USB keyboard w/ PS2 adapter not getting reconized
gamehead200 replied to videobruce's topic in Hardware Hangout
PS/2 mice and keyboards have different pinouts... That's why you can only plug them into their specified ports on the back of your computer. Same goes for those little PS/2 adapters. There are ones made specifically for mice (green) and ones made specifically for keyboards (purple/blue)! -

Here's what I usually do. Every new computer we get comes with a restore CD. I usually just use any restore cd and restore the OS, the I have to go the network to install all the applications that are used on each computer. I used Acronis to clone the image and saved it to the network. Then When it's time to restore a computer, I would boot with the Acronis CD go to the network and download the image. Decompress and boom! new OS. Only problem is that it need activation. Right now I'm looking into creating a Windows XP CD and slipstream ALL the applications into the OS. So all your computers are identical? Are they Dells, HPs, Acers, etc...? If that's the case, and you use the restore CD on one computer, then make all the changes you want, you should be able to clone it onto the other computers using Norton Ghost. OEM CDs from Dell or HP usually don't have to be activated as they only install on their (Dell, HP, etc) provided hardware.

Norton Ghost does the trick. I actually ghosted four computers a few days ago for my school. Worked like a charm!

Can Anyone Make a Cd Cover for me please?

Holy crap, that's freakin' short and amazing!! Thanks guys!!

Thanks a lot! I'll give it a try tomorrow! Oh, and I almost forgot... The Default User folder... I just add that in as mentioned above?
-
As I mentioned above... It doesn't do what I want. Delprof either deletes all the profiles except for Administrator and All Users or prompts you for each profile. There are 300+ profiles on most of the desktops I will be using this on!!! Also, I will be doing this from an account that has Admin privileges, so I don't want the Administrator folder to be deleted. Sonic, how would I add two profiles I do not want to delete to that batch file? For example, the names of the folders are "profile1" and "profile2".
-
Hey everyone, Right now, I`m in the process of deleting profiles on 100+ laptops at my job in order to keep the computers clean. My question to you is the following... Is there a way to delete all the profiles EXCEPT certain ones by using a batch file? All this consists of is deleting the folders in the Documents and Settings folder and their contents except for certain folders (such as All Users and Administrator). There is a tool called delprof from Microsoft, but it just deletes everything except for the All Users folder. Can someone suggest a way of doing this? Thanks.

Maybe I'll just end up ordering these parts from a nearby store... Too busy to go over... And I REALLY want to build one of these! Great job, Cygnus! BTW, if you are using rechargeable AA batteries for the above, you do not need a regulator as the charge will only be approximately 5.11V. However, you will need a regulator if you use four normal AA batteries (Duracell, Energizer, etc.) as the charge will be 6V (not safe, must be around 5V). Thanks to Cygnus for explaining that!

Hey everyone, Because this forum is full of very knowledgable people, possibly engineers and maybe even physicists and such , I decided to drop this question here and was wondering if anyone could kindly explain to me what these undergraduate degrees consist of and if they consist mostly of the same courses: - Computer Engineering - Computer Science - Electrical Engineering The reason I'm asking is because I would like to go into a computer program in university, just not sure which one would suit me best and I would also like people's points of view/opinions on the different programs. I have heard that Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering both offer most of the same courses, but I'm not sure what the key differences are between the three programs. Maybe there are other programs out there that would probably interest someone like myself, so if you know of a different program, I'd really like to know what it is. Anyway, suggestions and explanations would be greatly appreciated.

forgotten admin password from router
gamehead200 replied to Cyprian_8's topic in Networks and the Internet
It is usually done by unplugging the power from your router, holding the reset button for about a minute, then keep holding it while plugging the router's power back in for another couple of seconds. -
Multiple Remote Desktops in one location
gamehead200 replied to aspenjim's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
I don't know how many times I've suggested this app on this forum, but Hamachi is just great for things like this. You can install it on all the computers you want to access as well as the PC you're accessing them from, and NOT open any ports at all and it will work seamlessly. Trust me on this one. Look at how many computers I'm running Hamachi on. That page shows their status (most of them are offline). But honestly, I've only been using this since January, and I'm obsessed with it. And everything is encrypted with 256-bit encryption from computer to computer. You just access the PCs with their Hamachi-assigned IPs. Give it a try and let us know how it goes! -
Nope. I actually need a good one!
