  1. AntiVir is freeware as well and is better than Avast.
  2. Ok, so there is a Dr Dolomon's AntiVirus Toolkit, but anyways... Kaspersky found no virus in this, but when run it doesn't show much, no indication that it's owned by ESET. The filename is just uninstav.exe. Also, when run, the Taskbar button has no title on it. Extremely suspicious.
  3. If I knew it would be on SoftPedia I wouldn't have had to e-mail ESET. It doesn't work on the latest versions? What a shame... What the hell...? I don't trust this at all. I replied to ESET with the following:
  4. Then go ask Kaspersky.
  5. And realistically, what are the chances of getting a polymorphic virus? I said it before and I'll say it again, I've used Kaspersky on dozens of computers full of infections and it cleaned them out without breakiing a sweat.
  6. Sorry about that Mr. Gates.
  7. Ok, I'm really tired of people saying "<Insert name here> rules, for this one reason that makes me like it, which has nothing to do with it's flexibility, functionality or anything else! If you want some real information, click here.
  8. I've used this before in confunction with Opera, worked like a charm once I figured out how to use it.
  9. If you say so, Mr. Expert. Changes in SP2
  10. Very nice, Dig. Yeah, no doubt I screwed up there somewhere. So Nuhi's already hacking the crap out of Vista. Geez, I guess I should start beta testing stuff, since M$ is giving out free copies. I don't want to have an illegal copy yet have to pay $100's of $$$ for it. *cries*
  11. XPlite isn't freeware and it doesn't allow for as much removal or customization as nLite. I would recommend you just use XP Home or Pro (depending on what you need), use the RyanVM Update Pack and use some tweaks from MSFN (I have a nice 36 KB .reg file that does a nice job). As for future updates, either use Windows Updates, WUD, AutoPatcher or redo your installation on a monthly basis as per new version of Ryan's update pack. As for trimming the fat off XP, I do use nLite and I mainly just remove unneeded Languages and Drivers as those alone account for more than 50% of XP's mass. This leaves all of XP's functionality behind at less than half the original size. How can anyone argue that?
  12. 1. Use SP2. 2. Did you remove IE Core?
  13. I've always used VMware.

  15. Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 and Adobe After Effects Hollywood uses Avid Liquid 7
  16. Well said, Zxian. Well said, indeed. RMS, take a look at the thread I linked (now far above) if you have any desire to nitpick any further. If anyone has dragged defrag program debating around, it's me. Zxian used to smack me around about it in the past. Ease of use and time-is-money are the main points. Just let it go... Now let's all go play games and tickle our younger siblings if we have any.

  18. @RMS, if you have a question about newer harddrives and how fragmentation affects them, I suggest you keep everything in one place by posting your curiosities on the DriverHeaven thread located here. http://www.driverheaven.net/showthread.php...6565#post986565 And the Diskeeper Blog: www.diskeeperblog.com And the PerfectDisk Blog: http://perfectdiskblog.typepad.com/perfectdisk_blog/
  19. So you just go out and buy whatever's the most expensive thing on the market at the time, huh... $$$
  20. BAH!! StarForce GARR!!!
  21. Modest you... hahaha. Sorry we never got around to playing there Nitro.
  22. Comparing HL to GTA to Civ# is like comparing apples, oranges and bananas. They all have their own method of gameplay called "genre" that makes them unique from each other.
  23. I just installed NET3.0 and was disgusted by all the extra stuff that it installs. I reverted to 2.0.
