir. jaclaz
  19. You'll have to read (and digest) the info here (lots of info ) : But, what do you mean you are "stuck" at that error? Seemingly that is a warning, not an error, when does it show (in the dos part, white on black), right after that? (if anything) Or do a "step by step boot" and find out what causes it, likely it is a "DOS=HIGH" command in config.sys and HIMEM.SYS failing to access high memory or not found. Both the 8Gb and the 1 Tb hard disk (provided you want to install 98 on the latter) are however - loosely - what I call "looking for troubles". I cannot remember if it is actually possible to install Windows 98 "normally" with so much memory , surely the hard disk drive may work if - and only if - you can make a very small partition on it at the beginning (I personally would try with a 1 GB FAT 16 partition, but a FAT32 partition 3 or 4 GB should be OK, and up to 32 Gb should work as well, accessing the rest of the disk - at least as much as possible - will be a "later" problem). jaclaz
  20. I am not sure to understand. The page you provided a link to does list audio drivers, actually two of them, and Nvidia video drivers (while you just stated that you used for video the Intel ones). Did you install ALL the drivers listed on that page (or only a few, and which ones, and which ones gave you errors or *whatever* issues)? Do you have any question marks or exclamation marks in device manager? (if you attempted to installa and half-way installed some "not suitable" driver it is possible that installing the "right" one is prevented) What are the EXACT version and manufacturer of each driver you installed (since you have already unpacked the HP Softpaq's you should have this info)? Do a thorough check (inventory) of the devices on that laptop, using (say) SIV: http://rh-software.com/ and post the relevant hardware data. Maybe the same "DV 2000" comes (came) in different versions/submodels with different hardware? The DV 2000 should have Broadcom Wi-Fi (and bluetooth) cards, the Wi-Fi should be a BCM94311MCG, maybe here: http://www.x-drivers.com/catalog/drivers/wireless_networks/companies/broadcom/models/bcm94311mcg/ (not necessarily a "generic" manufactuirer driver will work on a OEM board, but it is worth a try). jaclaz
  21. You mean that actual Enterprise IT executives actually suggested to MS that they (MS) should drop support for the older (perfectly working BTW) machines they (the Enterprises) already have in order to be compelled to buy new hardware? jaclaz
  22. Should be inside the "whole" package "win6x_registry_tweak" here: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/152688-win6x_registry_tweak/?do=findComment&comment=1111330 jaclaz
  23. I have not any of those card, sorry for the possible misunderstanding I created, the "Windows 2000" I was referring to was MSFN member "Windows 2000", not the OS "Windows 2000", let alone "my" "Windows 2000" OS install (that runs when - nowadays rarely - I use it on a good ol' mini-ITX VIA motherboard and its on-board graphic card). I guess we could state that MSFN member "Windows 2000" chose not the most original (nor the least distinctive) username. jaclaz
