  1. Indeed, people are getting smarter and buy a legal Windows Vista, mostly 64bit. The cost is about 120USD here now (after 15% tax). Most people will use an OS for 3 to 5 years so what´s the big deal that you pay 24 to 40 USD a year for an OS you use almost every day… I have a small computer shop here, and 20% of my customers buy the license now, before they just bought the computers but went for a copy to the flee-market if you know what I mean. Sure the computers sold in the supermarket have there license already with them and that would make those 5%. There are way more supermarket PCs sold than those 5%, but those had XP on them and people went for a not legal copy of Vista. Bigger companies are target now, like the Coca Cola company in Querétaro, they had all but no legal Windows copies installed .
  2. 95% Of Mexico would be sued . They do this with windows-updates...
  3. Well, some tried to provoke some negative actions from our side (the moderators), to take the 98 section down part by part.Of course we won´t do his as MSFN and for example NeoWIN are the only 2 really active forums, in English language, that still support 95/98/98SE/ME. It would be nuts to take it apart. We are proud of the effort people put in these projects as long as it doesn´t violate any thing... you know what part I´m talking about...
  4. It seems that Gigabyte can´t handle the market at this moment. I see your problem all over the world .
  5. Just use (Bio-) diesel engines and smaller cars, other ingredient to fabricate plastics and medicine. This would solve a mayor problem... (D*mn I sound like Greenpeace )
  6. That would be cool (I can´t get the FP241W here anyway, remember this is a 3rd world I live in). Soon I have my new 650cc enduro bike .By the way, I use my screens under a 10 degree angle CCW.
  7. Well, I know it´s a TN panel, but why would I lay under my monitor to look from that angle . By the way, I got mine for 237USD (plus tax) and I don´t need HDMI or so.Check this out... Test some screens out in real life before you buy them .
  8. I use ACER screens and as far as I know they are all TN panels but: - do have a good contrast ratio (although they state they don´t have) - good filters, I had the FP93GW but moved to the ACER x173 (Yes, 6 bit too) and they show WAY less noise although the power cable goes side by side with the signal cable. I have a ACER P223W - 22'' and I must say for a TN panel it can´t get much better.
  9. Nice sales talk, some numbers they know as they made them there selves, but what people say about the product, and with that those numbers, is hard to beleve or prove. They must be talking about SP1 . I favor Vista too by the way…
  10. Any news on the project? How is it going? By the way, it seems that some are working hard on the project in a negative way to send useless PMs to moderators...
  11. My current revolving Newegg wishlist PC: https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/Wishli...FFXI+and+beyond Good list, except for that Intel board in combination with the Zalman cooler. I didn´t read the whole topic but if you overclock than leave that Intel board and get yourself a Gigabyte as crahak stated, that would give you all solid caps and a lot of tweak options. If it´s above your budget then leave the Zalman and take a look at the Coolermaster TX2 cooler, cheap and good performance with not much noise.
  12. Very few use CRTs these days, and LCD screens have become so much better the last years that I would not see why you would like to go with a CRT, unless you want to see more colors then the LCD could produce (Gradients indeed look better on CRT).
  13. Good VIA stopped with there so easy to use chipsets (sarcasm ).
  14. I have to say that I can´t find them my self either any more.
  15. Ow yes they do sell PCI versions, even based on the 3xxx series . But swapping out the motherboard and getting a PCI-E card would be way better in any way.
  16. Is this an Intel or VIA chipset? EDIT: never mind, I see it´s a VIA chipset... Those need a driver to see the SATA drives. Make a bootable CD with Nero for example and place the BIOS and flash program on it. That should work... I should have looked at the linked motherboard before, this could be an incompatibility problem between HDD and motherboard, try to set the drive on SATA 150MB/s and not on SATA 300MB/s.
  17. I don´t know but the systems I build accept the DEL key when it shows the AHCI BIOS load. Are we talking here about those crippled HP PCs without the PCI-E/AGP sloths? Some have P4 3.04/3.0GHz on board and they have enough power. I see them too many times, tell people not to buy them, but they keep buying that crap in the supermarket. (Had to say it, there ) The 2600pro would be a better pick indeed; as crahak already pointed out, the 2400 series will not pull it. Crahak, welcome back by the way
  18. I don´t know but the systems I build accept the DEL key when it shows the AHCI BIOS load.
  19. If your question was silly then 80% of the forum was .What´s the drive model you use now and what would you like to change it for? What model is your motherboard? If you need any help don´t hesitate to ask.
  20. I would think of a short at the back of your motherboard or the board itself, or a faulty PSU. Try swapping them out and start with the PSU.
  21. I hope you did a clean install too...
  22. As always, wanted to put a gayer thing but didn´t .
  23. Happy birthday dude!
  24. That would not be a bad idea, however, you told us that it was "okay" before with the BIOS the mobo has now, or I understood it wrong?
  25. My bets too indeed. When reading the first post it must be the PSU although it could be the mobo too. (Let´s presume that the software isn´t the bad one here...)
