  1. Google sUx... Yahoo r0x!!!
  2. Don't you think people should have the power to choose what OS they want? That includes being able to buy a keyboard that is "influence free"
  3. I believe that Mozilla is faster than Firefox
  4. But that one has the apple key lol
  5. Why is it that all keyboards have since 95 the windows keys? If i want to buy a keyboard without the windows key I can't because aparently they aren't manufactured anymore, what do the keyboard manufacturing companies earn in adding that extra key? Are they paid for it? Does anyone know any keyboard brand which sells a normal keyboard without the three extra keys?
  6. Here's mine
  7. This will be a stupid off topic question... Who buys computers from Compaq or Dell or whatever when we perfectly know that they are not as superior as one you can build yourself (probably for the same amount of money if not less) ??
  8. I can just hear the guys at microsoft development dept. "We did it, feels just like Mac OS X"
  9. Cabovisão (Netvisão) @512kbps(13GB Monthly) ~ €25 Portugal Edit: It's cable by the way

  11. Everytime You Write In A Annoying Style God Kills A Geek, So Please Think Of Geeks. It's Really Difficult To Read Sentences Where Which Word Starts With A Capital!!!!!! At Least To Me... Anyway You Do Good In Rambling I Miss The Days When I Played DooM2, Tyrian2000 And Transporter Tycoon In DOS.
  12. I'm not an expert, but knowing how windows works I doubt that you can have windows core componentsm such as explorer.exe or files needed to run services, in a RAM drive without twisting windows behavior completely, and if you indeed find some way to do it the perfomance gain wouldn't be that great unless you had someway to run the entire OS from the RAM disk, which would become very annoying to do everytime you reboot.
  13. It's amazing, you people are going at it just because of a name, the name has nothing to do with the OS, its just a marketing strategy, more people will buy a OS named Vista than one named Longhorn. Of course geeks won't like it, geeks would prefer it to be called W32.6.0 or something like that, face it, its marketing, who cares about the users, if they buy it and agree with the EULA what is there for them to complaint?? It just seems like one of those Linux vs. Windows threads, if you hate it enough not to use it then don't, who cares.
  14. so no one can really help me to do this? i cant find any software that would serve without the need for a client, so this is the only way to do it.

    MIDI - 1994

Do you guys remember how MIDI sounded like back when we had our SB16s? Is there any way that I can change the synthesizer from XP to another that would sound like a synthesizer from a Sound Blaster 16 Pro?
  17. Windows is better for the user who needs to play games and do some work. Linux is better if you want to set up a website or any other type of network management
  18. Computer vendors don't and won't care about those problems, they're main concern is to have high profit with low costs. Everything else is too time consuming to pay any attention, as long as companies buy their computers everything will be ok, because the domestic end user isn't a big bucks spender, and for that reason, they will be almost ignored.
  19. Windows 98 is faster in some operations, such as loading a program, but XP can manage it better to have four applications running at the same time, where 98 will start to crawl on its knees. 98 can't manage the same amount of resources XP can or the amount of resources necessary to run certain games (GTA VC for example) It is a pretty fast GUI if your needs aren't... shall I say... "intense" if you install it well on the first try and if you don't have any hardware problems, 98 can be very stable as a server if you just leave it on and not run anything else, or even touch it. Where XP you can still use its full power while it does his secondary job.
  20. WINTER!!! I don't like having 40ºC everyday for three months, doesn't matter how pretty the "view" may be.
  21. I have so many usernames and passwords that I fell in the error of making a file with all of them inside... dont hack me please
  22. @Cantloginin: You cant compare software with the car or restaurant example because it is not the same thing at all, software is software, a car is a car and a restaurant is a restaurant. It's not about lazyness people just have better things to do than to learn how to deal with a new OS, they have jobs, they have families, and when if they use the computer to talk or play games or whatever for only two hours a day why spend so much money on that software if you can't afford it (it doesnt mean people dont appreciate the work developers do, because they do support developers)? And why go for an alternative which is not a viable alternative for home users (Linux isnt an alternative for home users!! The only alternative to Windows is Mac OS X)
  23. I will not belive in anyone, who is a home user, that he/she does not have a single byte of pirate software/music/videos on their computer. Here in Portugal a Windows XP bought at FNAC costs 330€, and its home edition, and 490€ for the professional edition. I know no cases of anyone who actually bought Windows XP or any other type of software, I definitly agree with piracy for home use, if we look at it closely everything is piracy even taping the news from TV. Even though I agree with piracy for home use, I certainly don't agree with it for commercial/enterprise use, a company can very well spend a obscene amount of money in software, where a 16 year old with no income can't. A 16 year old who wants to buy Windows XP for example, here he would have to spend around 330€ or if he would order it online then he could find it for USD 90, and a 16 year old who would live in Malasia would have a cheap version of Windows XP+Office 2003 for USD 60. If Microsoft can afford to "lose" money to the domestic market in Asia why can't they do the same in the rest of the world? A friend of mine who went to Macau (China) said he saw games, oringal not pirated, which here are sold for 60€ and in Macau for 9,99€ Piracy is the only way for a domestic user to have software like Photoshop CS, which I'd like to know how many of you actually bought it. Another level of piracy is when it comes to music CDs or DVDs, I don't buy music CDs, I would if they didn't cost 29,99€, and I would buy a DVD if it didn't cost 39,99€ (doesn't matter what DVD it is, it will be around that price). But I also don't download DVD's from the internet, I will rent them and rip them, in a way I paid for them. Don't come with things about how I should really pay for it, Portugal is not a third world country, but the minimum wage isn't 1200€, its 375€ (hardly enough to survive!!!) and a person shouldn't be obligated to buy a piece of software that will cost her 90€ to boot her computer, while it only cost less than 50€ to the company to manufactur it!
