handishen, here are the commands to specify the start page and as many as you want. Just change the names of the web sites to what you like. The ~ is used to separate the multiple URLs in the Secondary Start Pages. If you have only one Secondary page drop the ~, but not the /f. You can run it directly from the RunOnce (Unattended) tab of nLite on put the commands into a batch (.bat) file and run the file from RunOnce. I have tried this directly, but not during an install. Please give it a try and let us know what you learn. Enjoy, John. REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main" /v "Start Page" /d http://www.google.com /f REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main" /v "Secondary Start Pages" /s ~ /t REG_MULTI_SZ /d http://Mail.yahoo.com~http://my.yahoo.com /f

leinan, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Enjoy, John.
-
handishen, sorry, but this is not the way to accomplish this. I have found at least one other place (NLITE.IN_) where the Start Page is set. I think the way to do it is with a register tweak run from the RunOnce exit. Enjoy, John.
-
mzik, it's called Repair and you need to select Prompt Repair as the Unattended Mode. As Ponch pointed out, it is in the nLite FAQs as well as several times in this forum where a search would have found it. Enjoy, John.

olddude, I don't understand how leaving the key blank allowed you to continue your install. Since your system is running, please post a screen shot of its asking for the key. Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Enjoy, John.

mrwolf, I am almost out of ideas. The only thing I can think of is what kind of source do you have? Is it OEM, Retail, VLK, recovery or something else? For instance, some recovery CDs contain changes that interfere with the integration process. Please let us know. Enjoy, John.

smallcave, the computer name I specify in the Unattended section works fine for me. Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Does the translation to simple-Chinese help or not? Enjoy, John. smallcave,我在未看管的部分工作优良指定为我的计算机名称。 请附有(不是浆糊)您的前Session.ini。 只保证总是开始以您CD的文件或文件夹的一个新拷贝,完成所有您的工作在一个nLite会议上并且集成一SP。 对简单中国帮助的翻译? 享用,约翰。

TranceEnergy, take a look at this post. I am working on the non-integrate. Enjoy, John.

handishen, I do not think you can set a specific site using nLite or set a second homepage. After you run nLite (select Google as homepage) you can edit HIVEDEF.INF (probably in your i386 folder, use notepad) and look for this key: HKCU,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main","Start Page",0x00000000,"http://www.google.com/" Change the URL to one you like. I do not know how to set the key for the second one but you can try this: HKCU,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main","Secondary Start Pages",0x00000000,"http://www.second.com/"Please let us know what you learn. Enjoy, John. EDIT: handishen, I have done some testing and this does not work correctly. If you want to experiment, please note that I have added an s to Secondary Start Page. I will repost when I have more information. Enjoy, John.

tictoc, starting with a fresh copy of the CD files/folders is not just good housekeeping, but is a requirement. I would really like to see your Last Session.ini that contains the removal of all the listed Directors. I suspect your success is just coincidental with not deleting the directories. Running nLite multiple time against the same source produces strange and varied symptoms. Some may not show for some time after install when you are testing/using your system. You certainly can use the Preset from the Last Session, but you should always start with a fresh source. Enjoy, John.
-
mrwolf, not sure what. When you put in your key, does the install progress OK? When you are asked for the key, does it give any error or reason for asking? I assume you did this experiment on a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, did all your work in one nLite session and included only one SP. If not all three, please repeat the experiment. Look in your Last Session_u.ini (don't post it) and see if the CDkey is correct. Have you tried erasing and keying your key in again in the Unattended task? Thanks for the test and report. Enjoy, John.

IE8 RC1 is now available from MS Download Center. It also does not integrate as the other RC1 versions we tried. The /integrate switch is missing. If someone is a member of the IE8 team (or what ever MS calls it), please report this problem (also the /log switch does not work). Enjoy, John. EDIT: I discovered I could call MS for free on IE8, so I did. They are to call me back. We'll have to see if anything comes of this. John.

smallcave, you have selected the Fully Automated mode in the Unattended section of nLite. This will prevent the Repair option from being available. Please go to the Unattended section and click the ? to the right of Unattended Mode. You will see the last option is Prompt Repair. This will prevent a fully automatic install, but will give the Repair option. Try the Prompt Repair mode. Please let us know what you learn.

turbines, don't know, but you have remove many services and the problem could well be there. Please look in your System Log in the Event viewer and see if there are any errors there around the time your application crashes. You definitely need to upgrade to the latest version of nLite (1.4.9.1). Enjoy, John.

tozo, since I have an English copy of Windows, I see three languages under Turkic. The two you see plus Turkish. Since you are running Turkish Windows, I assume you want to keep it but not the other two. I assume you checked the two, which is not shown in your screen shot. I suspect Windows will not let the whole group of Turkic be deleted because it contains the language of your copy of Windows (Turkish). Perhaps only nuhi can tell us if this is true. Enjoy, John.

redxii, you need to point leinan to the proper discussion of how to use these addons. I am not a user of RVM packages. leinan, go to the RVM site and look for usage instructions. Enjoy, John.

TranceEnergy, thanks, I am glad to see MS finally post the real RC1. I tried doing a direct integrate and it failed. It also failed to generate a requested log file, but gave me a list of switches, which did not contain the /integrate switch. Thanks, John.

mrwolf, I assume you are sure you entered the exact correct key? If so, try unchecking all the tasks you do not really use, such as Remove Components, Tweaks, Options and see if it will work. If this does not work, uncheck SkipOOBE box. Are you seeing any other errors during nLite or install? Please let us know what you learn. Enjoy, John.

smallcave, sorry, I do not understand your problem. Are you getting an error when installing? If so, exactly what is the error message? You can try putting your reply in simple-Chinese and I will translate using Babel Fish. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP.

cynik606, try the attached file. Just extract it (I used 7-Zip). Please note, it is in REVERSE order. KB960714 and KB958215 are very close to the top, meaning they should be almost last in your list. I got this list from jcarle's Windows Update Downloader. Enjoy, John.

cynik606, I think these hot fixes and possibly more are out of order. RyanVm has a list of post SP3 updates that might help. It looks like he has many hot fixes that might not be needed. I have not used Update Packs and am not familiar with them, but I was surprised that there were so many updates. I would suggest you use his list to get you hot fixes in order and see if that corrects you problem. Enjoy, John

Sorry, leinan, I don't have a clue what you are talking about. I think the newest DirectX is 10, but the latest for XP is 9c. I use Kurt_Aust's process to integrate it into my XP x64 with this code: %Source%AddOns\directx_aug2008_redist.exe /Q /T:%Temp%\DirectX_9C %Temp%\DirectX_9c\DXsetup.exe /Silent RmDir /S /Q %Temp%\DirectX_9CThis runs out of the RunOnce exit. You need to tell us much more about what you are doing to what, using what. Enjoy, John.

supersheep, that is a great link you found - thanks. I have only used nLite and not done an install on hardware (I use VMware Server). I am getting ready for AMD to announce a processor I want, then I am going to build a new computer. One thing I think has changed is the location of the $OEM$ folder. I think if you look in you source folder (after running nLite) you will find it parallel to i386, not inside. It certainly is in my setup (XP x64). NLite does not use this method, but it should work. Also take a look at the NLDRV folder in your nLited source, probably in your i386 folder. The files, in the 001, 002 , etc folders, will be compressed (_ as last name character), but these are your driver files. Have you tried doing an install with your drivers on a floppy and using F6? Perhaps the drivers you are trying to use are not the correct ones. I would suggest doing this, if you have not already, before you strike off on any other technique. BTW, there is an Unattended sub forum here that talks about these procedures also. I have not used it and am not familiar with it. Enjoy, John.

supersheep, WoW, if I think of something, I'll let you know. In your CD \SUPPORT\TOOLS folder is a file called DEPLOY.CAB and in that cab are two .chm (help) files. Extract the .CAB file (I use 7-Zip) and these help files (especially deploy.chm) will explain the txtsetup.sif and winnt.sif files. Please let us know what your learn. Enjoy, John.

cluberti, please tell us how to use process monitor to diagnose the WUD attempt. Thanks, John. paul_f, I see nothing in your Last Session that concerns me. Adding SP3 and updates to a CD issued with SP2 should be OK. Most running XP are using IE7. Does your update pack have IE7 updates? There have been some problems with recovery disks. Please try cutting an ISO from just the source CD and no changes. You can just select 'Create bootable ISO' in nLite. Let us know if that works. Enjoy, John.
