  1. OT MSFN Forum Rules. Rule #9 What if he doesn't want to use nLite?
  2. If you're installing StyleXP just for using unsigned themes, check out this page. Sorry for not answering your original question.
  3. Do you need a reg-tweak or you need a solution? I've got the latter... [Shell] DefaultStartPanelOff = Yes Check out winnt.sif reference in the guide. It's there.
  4. AFAIK, cdimage was never intended for public use. Perhaps, that's the reason? Although GUI-wrapped cdimage is still cdimage So I'm not sure whether it's ok to post a direct link... Google for download cdimage.exeand follow... yeah, the first link Actually, I agree. I like the old way better and still use it.
  5. I guess he means it's recommended for self-education You don't need to use it, just read and see how it is done.
  6. What exactly is your question about? . You can continue with Office only if you need it You can use pretty much the whole guide except for SP2 slipstreaming page.
  7. You still can do this through setup.ini, but a batch script like the one posted by layzie2 may be easier.
  8. You can use Setup.ini method with the Chained Install. Basically, you add a sections to setup.ini where you outline the updates you wish to install right after the main office installation. Something like [ChainedInstall_1] TASKTYPE=exe PATH=MSIExec.exe CmdLine=/update Updates\KB842532_mso-Binary-GLB.msp /qbThe advantage is that the office distro size is smaller (compared to admin install) and you don't need admin updates, just the client ones (they are smaller too). I guess this method has been discussed somewhere in this forum. It'd be nice to add a guide to uA site. Russian version does have such a guide Links: Setup Settings File Setup Sequence of Events Methods of Customizing Office
  9. It's here http://unattended.msfn.org/advanced/methods/wpi.htm
  10. [COMMANDS] "REGEDIT /S filename.reg" would be correct Added: Here's the explanation on when to export the tweaks Link That one is mine, I'm sure there are lots of others on the board. The guide desperately needs the article on reg tweaks.
  11. There was a guide somewhere on how to install Daemon Tools and add Mount option to the ISO context menu. I'm sure you'll find it, if needed
  12. You don't need to change anything. The ISO image size is not limited by CD capacity.
  13. You asked how to tweak the default user profile, and got the correct answer: import tweaks at T-12 from cmdlines.txt. I guess, you need to re-phrase you question then...
  14. Theres' no English MUI. Various localized MUIs are for installing on Windows XP Pro English only.
  15. It's not possible specify the path switchlessly Please, see this thread http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=37014
  16. Hmmm.. I thought I was subscribed to this thread MtK Yeah, I guess one could use MST and Setup.ini together, but I was talking about the installation methods. There's no need to configure the installation thru MST, if you specify the install options in setup.ini.
  17. You've got your slashes wrong. This is supposed to be [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]As for your question on Folder options settings, make the settings you want, export HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced and import it from cmdlines.txt
  18. HKCU stands for HKEY_CURRENT_USER. You may see different opinions about that. The purpose of applying HKCU tweaks at T-12 is to apply the changes to all users [created thereafter]. If you use the built-in Admin account and it's the only account on your machine, then it doesn't matter when to apply the tweaks. If you have more than one account and you want apply the HKCU tweaks to all accounts, then you need to import the HKCU tweaks at T-12.As for the HKLM (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE) tweaks, I prefer to imoprt them at first logon. They will be applied to all users anyway, but some of them may not "stick" at T-12.
  19. Perhaps, you need to update the BIOS http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885626
  20. Generally, it should work as any other HKCU tweak. You will know for sure after running the tweak from cmdlines.txt
  21. It's not immediately clear why you want to replace explorer.exe and such... What kind of custom start menu do you have in mind? If you want your shortcuts to appear on the start menu, search for something like "pin to the start menu". Otherwise, provide more details.
