  1. laffinboy, I agree with GrofLuigi that is almost impossible to know for sure what is going on in your case. However, these are the symptoms of running nLite more than once against the same source. By symptoms, I mean strange, unexplainable things. If you started with a fresh copy of a clean, legal copy of windows and did all your work in one nLite session, then it is even more strange. Some things to try: start all the Disabled Services and see if that changes anything. I do no use Update Packs, so I do not know what the one you used has in it. Does it have updates to IE7, IE8 or neither? If it has IE8 updates and you did not install IE8, then that can be a real problem. Where did your source come from? Have you run an AV scan? Good luck, John.
  2. bensam56, is it possible to set up a network adapter with RT7Lite? If not, can you consider that function? Thanks, John.
  3. chrisoborski, nhelper.exe is a program nLite uses in nLite.inf (compressed into NLITE.IN_) during install to implement many of the changes you requested. The last things it does is delete itself. When nLite is run multiple times, items are added to the end on nLite.inf using nhelper.exe, but it has been deleted, so they all fail. You have a mess as a result. Enjoy, John.
  4. Wow! Great to hear you have the Mojo, cluberti! Thanks, John.
  5. cluberti, how did you discover this. Thanks, John.
  6. biatche, Process Explorer can tell you if the file is in use by other process(es). I am not very familiar with Vista/W7 but perhaps it is a UAC conflict. Just a guess. Enjoy, John.
  7. legnireb, I am really not sure what's going on here. Did you create a user account? I could not find your Pid via Google, which I normally can. I don't know what that means. Is your CD Retail or what? I suggest you go back to your first post and change the thread title reflecting the key problem. Hopefully it will attract someone who knows more than I do about this. Enjoy, John.
  8. MutantTractor, almost always when the problem is understood, it is simple! You will need to play with some techniques. I think running the Attrib command out of RunOnce will do the trick. The question is, is it too soon? Please let us know what you learn. Help and Support in the Start menu will explain the Attrib, Copy and Xcopy commands and their parms. I use the Attrib command with wild card (*.*) to do all files in a folder. BTW, I do not use nLite to create an ISO or write a DVD. I use ImgBurn for both, so this happens when the ISO is created. Did you get your Firefox problem corrected? I, too, have sign in problems (IE8) requiring clearing cache and cookies. Have fun, John.
  9. MutantTractor, I have reproduced the problem and corrected it. The problem is that the two .txt files in the PiFast folder are set to Read Only. By simply resetting the Read Only flag, PiFast runs just fine. I have had these problems before with files turning out to be Read Only after going through the ISO process. I think it has to do with copying files from the CD. My fix for a lot of other file is tho use the Attrib command (see Help and Support). Example : The -R says to remove the Read Only attribute. Another way to get around this is to use copy or xcopy commands. Enjoy, John.
  10. legnireb, I don't see anything. If you put in your key does it continue? Try setting the Unattended Mode, in Unattended-General Tab, to Fully Automatic. Is the copy of Windows legal and the key a valid key for the copy of Windows? OEM keys are only for OEM copies, Retail for Retail, etc. Where did you get the copy of Windows and the key and are they OEM, Retail, Recovery or else? Please post the value of the Pid in the file setupp.ini. Should be in the I386 folder. Enjoy, John.
  11. legnireb, please attach your Last Session as requested in bold RED above and we will take a look. Enjoy, John.
  12. MutantTractor, looks OK to me. The cmdlines.txt causes the nLite.inf to be run at T-13. You can find nLite.inf (compressed into NLITE.IN_) in your I386 folder after running nLite. I have not used the $Docs folder but have used others with no problems. Do you modify any files after running nLite? You might try removing the $Docs folder and see what happens. This is all really strange! Enjoy, John.
  13. MutantTractor, what is in your $OEM$? Do you change it after nLite has run? NLite uses the $OEM$ folder to run nLite.inf at T-13. Without this, nLite does not get its work done during installation and I do not know the outcome. Can you post a screen shot of a Windows Explorer view of the $OEM$ folder without feeling like you are exposing something private? Mine is attached. Notice the cmdlines.txt - where nLite.inf is invoked. Here is the contents of my cmdlines.txt: Enjoy, John.
  14. MutantTractor, attached my Last Session. Can you post the one that worked? Thanks, John.
  15. MutantTractor, disabling SFC should not cause a problem. Fully Automatic should also be no problem - I use it. What is the difference between this one and the one that worked? Did you start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders? If not, once you remove something it is gone forever. Enjoy, John.
  16. MutantTractor, what do you mean by 'Autoinstall' - Fully Automatic? Is that the Last Session you just attached? If not, please attach it. NLite should not be removing any DLLs unless they go with something you have asked to be removed. I use IE8 here, but Firefox should work. At the very bottom of the forums list is 'Site & Forum Issues' - please post there and asked what is going on now. Enjoy, John.
  17. kurtm, when the nLite Option SFC (Windows File Protection) is used, sfc_os.dll is modified and the Registry key is set to disable SFC. I do this, but restore the dll and reset the key after install. Enjoy, John.
  18. purkleturkle, sorry I do not use these tools so I am not familiar with them. Hopefully -X- will reply soon. If not, send him a PM. Attaching your Last Session and posting a screen shot would be a good start for him or someone familiar. Good luck, John.
  19. purkleturkle, you do not want to be renaming a .7z file to a .cab file. Both type files go into the nLite Hot Fix section and are handled appropriately by nLite. A 'real' or 'slipstream' type AddOn is integrated into the source files and an 'svcpack' one is setup to run at T-13 from the svcpack folder. I tried all the links and they all stink, big time. I do not permit cookies for most sites and the DL sites typically do not like that. If you will permit cookies, I think they will work. Enjoy, John.
  20. MutantTractor, I don't think any dissembling is going on here. I suspect it is one of the Applications you removed. I have removed most of what you have but not the Calculator, Accessibility Options, Defrager, Charmap, Wordpad, Games, NT Backup, Screen Savers and maybe a couple more. In the Components Task, at the bottom, is an Advanced button. It will allow to specify keep and remove for files. According to how much time you want to spend, I would like to see this problem chased down to the cause. You can put back in the removal of all the Languages and Key Boards, and maybe half of the Applications and see if it works, etc... Willing to spend some time? Enjoy, John.
  21. MutantTractor, I guess this points out that I know little about DW. I have not used it to Profile. I assume you do this running the program. It does not look good that all those DLLs are missing, but I don't know really. When you create a new ISO with nothing removed, you can use your W7 system. Let us hear. Good luck, John.
  22. MutantTractor, attached is a screen shot of DW. Enjoy, John.
  23. darrell87, the RunOnce exit in the Unattended section should run any command prompt command. The easiest thing to do is call a batch file (.bat) and include what you need. On the drivers, you want to make sure you do not point nLite to x64 drivers. One possible big problem is that you are running nLite under Vista (or W7) to create an ISO for XP. This is probably not going to work if you integrate a Service Pack, which you are. Enjoy, John.
  24. MutantTractor, I have looked at pifast41.exe with Dependency Walker and found little. You might do the same and see if anything jumps out. I do get this message, but it runs just fine. I do see in your Last Session that you still have removed some Components, so make another run and remove nothing. Do the Dependency Walker first. Did you not say that you ran the original ISO and it worked? This should mean that you do not need C++ or other stuff. Please let us know. Enjoy, John.
  25. MutantTractor, I agree. Attached is a screen shot from my VMware Server VM, running XP x64. PiFast runs fine. Please attach the Last Session for this run. Enjoy, John.EDIT: I do have some extra stuff installed - attached is a screen shot of some of it. EDIT Again: What is NoPassExpSpec in your Unattended section? I do not have this and can't tell what is by the term in the Last Session - No Password or something?
