  1. i just left it alone, my problem was i removed the color schemes and that in turn removed all themes except classic
  2. i have an LG VX8300 and something ive removed wont let me install the drivers, when i use a basic (regular) xp 64 installation it works but on the installation im using now wont let me install the drivers. i have another UA made already cuz this one was giving me problems but i dont wanna waste another DVD when i find out the same thing happens. this is the lastsession.ini for the new UA i created. see if you can find anything that i should keep in for it.
  3. ive been using the "hot girl" setup billboard i found on here awhile ago, and its worked fine until i tried to use it for my XP 64 UA. instead of using the "hot girl" billboard it uses the classic or basic billboard (the one w/o all the flashy stuff and the counter) has anyone else had this problem?
  4. the themes service isnt there, i guess i removed it by accident i was gonna attach my last session.ini but like a dummy i deleted all of them
  5. yea mine is a workstation too, i guess ill stick with XP
  6. i think i might of removed something that allows theming, when i first booted into windows after the installation it gave me the windows classic theme and the xp style wasnt listed in the drop down box. i was just like "ill re install it" and downloaded a few other themes. when i tried to install one i got this error message: "the visual style could not be applied.the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion" i just looked and i dont have a copy of my nlite settings what could be causing this?
  7. ive been having problems with XP Pro x64 and just recently ive been having problems creating a stable XP 64 unattended cd, when i go into manage my computer local users and group always has a red X over it and when i go to defrag something using diskeeper it will stop after about 30 seconds and says that it cant continue because a snapshot of the drive is being taken (by idk what ) i know that XP 64 is built off of 2003 server, but which is better (stability/compatibility wise)? ive heard people say that development of XP 64 was pretty much halted half way so more people could work on Vista. so i ask you, whats your choice of 64 bit OSes?
  8. I just got an AMD 64 x2 4200 (had a busted 3800 before) and im wondering what i should use in terms of operating systems. Im a college student so all the network/server stuff isnt essential but sometimes its good to have around and idk which version i should use. ive used XP Pro 32 and 64 with varied successes. I have used 2003 Std. Server when it first came out and it sucked and havent used it since. I just made an NLited version of 2003 std. server to see if i like it anymore then xp 64. also there is the question of 2003 x64. just wanted everyones opinions.
  9. umm buddy im not that stupid the keyboard was already plugged in and this thread is about stupid computer errors, lighten up
  10. my and my friend always used to joke about that one cuz we thought it was fake then one day we were messin around with computers at school and he started dying laughing and was like "come here!!" and low and behold the here was on the POST screen "Keyboard not found, press F1 to continue"
  11. ive updated it as much as possible and it still says its 2003 server. supposedly sp2 is out for x64
  12. Im running a corperate version of Windows XP Pro X64 and alot of times my OS is detected as 2003 Server and it wont let me install certain things. I just got a new verizon cellphone and i went to connect it to my computer but i cant install WMP10 or the drivers for the phone. how can i make this work? is there a way to change what my computer says the OS is?

  14. thats what i feared..... i was hoping that maybe there was a way to do it through AMD but i guess not. the choppy video problem was easy to fix, i didnt have the drivers installed. Both runs of super pi completed successfully taking 37 mins 50 secs on each core.
  15. i just re-burned xp64 thinkin that maybe the cd was scrathed and it was screwing up stuff. now its even worse, when i do something dealing with graphics (scrolling a window, chaning the size of a window, etc..) its really choppy and slow, and randomly my sound doesnt work even though i have the drivers installed and the connections are fine. this is really starting to aggrevate me, i thought building a 64 bit based computer would be awesome and its been nothing but problems for me. As for RMAing the processor, would it be possible for me to do so since i bought it OEM off of ebay??
  16. results: Super Pi would only let me run one instance at at time for some reason. it would give me some error message that idk what it meant (Not Convergent in SQR05). it was able to calculate Pi to the 32 millionth place in 37 minutes. theres no special procedure to follow to run it on each core is there? just open it up twice and let it run, correct?? Ran Sisoft Sandra 2007 today using the burn in to test the cpu and memory and then i went to class for like 2 hours and came back and it had crashed. this is what the BSOD said: Driver IRQL Not Less Or Equal Stop:0x0000000D1 *** NDIS.sys - AddressFFFFFADFE3E6A0F6 base at FFFFFADFE3E25000, Date Stamp 42436112 i also updated my Nforce drivers 2 nights ago and that didnt seem to help any :-/
  17. thanks for the info guys, it looks like its DC++ thats causing the problem. just for the hell of it i didnt run it last night and when i woke up (11 hours later) it was fine. (I use DC++ because my University has a HUGE hub with about 700 users and 22TB of stuff ) As for the powersupply and RAM i bought them to match the processor. i upgraded everything at once. Ripken, i was lookin at that lastnight but it didnt really give me any info i could use. i have an Asus A8N-SLI (NForce Chipset). I'll upgrade it and see if that fixes anything. I'm led to belive that it is hardware since ive had problems in both windows and linux. I'll run the tests you mentioned nfm and ill post the results.
  18. i have an AMD 64 X2 3800 (which i think might be my problem for everything since the guy sent it to me wrapped in tissue paper ) and my computer wont run any other version of windows besides xp 64. i have xp 64 corp. installed and whenever i have DC++ open for extended amounts of time and i'm downloading alot, after a few hours ill come back and see the BSOD there to great me. this is usually the error i get: (the normal stuff here) Bugcode_NDIS_Driver (more of the normal stuff) Stop: 0x0000007C (0x0000000000000005,0xFFFFFADFE6571228,0xFFFFFADFE6559500,0xFFFFFADFE6570700) i have all of the lastest patches installed, is there any other way to fix this?? I also got the "IRQ Less Than Or Equal To Zero" error. this is gettin really annoying, im think about sellin all this 64 crap and goin back to 32 bit
  19. my AMD 64 X2 didnt like XP Pro 32 bit one bit, it only takes xp 64
  20. when i used to use windows as my main os (i use linux now) i would reinstall every few months, no more then 6 months
  21. you beat me to it, exactly what i was gonna say
  22. i disagree, safexp is one of the easiest tools to use when you want to take steps to start securing windows xp. ofcourse this wont help with local security but it does help a great bit in securing xp compared to leaving it how it was. As for help center, its a waste of space. the answers it gives you are either really vague or cycical (makes you go in circles). ive always removed it but yet my dad wants it in his xp even though he know its a piece of crap... if you really want to know how to secure windows xp pick up a copy of Hacking Exposed 5th edition. It gives you information on almost every major hole that hackers/worms/virii/etc exploit, how it works and how to fix it. if anyone is really into security I HIGHLY recommend this book. not only does it cover windows but it covers linux too. check it out
  23. it takes alotta work to secure XP. a good program to do this via reg hacks is a program called safeXP i highly recommend it!
  24. and MS continues to make a decent OS a giant POS.....
  25. the file in the archive is an ISM file and when i changed the extension to MSI it gave me all these crazy characters
