  1. Reboot done, and no error in ScanDisk (DOS) & SCANDSKW.EXE (Win) .
  2. Thx everybody for your kind help!! @ loblo: Thank you so much, it has worked instantly! So far, no other file lost. @jaclaz: you're right, I thought also that the error came from a "ç" misunderstood, that's why I'd tried to rename the file to 'Français' but with without success. @submix8c & DougB: thanks for the links. I keep them!! I have tried another one called Dr Delete, uploaded here FWIW: Dr.Delete.rar but without success this time. @TmEE: I'd tried to delete the ini file in true DOS after reboot, which should be more powerful.
  3. Hi, I've unpacked this morning an exe with Universal Extractor (the old version that runs under Win98) and now I get 2 files named 'Fran_ais.ini' on my desktop that I can't delete. What I have already done (and is useless): - simple Delete -> the files go to the Recycle Bin, but it cannot be emptied with the warning: 'The file is not found'. - Shift+Delete -> same thing - Reboot -> no difference - Rename -> impossible (error 1026) - Open the file in Notepad -> The file is not found. - Delete from Dos on reboot (with %WINDIR%\WININIT.EXE & WININIT.INI) -> doesn't work (I have tried to delete the file with 'NUL=path' and the folder with 'deltree /y directory') - ScanDisk (with Automatically fix errors): SCANDSK.EXE on reboot, SCANDSKW.EXE Standard, and then Thorough -> No error detected And now? Any help would be greatly appreciated! EDIT: System: Win98SE - SP3.0 - KernelEx 4.5.2 (last version) - Revolutions Pack 9.7 (last version)
  4. Hi, I don't know if it was done on purpose but the country flag, OS, ... of the poster is no longer displayed.
  5. With Win 98SE no more crash for the non unicode version, but still the ini saved is an empty file. EDIT (your answers): What I did: Win98SE -> RPTE1.8-> File-> Load Theme Folder-> I click (select) the first folder of the list ie '2K6'-> OK There is no apparent change, no name displayed for instance in the white box above the toolbar, no value is displayed in any item, and the ini is still called 'no skin.ini'. If I click 'Save theme', without modification or after one, from the menu or from the toolbar, a window says me that the file was saved as %exe folder%\mod_no skin.ini, but actually no file has been created, there or in the theme folder! If I click 'Save theme as...', I am asked to choose a directory and an ini name, ...but the created file is still empty (containing only one line: ';Please note - file content is critical'), with no crash. HTH
  6. Everything was done on my Win98SE PC, except when I tried to run RPTE once on Win7. For 'Save' I wasn't asked for a place to save the file, so I thought it would be in the theme folder loaded. For 'Save as', I was asked to save by default in the program folder, that I accepted.
  7. Yes, a behaving here by column would be better. Perfectly. I had an error, launching it in Windows7 Pro. That is buggy. 'Save' button doesn't create anything here, and 'Save as...' create an empty file (containing only the line: ';Please note - file content is critical'). In all cases, I get a crash after saving when I try to close the program, claiming: RPTE 1 a causé une défaillance de page dans le module <inconnu> à 0000:bf9eaa36. (Google translation: RPTE 1 caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> 0000: bf9eaa36. )
  8. Errors (regressions) have been introduced in the 'RP9_Skin_collection_v3'. Here is a new fixed version. I have also added in the 'skin.ini' files the author name whenever I could, in particular to fit whith the new Drugwash editor. RP9_Skin_collection_v4.rar 4.24 MB - MD5=B180D9765CBBDE44813DD90523473ABD Instructions to use: see post #17 & post #23 Careful! You don't need any registration or e-mail, no exe to download or install, ... just click on the top link. Enjoy .
  9. Hi Drugwash, as you said many functions are lacking for now. So, what can I tell: - runs without glitch on my Win 98SE (KernelEx ...) - I love the skinnable colors! - There is an irritating warning "There's unsaved work..." each time you close the program, ...even if you don't have done anything. - Skin color change every time. I appreciate this behavior personally, but it should be possible to keep a choice for those who prefer. - Similarly, no memorization of the selected size of icons. Should be an ini file to write down all these settings. - You should had info-tips hover elements like the black square to choose color, or the home (default) button to clarify the use. - Similarly, this black square should rather be colorful (rainbow?). HTH Charles.
  10. For who's concerned, there's sweet and fully compatible cursors sets on this (japanese) site: CursorsNut!! The download page is here. Everything is available free and seems to be stable .
  11. You're right but never mind, Thx for the help! I have search several times with Google, but it is actually hard to find some cool set that doesn't make a problem because transparency and shadowing are not supported.
  12. submix8c: Thx for the nice idea but it is not that easy nowadays to find a modern cursors set (not the awful ones in 4 bit) which is not to heavy to run with this OS. loblo: I have found a CARR32.ANI cursor in http://www.anicursor.com/danicur2.zip (from http://www.anicursor.com/danicur2.html ) Is it it?
  13. With the help of Revolutions Pack 9, we can improve a lot Win 9x look. We can skin the GUI and change the icons. So, does anyone has got nice Cursors set, compatible with Win 9x? That is, sweet but not to heavy .
  14. You're welcome Drugwash By the way, where can I get your Royale color variations set of themes? I thought you were telling me about the 'RoyalColor' I've got in my RP9_Skin_collection, but it has been made by kallon. I can find no trace of it on MSFN.
  15. They are the Superbar Start Buttons as mentioned in the skin_Superbar.ini Watercolor EB: BLUEC_STARTBUTTON_BMP1.bmp -> 34x114, instead of 34x78 for the regular skin Windows 7: startbig.bmp -> 54x141, instead of 54x108 for the regular skin.
  16. I had tried with a 111 px high button and it was still fine. That's why I wrote: 'and it can be even slightly bigger'. I went back to a 108 px sized button, because it was the main big size I had found, like in the AeroBlue, AeroClassic, Sky98, Ubuntu Human, Velvet98, VistaUltimateBlack skins. Some more details about this StartButton display bug: it begins from the height of 114 pixel. 111 px is fine, and even 112 or 113 (which are not divisible by 3). About the big height StartButtons: * 108 px: AeroBlue, AeroClassic, Sky98, Ubuntu Human, Velvet98, VistaUltimateBlack, Windows Lupus, & the fixed Windows 7 * 111 px: Windows Azure * Superbar skins: Watercolor EB Superbar -> 114 px Windows 7 Superbar -> 141 px HTH Charles.
  17. Nice stuff Drugwash! You may find some useful tips to fill the bottom square, in the [Global] section of AeroClassic's skin.ini: GlyphLimit=50 ;if button height lesser than that value, than small glyph will be used.NoPremultAlpha=0 ;no alpha channel pre-multiply...TransCorn=4 ;transparent corner by 4 pixelsActiveShadow=1 (1 to enable - default)ActiveShadowColor=45 68 232 (0 0 0 - black by default)InactiveShadow=0 (1 to enable)

  19. For instance, in the Windows 7 regular skin, the TaskBarSize=30 but my new StartButton (start.bmp) is 108 px high instead of 3x30=90 px and it can be even slightly bigger. The original bmp creating the bug, was 132 px high. For the Windows 7 Superbar skin, the TaskBarSize=40 with a StartButton (startbig.bmp) of 141 px, not creating the display bug. I have already checked the other skins start buttons, but no one else is that tall.
  20. There's no size declaration in the .ini file but the Bmp was to high, and this is what created this display bug. A few old skin (designed for Lameskin engine) could also had created problem, but as far as I know were corrected in the previous 'RP9 Skin collection' versions. The 'Royal Color' is indeed very nice, with no display glitch for me .
  21. Here is a new RP9 Skin collection version 3 slightly improved, including in particular the correction of some glitches. [file deleted. See post #53 below.] Instructions to use: see post #17 & post #23 Careful! You don't need any registration or e-mail, no exe to download or install, ... just click on the top link. Enjoy .
  22. Yes, this soft is very useful: very quick and light to work on Mp3 files, with no loss of quality (non-destructive). New version 2.20 is running as well as the previous ones. The good link is indeed: mp3DirectCut ...but I doubt it is needing KernelEx to run. Seems to me that its right place should be : http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/105936-last-versions-of-software-for-windows-98se/
