  1. Thanks for the posting
  2. Understand the issue about being signed on two systems with same User-ID; that is a problem as I am not willing to go through the process of creating a separate identity just to link the two systems. To me, a waste of time - it would be easier just to copy the files/folders/info I want to copy/move from one to the other to a flash drive and accomplish things that way. Win7/8 were setup the same way as XP - no Homegroup, just put them in the workgroup as I had been using for XP. Besides, Homegroup is not compatible with XP so using it is out of the question. Reviewed the comments in your links - guess I'm not the only one wanting to network two or more ystems the way I had mentioned. Thanks for the info - this posting can be closed.
  3. Let me clarify for tain and submix8c (above) Both systems multi-boot the operating systems as listed. I am the ONLY user of both - there is NO user B - I am the Administrator on BOTH. There is NO Win7 Homegroup in either system - all of the operating systems are networked to be a part of a common workgroup and that has been working just fine. This may be extreme but here is what I'm getting at: Multiple drives and/or multiple partitions containing the operating systems as listed. I boot into each OS and "Share" the root of each drive/partition in turn. This is done on both systems. Then, I should be able to easily access any drive/partition on either system form whichever system I am in; for example I boot both to XP Pro, open Explorer - I should readily 'see' the shared drives/partitons on computer #1 from #2 and vice versa. Same situation and result in XP Pro x64, Win7, or Win8 from either of the systems; and, in doing this, I am not Denied Access or told I don't have permisiion to read/access anything on #1 from #2 or #2 from #1. Hope all this is clear.
  4. Go here: http://www.wincert.net/forum/ and navigate to the Win7 Toolkit option.
  5. I have two systems, both 64-bit capable, networked via my router which is connected to the cable modem for online access. I am the Administrator, the only user of both systems, and I'm really tired of getting "Access Denied" or "You don't have permission" messages when trying to access one system from the other. Prime system: XP Pro w/SP3, XP Pro x64 w/SP2, Win7 Ultimate w/SP1 32&64 bit. Secondary system: XP Pro w/SP3, XP Pro x64 w/SP2, Win7 Pro w/SP1 x64, and Win8 Consumer Preview x64. I would like to "Share" things so that I can easily access any of the files/folders on the prime system from any of the operating systems on the secondary system and vice versa. For example, if Prime is running Win7 Ultimate x64 and Secondary is running any one of the four operating systems listed I open Explorer > Network > (Secondary) Name > and all folders selected for "Sharing" (XP, 7, or 8) are listed. The same would also be functional in the reverse direction, from Secondary I would readily find the "Shared" folders on Prime. This functionality must be possible when I'm running any of the Prime systems and any of the Secondary systems - no denied or permissions error messages in either direction. If there is a set of instructions available somewhere a link or web address would be appreciated.
  6. You could try AutoPatcher: http://www.autopatcher.com/forums/
  7. Microsoft Security Essentials Prerelease v4.0.1542.0 comes in 32 and 64-bit versions - will install in XP Pro, XP Pro x64, Vista 32/64, and Win7-32/64 with no problems. Readily available on the Microsoft Download site. (Probably Win8 too.)
  8. Try Easy BCD: http://neosmart.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=7
  9. Copy the file to a second floppy, boot from the 98 SE DOS boot floppy, remove that floppy, install the one with edit.com on it and you can then run it. The boot floppy does not have to be installed in the system - it can be removed so that a program on a second floppy can be executed.
  10. 2000 is mentioned here: http://www.autopatcher.com/forums/ but it's not up-todate.
  11. DriverPacks - http://forum.driverpacks.net/ and http://driverpacks.net/downloads will help. Problem is, they don't recommend the use of nLite. RyanVM Integrator - http://siginetsoftware.com/forum/ (download the beta version - it is the latest and works fine - no updates in years). Updates/Addons/Etc can be found at: http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/ I've used AutoStreamer successfully to update my two XP Pro w/SP2 CDs to XP Pro w/SP3 CDs with NO problems. Plus updated friends and neighbors also using AutoStreamer with no problems. (Latest is version 1.0.3.3)
  12. Boot from the Win7 DVD, format the drive, reinstall Win7.
  13. Google for YUMI - Your Universal Multiboot Installer - it may help
  14. Get a copy of EasyBCD: http://neosmart.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=7 should help.
  15. I had used RyanVMi and DriverPacks to create a new XP Pro w/SP3 CD that included AHCI drivers - installed just fine. You cannot use RyanVMi to slipstream 64-bit DriverPacks. So I used nLite to slipstream the AHCI drivers into my XP Pro x64 w/SP2 source and then used RyanVMi to slipstream update packs, addons, WMP11 and then create an ISO to make a new XP Pro x64 w/SP2 CD - worked fine. I am more familier with Ryan so that's why I used it as the final program. Others more familier with nLite would use that to create the final ISO then CD.
  16. Check nLite - should do what you want with no problems.
  17. Two I know of; try Google: ClassicShellSetup_3_4_1.exe ClassicStartMenu_Setup_3_88_PRO.exe I've been using Classic Shell and would recommend it.
  18. I have an ABIT IX48 GT3 motherboard, it has 6 internal SATA 3Gb/s connectors (AHCI & RAID), with AHCI selected in the BIOS, not IDE or RAID. Have two Plextor CD/DVD drives connected to SATA 3 and 4 and they are detected as AHCI devices during boot just fine. Have no problems in XP Pro w/SP3, XP Pro x64 w/SP2 and Win7 Ultimate 64-bit w/SP1 detecting said drives. The JMicron SATA connectors on this motherboard are for external SATA drives so are not used. Optical devices must not be connected to the SATA 6GB/s ports, at least that is what I have been told.
  19. Try the W7 Toolkit - found at: http://www.wincert.net/forum/
  20. JP Software's Take Command is available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions: http://jpsoft.com/ It is a program from the same folks that created 4DOS.

  22. Did you check the Event Viewer for information?
  23. boooooggy - saw your answer at Ryan and replied there.
  24. Still no reply to my problem so I decided to try and use the WMP Slipstreamer without hotfixes; just opted to have WMP 11 itself integrated. So using wmp11-windowsxp-x64-enu.exe I tried again - stll failed. Tried in XP Pro x64 w/SP1 and in Win7 Ultimate 64-bit w/SP1. So, the problem appears to be with the WMP11 Slipstreamer itself - all indications are it's not even starting. Anyone have any ideas?
  25. The November 2011 issue of "PCWorld" has a 'review' of the Widows 8 Developer Preview.
