  1. Cool, but a tiny bit scary at the same time
  2. It's to avoid spoof login boxes, because It's relatively easy to spoof up a fake login dialog box, and capture user IDs and passwords. User mode applications cannot intercept Ctrl+Alt+Delete. Thus, by making sure that the user has to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete in order to get to the login dialog, spoof dialog boxes are avoided.

  4. Welcome brelfielfan! Good to hear u like the guide!
  5. The reason for this is when you use hardware acceleration. The Graphics card isen't able to stream to two screens at the same time. To view movies on your television with full hardware acceleration go to the "Screens" tab within the ATI control panel... Then set your TV as the primary (round button) output source and your monitor as secondary (dual screen button).

  8. I, of course, agree with the general attitude. You're a much valued expert member around here, and I would very much hate to see you leave. The advice you have posted have been very helpful to and many others and I respect you, and everybody else for that matter, for taking the time to help other members of the community. I sincerly hope you'll reconsider your choice to leave MSFN.

  10. Well, thats good question! ... On one hand you can't blaim Microsoft for the bugs that other programmers cause. On the other hand. tt is however one of Microsoft's most vital task to protect the end user from poorly written code, that could potentially damage their system or cause loss of data. That would included preventing a 3rd party program from crashing the PC altogether, would'n it?

  12. Here ya go, make a reg that makes the following change to disable it: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "SFCDisable"=dword:ffffff9d Different switches for SFCDisable: ; dword:00000000 = enabled ; dword:00000001 = disabled, prompt at boot to re-enable ; dword:00000002 = disabled at next boot only, no prompt to re-enable ; dword:00000004 = enabled, with popups disabled ; ffffff9d - for completely disabled I don't know if this is efective from when the reg is aplied or a reboot is needed... but the 1-3 dwords suggest that a reboot is not needed ... hmm ... anyone know this for sure?
