  1. Interesting question..... I really can't decide on a version because I genuinely think Windows 10 as being the biggest load of crap that we have had to put up with.... XP and Windows 7 were the closest that Microsoft have got to being good....but we all have different opinions on that and I respect all opinions.... Sorry, could not bring myself to picking a version.... bookie32
  2. Ok....I hear you..I can also say that certain programs I use are not available in Linux...plus I need to keep up to date with Windows because of customers..so, I have several work computers that are just Windows 10 and many that are Linux....I know there are deep discussions on which version of Linux one can use...I have used many and my favourite was Dreamlinux but there was just too much squabbling behind the scenes and it disappeared from the market place. I prefer debian xfce because Debian is so stable. I add the stuff I want and then maintain it. I also have several servers that have Openmediavault on them...a Debian based server distribution that works well. bookie32
  3. Well...now there is a surprise.......lol
  4. Hi guys! Have checked several threads but still can't find where Microsoft stores email for the email app... I have Windows 2004..... I have looked in AppData\Local\Packages\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps... in localstate there is no indexed folder?! Can anyone shed some light on this... bookie32
  5. As you all will see I have changed my profile to show Windows 10 x64. And yes...most of you know why I started this thread...but because of restrictions för bank tasks via older versions of Windows I was forced to update.... But it is still CRAP!
  6. Now there is something I wasn't considering when wondering why Windows 10 is so slow......
  7. Hi Noel! Thanks as always for your updates... I still look for something that I can find positive with Windows 10....but sadly I can't...Windows 10 has shown so many things that do not work and it varies from version to version what (if anything) has improved (or got worse). I have seen such simple things as "plug and play" not work at times....One aspect of Windows I have never liked is One Drive. People start there new computers and come to connecting to there network and nearly everyone connects to their Lan or Wifi and then you have to log in with a Microsoft account....it causes so much problems for the elderly that have short term memory problems. Even if you don't connect to your network and create a local account...Microsoft is forever asking us to finish off our settings and create a Microsoft account....as soon as folks do this and get conned into One drive...it ***** up their system folders and it is a pain to fix...Never liked One Drive and if I want to use it I login to my Microsoft account to transfer stuff I want on line for support. I had a customer the other day that had forgotten their login password and had no Idea of how to fix it....most of my pensioners are just not any good at writing up passwords etc ...and even if they do...they forget where they have written them....Of course I fixed this now with a local account and no password so they do not have to try and remember them... My partner likes Microsoft Teams and thinks that works well...several other customers have commented about that ...but I won't even waste energy on Microsoft and stick to third party software..... I upgraded my work computers to Windows 10 a while back and that is 1909. I froze all updates...removed all apps....and it has been OK...still prefer Windows 7 over this rubbish! The downside of this is going to the next update and going through the procedure again....just wish Microsoft could respect their users settings and leave them alone....
  8. Well, that told me....lol...thanks jaclaz....can always rely on you.... Thanks for the information...will have a look and stop trusting Microsoft....lol....hang on was it me that wrote that.......lol bookie32
  9. Hi guys! I am getting really fed up with this Windows 10 ****....I have set up indexing to add the drives I want and it says all done but quick search isn't finding half of the information related to a customer.... I restarted indexing again and once again it is finished....BUT quick search isn't finding all files... If I go to the drive and the directory...then it finds them.... Any suggestions..... bookie32
  10. Hi jaclaz! Thanks for the info as usual... I could not download the removal of the S mode with out logging in ....hence creating an account... Going to have a look at your info for future reference... Thanks again for coming by... bookie32
  11. Hi guys! So Microsoft are not happy enough with the s*** we have to deal with already...they decide to produce more?! Just had the first laptop I have started with S mode active... Had no idea about this and was trying to install the standard software I usually install for my customers...and get blocked by Microsoft...saying to use Microsoft Store?! I am so fed up with the so called excuses for this type of crap from Microsoft! I was forced (didn't know how else to fix it) to create a Microsoft account for my customer just to remove this s***... Am I the only one ****** off with this crap? bookie32
  12. Hi guys Have a customer that has several computers where she would like to stop Internet access for her users....at these terminals Internet is not needed... But she wants to leave the general Internet on in background for Windows updates... Is this possible in Windows 10 Home..... The users have only Standard accounts... Thanks! bookie32
  13. You are entitled to your opinion and no the majority of Windows users don't disagree with me...rubbish...it's your opinion - but don't include everyone else because you haven't a clue about what you are stating. Linux was never good enough for Microsoft...all of a sudden things are different?! Linux has a far better support and development network than Microsoft ever will...and because you say you haven't much experience of Linux...then my advice...get some before having an opinion...
  14. One already has a choice..Run Linux or Windows...Linux should never be connected to anything to do with Microsoft. Windows is crap and Linux is much supperior...end of story...😀
  15. Microsoft are not happy enough to be ****** up Windows 10 they have to drag Linux into the mix in the form of WSL2....What the hell is going on! Linux is, and always will be, far superior to Windows....If people want Linux then use Linux and stop this crap!! Microsoft just can't leave well alone...they are failing as a company and want to add Linux on their list....God help us!! Not a happy bunny! bookie32
  16. Jesus...just getting to grips with 1909 and they are releasing 2004...why don't they simply call it 2020.. Would make it easier to remember which year the rubbish was released
  17. Hi guys! I just wonder what apps can be removed without causing problems.... For Example I use skype but can that can be installed instead of using the built in app? The same for Office app...I have office so don't nned the app...? Can someone give me the ins and outs of removing these and other apps? bookie56
  18. Hi alacran! Thanks for the update! bookie32
  19. Hi Guys! Can someone do an update here.... I have a test Windows ** computer and would like to know who has the most up to date list of what to do and not do on Windows ** Pro... I wll not be using the Home version... Would appreciate some up to date feed back....and I know that I am behind the times....been avoiding Windows ** like the plague....sorry for the pun.... bookie32
  20. You have a point there.....lol....ok here goes Windows ten......lol bookie32
  21. I am not happy but coming around to the fact I need to make a decision about upgrading... Have your got a procedure for avoiding all the crap with this version of Windows... A lot has been discussed here...just wondering what is the best way to go about installing this .......Windows.......version....can't bring myself to say it....lol bookie56
  22. Sorry I do not believe that crap written by these so called experts... Windows defender is only good enough if you know what you are doing.... If you just totally rely on it out of the box...more fool you.... Microsoft have produced the worst operative system since Windows came on the scene and suddenly they are good at an antivirus solution....don't make me laugh.... Sorry....serious tests done do not show it as favourable as your links.... bookie32
