1. For the record, my various hosts are pretty much now dead. Since my local copy is also gone (dad reformatted without telling me), I can't upload it. I'm honestly surprised anyone's still looking for this thing though. And although it may seem as if I've been ignoring all the replies, in fact I haven't been on MSFN for the past oh, I dunno, year and a half, at all (OK, so I was on for a while at the beginning of the year, but that's it). My deepest apologies, but I'd encourage people to look elsewhere. P.S. I just realized the link DisabledTrucker posted is still live. Go back a page and you'll find it. My belated thanks to DisabledTrucker, especially since I don't even have a copy anymore.
2. Sorry for bumping this old thread, I still can't believe how I could have possibly forgotten about it for a month. Anyways, thanks for the info. It's not that urgent, so I'll wait for a few months (and by then any recommendations posted here won't be useful anymore, sorry).
3. I'm currently building a mid-range system. Any ideas as to what I should get? P.S. Here are the components I've picked so far. 4. I know, I know. My PHP scripts are not being parsed.
5. You can try using MR Tech AOL Cleaner to remove the extras and then try uninstalling the core. If all else fails, you can always try living with it
6. Spybot seems to remove obsolete OpenWith entries. Not sure if this'll help you, but you should be running regular spyware scans anyways. Instructions: 1) First, make sure you are in advanced mode. (Tools -> Advanced Mode should be checked) 2) Settings -> File Sets Make sure everything is checked. Update, then run a scan.
7. So do you mean the "open with" list? try Start -> Run -> regedit Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts Find the extension you want on the left pane, click on OpenWithList remove the apps from the list on the right. Make sure you remove the corresponding entry from MRUList ------------ For example. I clicked on .jar in FileExts I then clicked on OpenWithList I remove one of the entries, a which corresponds to FIREFOX.EXE I change MRUList from cba (don't worry about the order here, but if it does concern you, just do it in reverse order, which seems to be how Windows does it.) to cb because those two are left. Again, this is only an example. This will work with any extension. EDIT: Added the example.
8. As ColdFusion said, why not stick with Firefox? If it's the look if Internet Explorer you are going for then try http://johnhaller.com/jh/mozilla/firefox_internet_explorer/ There's really no reason (except maybe for Windows Update, but somebody even came up with a solution to that) that you would need to use IE. P.S. You say you are using "another browser". What exactly are you using?
9. BitDefender is a 2-in-1 antivirus/firewall. It's probably conflicting with ZA, AVG, or both. Try uninstalling it. If you search on the internet, you'll see why you should never run 2 antivirus or 2 firewalls at the same time. You also mentioned about unplugging your mouse. Buy a cheap $2 mouse (or use a spare), plug that in, and see if the mouse is the problem here.
10. EFS is like that. If you do not have the right permissions to access the file (a new profile/account would do that to you), all operations are pretty much "locked" (except formatting the entire drive, of course).
11. Sorry guys. As my teacher says, "When you are away, you miss stuff." Well, I've been away for a year, and I've missed a year of complaints. However, I have found a good host. (Hopefully) current working link
12. I know the title is a bit....err...strange . Anyways, I need to find free hosting before I get an angry mob chasing me. Any suggestions?
13. @jquintino: it is live...or it should be. I don't have time for it now, but I'll get it updated ASAP. PM me with your email address. I'll get it to you faster that way.
14. any differences if I ALREADY used nLite to get rid of WMP? P.S. With wmp10setup in svcpack AND our little cab, doesn't it take MORE space?
15. error checking complete. Should work perfectly now.
16. It might be a damaged XP CD (I know my is missing some files)
17. Version 2.0 officially released. Still kinda raw. I recommend that you wait a couple of hours before downloading for me to do some error checking.
18. sorry guys, been offline for a month. @Palm tree: Sorry, limited bandwith. registering for a couple of new subdomains (free, btw) right now
19. cybri2k: If you downloaded sfc_os a bit earlier, I apologize because I forgot to mention the reg patch. there are posts that state you need to use SFCSetting for SP2 (everything else same) uxtheme, termsrv, and tcpip, I have in the pack. I have a copy of the hacked and patched tcpip. Will post later.
20. e.g. Mozilla/Firefox/Thunderfox temp files is stored there as well. Just be careful of the rest of the profile
21. this fake window thing might help (produces the "js ad" effect I told you about): http://slayeroffice.com/?c=/content/code/fakeWindow.html This is the Browser in Browser one (the frame part of my "plan"): http://javascript.internet.com/navigation/browser.html
