  1. Because it's a Release Candidate (RC), it's not the final AIK yet. File Name: KB3AIK_EN.iso Version: RC
  2. Many wireless devices need it, my UMTS card does for example. So, better safe than sorry.
  3. It also needs Zipfldr.dll, which nLite probably ditched. Copy it from a pristine source to %windir%\system32 and then register the dll, by typing regsvr32 /u %windir%\system32\zipfldr.dll in a cmd-prompt.
  4. An incorrect driver does NOT raise the temps over 85 °C (192 °F). This is caused by bad hardware, a broken fan is most likely.
  5. The Adaptec files are most likely ASPI drivers that Roxio relies on, so I would not remove them.
  6. It could be very well possible that an AV is preventing the change.
  7. The services below must be set to automatic on Windows XP SP3 for wireless to work. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ;DHCP Client [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dhcp] "Start"=dword:00000002 ;Wired AutoConfig (SP3) [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dot3svc] "Start"=dword:00000002 ;Extensible Authentication Protocol Service (SP3) [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EapHost] "Start"=dword:00000002 ;Health Key and Certificate Management Service (SP3) [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\hkmsvc] "Start"=dword:00000002 ;Network Access Protection Agent (SP3) [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\napagent] "Start"=dword:00000002 ;Remote Access Auto Connection Manager [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasAuto] "Start"=dword:00000002 ;Remote Access Connection Manager [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan] "Start"=dword:00000002 ;Telephony [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TapiSrv] "Start"=dword:00000002 ;Wireless Zero Configuration [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WZCSVC] "Start"=dword:00000002
  8. John, I never payed attention to it, until I noticed this thread. I always use lusrmgr.msc myself.
  9. The switch for silent installation of the MSI is indeed /qb. Create a file named cmdlines.txt and place it in the $OEM$ root (thus not in any sub directory). The syntax for cmdlines.txt (for your viewer and the reg file) is: [COMMANDS] "$1\Install\ppviewer.msi /qb" "regedit /s $1\Install\tweaks.reg" Additional information about cmdlines.txt can be found here.

Did you remove items with nLite or something, or is it a pristine Windows installation?
  11. Hmm, I can reproduce this bug on all my machines too. Seems Microsoft never fixed it since they confirmed it as a bug (KB886617).
  12. Office Integrator can build Office viewers, and slipstream relevant hotfixes too, see tab: Config 2.
  13. Yes, your installation disc might get some infected files on it. But why not try to clean your system first? http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php http://www.superantispyware.com/ Good luck.
  14. Hi, Are those systems not part of a domain? Because simple file sharing always gets disabled automaticly when a computer joins a domain. Maybe try the Microsoft 'fix': http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307874 (but essentially, it does exactly the same). BTW, there's no need to set ControlSet001 and -002, CurrentControlSet is enough.
  15. New Style Setup Billboards Background Image
  16. It should work. Keep your old one in the anti-static bag and the box that your new one ships in.
  17. Ontrack or Testdisk. While Recuva is nice, keep in mind that it only works in Windows, so it's not useful to recover data from DOS or cmdline.
  18. Yes, it does matter whether you install 32 or 64 bit, since you can't exchange drivers between 32 and 64 bit platforms. Anyway, if you install 32 (or 64 bit XP), you'll need these: http://support.asus.com/download/download....SLanguage=en-us Just select the applicable 32 or 64 bit version(s). For integrating, you'll need at least the chipset driver. But I would pick the audio driver as well. To integrate the drivers, look here for some tutorials and guides.
  19. Yes, it's uses the exact same chipset. BTW, the link I provided is for Vista 32 bit. You can change it to another OS on top of the page.
  20. Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe It's right under Chipset: - NVIDIA nForce NF560 Chipset Package (package includes regular SATA driver) And if you use SATA RAID, you'll need this one too: - NVIDIA SATA RAID Driver Disk URL: http://support.asus.com/download/download....SLanguage=en-us (can't direct link, due to Java scripts that start the downloads).
  21. No, nLite can't do that. Edit: But there are other ways.
  22. Regarding drivers, you might want to take a look at DriverGrabber. It grabs all installed drivers to a folder, so you can easily re-install them later on or on a fresh XP installation...
  23. No, you still lose because you still have to fix the infected box, because you didn't take precautions; like hosts file blocks and ditto IE zones, allowed them or yourself to use known hazards like P2P programs, allowed and assigned them or yourself admin privileges, et cetera. No firewall will help against that.
