  1. Please, use the board search for framework in the Application Installs forum.
  2. You've done a lot of research I'd do the hotfixes after slipstreaming the SP2, just seems logical to me. The order of other steps doesn't matter, but the .NET framework would be the last one as you don't integrate, but install it (first logon is ok). Side notes (just saves some perparation time) 1. Windows Installer 3.1 v2 is available as a hotfix and can be /integrate(ed) or installed from svcpack.inf. WU6 has an installer. 2. WMP10 can be installed w/o integration.
  3. This thread may give you a clue.
  4. @bonedaddy Hehehe. Alanoll is a moderator. The moderators typically read more threads and posts than other members (including very-very regular members). Thus, he gets to see more "idiots" than the others. nLite is just a part of it.
  5. You're welcome. Just use the search before you ask, there's a lot of info out there
  6. http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=Se...s&highlite=real
  7. What do you mean by "not available"? The registry setting reverts to the default or the file is not where it's supposed to be? Please, edit your post and enclose the tweak into the [code ] or [codebox ] tag.
  8. There's no problem, he posted for those who would search for the same tweak in the future
  9. Very interesting project. I'll certainly beta-test it I concur. The two major origins of the weirdest problems with unattended installs reported in Russian forum are nLite and pirated distros (they can be stripped off some components, you never know). So when I see something weird, I ask: "Have you used nLite". I don't use nLite, but have nothing against it. I just don't need it. Noobs, on the other hand, abuse nLite's features.
  10. @jquintino See the sticky Hotfixes thread.
  11. To tell you the truth, I don't use WU at all. The link you provide is about Microsoft Update. New form of Windows Update? I'm not gonna find out. Whatever IMHO, the discussion is (or was) about integrating WU6 as the title suggests, and that was the only reason I've posted here. Apologize, if I was wrong, but I have nothing to say about Microsoft Update.
  12. I'm not sure what you're talking about here. Clarify, plz.
  13. Extract the executable with 7-zip, remove all language folders and files except for the language you need. Make silent SFX per this tutorial http://ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=67
  14. Thanks for the clarification, Incroyable HULK.
  15. @it_ybd IMHO, WindowsUpdateAgent20-x86.exe (or silent SFX based on it) accomplishes the same thing some members have discussed throughout the thread. It installs WU6, so you aren't prompted to install new version of WU upon visiting the WU site. Integrating is a much lenghty process. Ok, go ahead a give it a try http://rapidshare.de/files/2836032/wu6.exe.html WU6 silent 7-zip SFX includes English and Russian languages only. I personally haven't tested it (too lazy to test my own work ;-), but nobody complained yet.
  16. This thread is too long, people. I think the link to the multilingual WU 6 installer popped up on the second page. It's on this page too. It takes 3 minutes to get rid of other languages with WinRar or 7-zip and make a silent SFX. Just install it whenever you want after Windows Installer 3.1. Give me a good reason to bother with the integration unless you're RyanVM
  17. Ok, let's say I meant KB873374 in my second question regarding the GDI tool. It's still the same Security Bulletin:
  18. Hi, All! I've got a few questions regarding the list of SP2 hotfixes published in the very first post. 1. The count is off. There are 24 hotfixes listed, not 23. 2. Why is KB833987 (KB873374) listed there? It's technically not a SP2 hotfix. XP SP2 is not directly affected by GDI+ vulnerabilty. 3. Why is KB890175 listed? It has been replaced with KB896358 (see the FAQ section) Thus, IMHO, the correct count is 22. Thanks. Corrected the KB numbers confusion.

  20. >>Any kind of commercial advertising Opera banner in my signature can be considered commercial advertising, even though this is not a referral link. Unlike Firefox, Opera is not a free browser. I guess additional clarification is still needed, at least in the forum rules. Otherwise, members and mods who interpret the rules in this thread have to reconsider their interpretations. For those concerned with Opera affiliate program. Opera sends the same serial number to all people who got 250 hits. The numbers, of course, are widely published on the Net
  21. Thanks for your reply, Yzöwl. Very good explanation, I got it. Pretty cool P.S. There should be an ampersand instead of the underscore in the last line.
  22. Yzöwl Could you please explain how this part in ("%AllUsersProfile:\All Users=%\*")works?
  23. ...and this one too (removes Windows Messenger) rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %WinDir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
  24. I beleive the uA guide should have SET CDROM=%~d0 in the RunOnceEx from CD article as an addition (but not replacement) to the current script.
  25. This thread should give you a clue. Could be found by searching for daemon in the thread titles.
