  1. they can use columns too?! *sigh* why can Micro$oft just let us change this in a cpl app or something? Then again, that wouldn't be MS would it? P.S. Where is it in TweakUI?
  2. M$ is "supporting" seemingly "illegal" stuff? N.B. Diet KaZaa seems to be one of those "bad" software that taps into the Kazaa network. Even though this is the "real" Kazaa, isn't MS one of those piracy haters? And isn't Kazaa by Sharman Networks and not by the company "Kazaa"?
  3. no offense, but there always this "somebody" that dig up old posts on every single forum there is in existence (except for those "special" top-secret ones, of course) Does anybody have this problem with SP2 final?
  4. well, it keeps the id--I mean "users" off poor techs' backs, so it's kind of a tradeoff

    Notepad

there's the instructions from the website of a similar notepad replacement: http://www.liquidninja.com/metapad/faq.html#Q3 they also have several other ways of "installing" a notepad replacement. but you could always use the good ol' Replacer to replace the three files.
  6. here's a simple batch file that'll do the job. @ECHO OFF TITLE Restarting explorer.... tskill explorer.exe explorer.exe exit save this as restartexplorer.cmd this can also be used with the right click thing detailed above.
  7. the help file doesn't seem very helpful, but here is it anyways in case somebody can find some use of it: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_...ient_readme.txt
  8. thanks! yeah, I never use USB on printers because of shortage of USB ports. BTW, that looks like the regular version...what's the difference in that one? EDIT: I just realized that HP printer drivers extract to a temp directory on start of install.
  9. shouldn't we start a mini-guide category or something?
  10. @cxxxkies: I read somewhere that the logged error is expected, but the thing will work.
  11. 1 joke-loving forum member to have the rest waiting for 6 month. 3 loudmouths to say that it's not polite to have guest waiting.
  12. If you're talking about the "original" version, I think there was one on annoyances.org, in the jokes section. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1 forum member to say that there are other jokes sections on the web that has the same thing. 10 forums members to point out 30 different websites that has similar sections.
  13. on a side note, how do you disable the admin account?
  14. if you use the unattended method, you could always apply registry patches to customize most of the stuff.
  15. Download my Hacked Files Pack for slipstreamed SP2 For your purposes, you only need the tcpip.sy_ file. Copy that to the i386 folder and overwrite the existing file. More info about this stuff: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=23719 THE ABOVE FILES ARE NOT FOR AN ALREADY INSTALLED XP SYSTEM! BE SURE THAT YOU ARE APPLYING THIS ON A SP2 FINAL SLIPSTREAMED CD!
  16. thanks, but did most of my manual work already and have very limited disk space, so that would be a really big hassle. Is there a good manual method? EDIT: NVM, Brain was on vacation anyways, successful with nlite
  17. btw, is there a way to remove all language and then install the extra language from another xp cd?
  18. better post this in the xp or unattended forums instead of here P.S. I heard (read) that if you had customizations done to the source of the slipstream (pre-slipstreamed cd) it won't work -- you have to start "clean" and do the customizations after slipstream
  19. @ignant: I got the termsrv in my version of the files and that's it. Be sure to apply the termsrv reg file (attached to first post) or its not going to work. Again, I apologize for the problems @hedger: As far as I know, the files should work fine for ever slipstreamed sp2 cd. Just replace the files in i386.
