  1. @vpn-user I'll just give the link to the post I made 10 minutes ago http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&sho...ndpost&p=430221 @fanatf1 I thought you knew about cmdlines.txt You can read the russian version of the Registry Tweaks article. You know where to find it =)
  2. Your English is fine, but you didn't really explain what you need It's also not clear why you don't want to use $OEM$ folders. If you absolutely don't want to use them, fine, you can install software from CD. The first two methods from this list will do the job.
  3. I think one needs not a reg tweak, but rather a firewall for controlling the Internet activity of the installed software. The built-in XP firewall won't help in this case, because it can't control the outgoing traffic. If you're looking for something less sophisticated than a firewall, consider adding msn.music.com et al to the hosts file.
  4. @djlax152 Have you tried to run iexplore from the Run box? If you come up with nothing... Then would be the best suggestion, because who knows what else is missing from your system
  5. @Dark Sim 905 To get you started. Google for "The dependency or group failed to start". IMHO, you need to tell a bit more about your ua cd. You haven't even mentioned the OS... Duh!
  6. Mmmm... I thought the sticky topic would help Read more... Not anymore, AFAIK.
  7. I'll elaborate a little You can copy a file from the CD to HDD during the setup with $OEM$ folders (see the guide's Reference - $OEM$ Folders). You can run the file upon logon from GuiRunOnce (see the guide's Reference - winnt.sif reference) or RunOnceEx (intermediate users - methods of install). Other info on importing regtweaks can be found in the sticky thread/guide.
  8. @LouisDePage Check out UnattendSwitch="yes" http://unattended.msfn.org/global/reference.htm#unattended
  9. Check out this thread http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=60806 It should give you a clue.
  10. [setupparams] launches its commands immediately after Setup completes. GuiRunOnce launches its command(s) upon the first logon. The latter is good for installing s/w, the former... well, I just don't use it
  11. Not really. I suggested editing SETUPLDR.BIN and replacing winnt.sif with winnX.sif. This is just the first step. Then you have to work on multiboot. Eventually, you get to BCDW's settings where you specify the path to each SETUPLDx.bin. Something like that \i386\setupld1.bin ;Windows XP Professional Unattended ;Unattend \i386\setupldr.bin ;Windows XP Professional Regular ;Regular All of the above applies only if you go with BCDW. If you need step-by-step directions, study the guide Grake linked to. It doesn't use BCDW, and has some other differences, but is good for those who want to combine different OSs on one medium. If you go with BCDW, I'll try to help you out.
  12. It's actually HKCU\Control Panel\... and to be imported at T-12 from cmdlines.txt. Stick with the tweak, though, because setting regional options from the answer file doesn't always work even with the supported parameters and a workaround needed.
  13. The error message is caused by the absence of the marker files WIN51, WIN51IP, WIN51IP.SP2 in the CD root.
  14. 1.5x does not, but 2.01 does. _http://www.bcdwb.de/downloads/bcdw201a.rar
  15. You just need to modify the default user profile. All users created thereafter will have the new settings http://www.simplify-i-t.com/guides/guide1.htm
  16. Floppies are rarely found in PCs lately. What if you run across a PC w/o floppy? Multiboot is a nice way to accomplish that. You just need to HEX-edit SETUPLDR.BIN and replace winnt.sif with winnX.sif where X is the number of the scenario. Save the file as SETUPLD1.BIN. Repeat the procedure as many times as you want. In short, you'll have SETUPLD1.bin referring to winn1.sif SETUPLD2.bin referring to winn2.sif and so on. Then you need to use a boot manager like BCDW and point each boot option to the corresponding SETUPLx.BIN It's a time consuming method given you need to figure out the boot manager stuff, but works everywhere you can boot from CD.
  17. start /LOW does it w/o any vbscripts. Check out start /?
  18. This is a pretty old trick, but some people still don't know it Just drag and drop the favicon from the address bar to the Desktop (or any other folder opened in Explorer). The shortcut "page name.url" will be created on the Desktop. Favicon is the small icon in the address bar next to http. You may need to resize the browser window first and minimize other windows to show desktop. That's it for the trick
  19. You should be able to, although it may take some time. It would be better to slipstream SP2, and then add another 30 or so pre-SP3 hotfixes That way you don't have to care about the order. All pre-sp3 hotfixes use update.exe that checks for the file versions anyway. Some pre-SP2 hotfixes may have this functionality too, you need to check the version. Links on the subject: Command-line switches for Windows software update packages The Package Installer (Formerly Called Update.exe) for Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and Windows Components Is there any specific reason you don't want SP2?
  20. @glent You can add the link to this guide in first post of the "Registry Tweaks Pt3" thread. It may help a little bit, if people ask how to apply the tweaks in the thread. In addition, one can just reply with the link to this guide instead of sending to search or going thru the basics
  21. @Macromorph Sorry, I don't have any ideas. I've never used this method... Go with net user, it's reliable.
  22. Do your $OEM$ folders work? In other words, do you see your file in %windir%\system32\oobe after the installation? As for the resolution, check out Video Resolution Changer.
  23. @Gerrit.B If you have several localized versions, you can create a multiboot DVD with a boot option for each version. That's the only way to begin the installation in the language of your choice. If you have a MUI, you can use it for installing single or multiple non-English Windows interface languages. See muisetup.hlp for the switches. The easiest way would be to use a post-install utility like WPI, where you could specify several different command (switches) for the same muisetup.exe. I.e. you have English upon the first logon, install MUI (one or several languages), and get the GUI in the language of your choice after reboot. You can have the interface in the desired language at the first logon. The muisetup.exe must be launched from cmdlines.txt. Again, you can install multiple languages, but you have to specify the default one. If you'd like the user to choose which interface language to use as default and and have this language at the first logon, a more sophisticated multiboot scheme is required. I'll omit the details for now, because it's really not worth the trouble.
  24. Interesting. I don't have Stand by on the Start Menu either in Classic or a custom theme (XP Pro). I do have it in the in the Shutdown dialog (Stand by, Shutdown, Restart), though. Lots of similar questions on Google Groups. To summarize: not possible to remove stand by with ACPI HAL
  25. I gather you're programming something that gives you that error. Perhaps, you can get a better assistance in programming forums of this board.
