I have noticed that the freeze problem often occurs when the GFX runs short of ram. That was when I was on my Geforce 2 and was running with to mant details... But the 4800SE has 128MB ram, so I wonder if thats the problem... Anyway, try lowering the detail settings ... you might get lucky

As a n00bish wannabe programmer I have also been checking out alot of editors, but I don't know if its the same thing you''re looking for. Anyway, I found DevC++ to be one of the best freeware IDEs: Screenshot - Download If thats not advanced enought you might want to try Borland's C++ editor. I believe its much cheaper than the MS alternative -
