  1. Why can't Microsoft for once respect people's choice regarding upgrading to this ****...even if I turn off the function for now...Microsoft install 11 anyway.....?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So sick of this company and not respecting the user's choices.... bookie32
  2. Thanks for the update....you live and learn... bookie32
  3. Just had contact with Medion computers who are a part of Lenovo... My customer has been experiencing all sorts of problems with power button not working properly...computer not having the right drivers etc... Because I am in Sweden when I search for Medion this link comes up...if I go down the page it has a "Looking for drivers, program software, manuals etc"...if I enter the MSN number for her computer 30030073 the response is... So there are manuals for the computer but at this time they don't have drivers... they rely on Microsoft to fix everything...go figure.... Last time I will even consider recommending their computers...Lenovo I haven't a problem with - but this is a joke....Microsoft fixing things?!!!!!!! Microsoft couldn't punch their way out of a paper bag!! bookie32
  4. The title of this thread looks familiar... Ok...already said it but this **** is worse than 10 and that really hurts to say....something worse than 10.... I have, as already pointed out, reset several computers back to Windows 10 and none of them have gone smoothly.. The user experience as already stated here is crap!! Many computers that have upgraded like Windows 10 just do not work properly..... I thought my works computer could be upgraded when Windows 11 becomes more stable....if that will ever happen....or are they just going to dump it and move on to 12...?!! It would seem while having the TPM module I can't upgrade my processor....Microsoft have changed the minds so many times regarding what will support 11 and what won't....gives one a headache just trying to keep with the lies and the deceit... I, for one, will not likely change my opinion of this **** company any time soon.... I need to keep updated with Windows for my customers' - but don't intend laying out good money on a new build any time soon.... bookie32
  5. Hi Guys! With the crap coming in Windows 11....I have a hard time deciding what the future might be regarding Windows..... I would even go as far as saying that Windows 11 is worse than Windows 10 when that was released... I am so fed up with the replies one gets from Microsoft...."we have designed a more logical operating system that makes more sense to the user2.....as far as the user is concerned...Microsoft doesn't give a crap and we all know that....not news....Microsoft doesn't seem to want to listen to the user at all...and every small concession from them is rewarded with something worse...?!! Typical scenario at the moment (that isn't ever likely to change): Customers daughter lives in England was experiencing problems with Windows 11 and some games... Can I help from Sweden... I would say 85 to 90% of my customers would not have been able to fix this... I checked at Lenovo for info regarding the release of the computer and what OS it came with and IF there were drivers available for Windows 11.....nada(not Lenovo's fault...just because of everything else happening in the world - they hadn't caught up with the latest crap from Microsoft) My customer was of the opinion that the computer came with Windows 11 - but after several emails back and forth she accepted that she might have upgraded by mistake.. I proceeded with the help of Lenovo to guide my customer with downloading a recovery image and creating a USB to fix her computer....I really thought that it would be tough - but the next email I receive is with windows 10 back on the computer and her games were and are working well again... I give praise where it is due and she exceeded all of my customers in this adventure... Mind you I was worried by her reply after a few days of testing... "It must have been something do with Windows 11...I suppose?" I kept my reply to "Yes Windows 11" did not have that heart to say any more on the subject! bookie32
  6. Hi guys! Don't know where to post this... Every computer I install with firefox, chrome etc...I remove yahoo....bing etc from the default search engine list....but as of today with the latest update that is not possible... I checked my works computer and that always is up to date because of the hours I sit working on it... I started my play computer and checked chrome and the "Make Default" "Edit" and "Remove from list" were still available but chrome updated and then the "Remove from list" was removed.... Has anyone else noticed this.... bookie32
  7. I have to admit my first impressions of Windows 11 are a result of a customer recently buying a new computer and coming to me after having problems after upgrading to Windows 11... I have no test version of this OS because the only computer I have that can upgrade to Windows 11 is my customer work computer and I point blank refuse to upgrade this computer with another pile of crap from Windows until I have to.... Yes...it makes it hard for me to test Windows 11 which does worry me a bit... Anyway....customer came with Windows 11 and I have to say it is more illogical than ever!! I had a hard time finding things and many of the normal functions "right click" were not available in certain areas..... I just got frustrated with searching for stuff and she asked me to reset it to Windows 10.....YES...probably the only time I will ever be elated about Windows 10....lol Microsoft couldn't even fix the return to Windows 10 without messing up a lot of settings etc.... I fixed the problems and advise her not to upgrade for at least a year....pointed out that Windows 10 has support until 2025 and that was good enough for her..... After doing a search online - I find that more often than not people are returning to Windows 10 because they just couldn't get on with Windows 11.... bookie32
  8. I am getting an increasing amount of customers complaining about no signal HDMI to monitor after update from Microsoft? I recently had one of these computers on test and found nothing wrong with the hardware after extensive tests... I just turned off Microsoft installing drivers for hardware (which often doesn't work - but then again what does) and reinstalled the latest driver for graphics card from (in this case Nvidia). That seemed to fix the problem but it does get one down fixing things after Microsoft bungling things.....!!! bookie32
  9. Hi guys! Just wanted to say Happy New Year to everyone on the forum..... Let us hope we can have a better one this year..... bookie32
  10. Hi TrevMUN! Thanks for the info.... Yes, once upon a time I could have considered making a Hackintosh.....but that was then.... Nowadays I just prefer Linux....
  11. I agree....I use Windows 10 for business and for private use Linux....XP was best and Windows 7 not a bad upgrade.....but since.....CRAP!! bookie32
  12. I have been reading the posts on this thread and Tony52 you have had a lot of input from those that know and it seems that you still are really not sure what to do....Windows 10 is crap and that is why I started the "Official - Windows 10 Worst Crap Ever!"...and what I have seen here about Windows 11....well, I won't even go down that road... If Linux is too much of a jump for you - THEN your options are restricted.... Windows 10/11 on the one hand = Crap Linux on another = Best option but takes getting to know... Mac is always a good option = EXPENSIVE!! So....it comes down to putting up with an OS one doesn't like and keep doing as many do....hope for improvement....which isn't coming and likely never will... Sorry....my view on your situation..... No offense intended! bookie32
  13. It is good we can speculate...just I don't see the point where Microsoft are concerned..... They lie and lie to us so what is the point of discussions on what Microsoft will, won't, are going to do? Sorry....don't believe anything I see from Microsoft any more....they change their minds from day to day.....?!!!!!!!!!! bookie32
  14. Sorry was just posting the result when you posted! Thanks for coming by! bookie32
  15. Hi guys! I have solved this issue without having to do a recovery.... Firstly...I swore some time ago I would never let Microsoft support in another customer computer....- but I was a little desperate for answers.... I will add it was a waste of time and he came up with what others have said a partial recovery- but I wasn't having any of that and thanked him and went back to the drawing board... I tried once more with the following: sfc /scannow dism /online /cleanup-image /scannhealth dism /online /cleanup-image /restorhealth Had no errors and rebooted - but the same problem remained....couldn't find any upgrade on window update... I did one final check... I right clicked on drive to do disk-cleanup and then cleanup-system files... When I looked in the list there was old image files....I removed them and cleaned up windows update directory and rebooted... I clicked on Windows update and this time 20H2 came up and has installed with all updates....no sign of 21H1 but that isn't a problem Now it could be that the customer missed an error on upgrading and it caused the problem because there were already system problems...no point in speculating now...it works! I am not sure this will help any others in the same boat....just wanted to say it is solved. bookie32
  16. Hi guys! Have a customer that had a warning come up about her Windows 10 version being old....I took over her computer and saw that 20H2 was ready for installation , so I started the process and told my customer to keep an eye on it and report to me if any errors came up... She didn't get any errors and came to me to update the bios on the machine.... I saw that 1909 was still installed and this warning was on windows update: The problem is a search didn't give any updates or a sign of a failed 20H2 update?! I then tried to update it from a USB I created and it gets to: I did a check and several have had such problems but the solutions suggested didn't work.. I checked the system with sfx /scannow and used dism to check version health etc....no problems at all... I have tried resetting Windows SoftwareDistribution but that doesn't help either.... My problem is....the customer has several book keeping programs installed and reinstalling is a lot of work and I would like to avoid that... Has anyone any suggestions? This is a Windws 10 Pro 1909 version bookie32
  17. What still amazes me is people still go out and buy it......
  18. Sorry...am I missing something here.... It is updated and doesn't work.... I thank you for your time but not going to reinstall Windows to get this working..... It can stay as it is... bookie32
  19. When I start Word Excel or Power Point I get the following error roughly translated from Swedish... "An error occurred while retrieving the current templates, so it is not possible to view them right now." I then get two options to "Try again" or "Work offline" If I click "work offline" I get all the default templates No I am not logged into Microsoft bookie32
  20. Hi again. Office is 15.0.4420.1017 Windows 10 is 2004 and 120.2212.551.0 I have now removed and reinstalled completely but same error remains... I can look at templates offline and that works but only offline...? bookie32
  21. Hi guys! When I start Word I usually get the assortment of default templates appear at the same time... Just lately I get a download error? I have looked at solutions and repairing office....done...didn't help... I haven't Visio Viewer installed... I have Office 2013 Professional Plus on another compute and it is loading the default templates on start up... Has anyone any suggestions? bookie32
  22. It never ceases to amaze me how much people trouble go to even before Microsoft has decided how Windows 11 should be....The TPM part just ****** me off and one cannot trust anything Microsoft states from one day to the next..... The videos already out there on how to install, setup, and do so many changes and the full release hasn't even appeared..... Why waste so much energy on such things when we will never know what they are really intending to do to the last minute.... Just seen a video and Microsoft changed information on their website before the guy could even finish his video It is the same old story over and over....Microsoft as a company are a bunch of lying ********. Just don't understand people putting their trust in Microsoft or companies that behave like them?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rant finished.....I think... bookie32
