  1. Could it be something to do with 24 - instead of 32 - bpp pics? That aside, it is very successful!
  2. With Opera browser, it is very easy to make a button that enable/disable JS on the fly, during the surf. You can also set the Site preferences, for each one separately, to have javascript running when you need it. EDIT: there is also several Extension to manage it, like NoAds or NotScripts.
  3. Fredledingue has given a very useful tweak to limit amount of launched javascript under Internet Explorer: FANTASTIC internet javascript control Tweak
  4. Yes. Anything can be discussed, but the radiobuttons are not in plain black but dark green (that is darker than the gray, but lighter than black ). You're welcome .Charles. EDIT: Some buttons are lacking the 'Disabled' shape. For instance, for a window that cannot be maximized, to get a hole instead:
  5. Hi kallon, thanks for the quick reply. There is something else: I don't understand why you need to set a value of TransCorn=5, in the [Global] section. This setting is used to get round corners (transparent actually) as detailed in the UberSkin documentation, but yours are all square! If you set the value to 0 or delete the line, the appearance is exactly the same. As I had explained in post#534 of RP9 's main thread, transparent corners are giving for me (at least) a display glitch, that's why I beware of them. Charles. EDIT: nice changes kallon! But IMO plain black is too dark regarding the general theme style. I have changed it to the dark gray of the frame:
  6. Welcome kallon! You've done a big & nice work My personal choice is 'olive'. EDIT: maybe 1 comment about the boxes tint:
  7. Type: opera:config#UserPrefs|ShowDropdownButtonInAddressfield tick the box and save . You don't need to put Google as Home for that. If it is your default search engine (Ctrl+>F12 -> Search -> Google -> Edit), just type in the address field what you are looking for, and 'Enter'. Otherwise, type "g " in front of your search. All native buttons are in Shift+F12 -> last tab. You can also add a Google thumbnail in the Speed Dial. Apart from that, it seems that I have a glitch with Opera 11.51: opera:config is not properly displayed and doesn't do an automatic search for what you type. EDIT: my bad. Some files were missing in the folder. BTW, why not make a new thread with all these posts about "Opera & Win 9x/Me"?
  8. I just tested with versions 11.11, 11.01 and 11.00 - the problem with opening links from external programs or trying to launch a new instance of Opera are the same. I wonder if there is anyone who could figure out how to fix it. Hello ivanbuto, read here #43 from loblo, and #44 Currently, the only way I can open an external shorcut in Opera is: - "Open" (you can use "Ctrl+O", or a dedicated button you will find in Shift+F12 -> last tab) - Drag & drop in an opened window of Opera - Right-click -> "Send to" to an Opera shortcut only if Opera is closed. I cannot open a second instance of Opera (from the same exe), BUT if I recall a saved session (or if I drag & drop an opened tab on the desktop, etc.), it opens in a new window easily
  9. Good work, but... aren't you suppose to fill the KernelEx Wiki: Compatible applications .
  10. Hello Simon, on this page: Revolutions Pack 9 Configuration there is some more downloadable Themes for RP9. BTW, your Mobility is still my favorite Theme for Win98 .
  11. Firstly, does the 'notepad' compatibility-mode trick show what gets invoked (in 'wintop') when you print? If so, try targeting that. If nothing is shown, then an alternative tool to 'wintop' may be required. Since the problem you have is with "print preview", try the 'notepad' compatibility-mode trick using "print preview" (aka. "page setup") instead of "print". Joe, nothing appears in WinTop (or in Process Explorer) when I print with Notepad, either in default compatitibility or in Win2k SP4 compatibility. The only program that can be displayed is C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SPOOL32.EXE, which is disabled by default in KernelEx!
  12. Joe & Xeno86, this workaround doesn't work for my printing problem describe above. No program is displayed in Wintop before Opera's crash. BTW, I have no problem to print with with Notepad or metapad, even in Win2k SP4 compatibility.
  13. jumper, I run an Intel P III (Katmai) with MMX and SSE supported (but not SSE 2, SSE 3, ...). Does FineSSE will still be able to handle some specific Illegal Instructions, or is it useless in such case? BTW, when we use it with Win.ini, do we still have to add "-v" at the end of the 'Debugger' line? Thx in advance. Charles.
  14. New version released Opera 11.50 with his bunch of improvements, ruuning fine with last KernelEx 4.5.1 installed! Official announcement: Swordfish jumps out of the water Change Logs Download
  15. You are right. For my part, I have tried with 4 MB for USER & GDI and doesn't see a real difference. So, Tihiy if you are here what would you recommend currently for those tricks? (with last builds of RP & KernelEx already installed).
  16. Well, these tricks are rather old now. They were given by Tihiy and dencorso, but with the heap optimisation built in last RP (and KernelEx?), do we actually need them? BTW jds, Tihiy said later that it is inadvisable to allow more than 4 MB to GDIMaxHeapSize as it may deplete too much selectors.
  17. Xeno86, I have done a search with Filemon in Maxthon, and I've found 4 files running for PDFWriter: PDFWIN32.DLL PDFWRITR.INI PDFWLIB.DLL PDFWRITR.DRV Unfortunately, the only one with a KernelEx (compatibility) tab is PDFWIN32.DLL. If I disable KernelEx extensions for this Dll (and reboot), it doesn't avoid the crash. Yet no idea for the Print preview.
  18. For the record, the only setting needed to get all Opera stuff in one single folder (namely 'profile'), is the line: [System] Multi User=0 in a 'operaprefs_default.ini' file that has to be in the main Opera folder. If this file doesn't exist, default value will be 1 that is to say: Opera will use Windows profiles to store individual settings in %Windir%\Application Data and %Windir%\Local Settings. HTH
  19. Thx for your reply, Xeno86! * Opera 10.63: With Win 2000 compatibility, I have a crash if I try to use Print preview or Pdf Writer. If I disable KernelEx extensions, no more crash * Opera 11 (any build): With Win NT2k compatibility, I have a crash if I try to use Print preview or Acrobat Pdf Writer (= same thing). But the printing with HP LaserJet 1022 is fine! Print preview & Pdf Writer are working normally in Maxthon. If I tick 'Don't use these settings in child processes', even after a reboot, it doesn't help. * Dll's: For the 'Print preview', I don't know if there is a specific Dll that could be targeted. Pdf Writer, is displayed as a printer and I don't know where to find it. Through this link: Crash_Opera11.rar , I have uploaded a few stuff about the crash: Screenshots from Process Explorer, Log from Dr Watson and from Filemon. Could you be kind enough to take a look. Thanks in advance.
  20. @ Dave-H & loblo : Thanks for the feedback. I have try with Opera 10.63, but the bug is still the same. Oddly, if I set the KernelEx compatibility of Opera 11 to 'Windows NT4.0 SP6', I have only 1 line left in the Print' section: Print... and don't see anymore the 2 others. EDIT: With Opera 10.63, if I disable KernelEx everything is fine. So, it could be somehow KernelEx related. Xeno86 or Tihiy do you hear me ?
  21. Read post #1166 With last KernelEx 4.5.1 installed, you can also use the classic exe installer, from here. EDIT: With last KernelEx 4.5.1, run the classic installer 'Opera_1111_int_Setup.exe' -> Options -> Install for: choose 'Stand-alone installation (USB)' Install path: as you wish, so everything will stay in 1 folder. No change to your registry or anywhere else on the HD. If you don't want to keep it, merely delete the folder .
  22. Bug Report: Using Opera 11, I have an instant crash of the software or even of the whole OS (freeze that needed reboot from the unit button), if I try to access 'Print preview' or to print in 'Acrobat PDF Writer'. Print on my HP LaserJet 1022 is working fine. Tried with KernelEx 4.5 Final & new KernelEx 4.5.1, in Opera 11.01 (build 1190) and in Opera 11.10 (build 2092).
