  3. Hi, What about Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack Service Pack 1 (SP1): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en Simply placing in the updates folder does not cause it to install or at least Microsoft Update and Office update still think it has not been installed. Any thoughts? Thanks, Will
  4. How about hiding the cmd windows that open up: http://www.msfn.org/board/Tool-Hide-consol...ows-t49184.html Or at least an option some how, say a registry setting or something. After all you already have that night progress window so why show ugly cmd windows. Thanks!
  5. Should work fine after importing the above registry tweak... That's how it works.. If not the current user registry keys too to make sure it is not over-riding the local machine settings...
  6. Open regedit and check permissions on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SCardSvr . Not a clue! Thats what I would recommand, but that is not what the OP asked for...
  7. Do you mean you have to manually click shutdown on the logon screen for it to now shutdown?Make sure there is nothing weird in: %systemroot%\System32\GroupPolicy\Machine\Scripts\Shutdown I think this might be your problem: http://www.pctools.com/guides/registry/detail/1170/ See this too: http://www.pctools.com/guides/registry/detail/251/ Check to make sure you do not have this one enabled: http://www.pctools.com/guides/registry/detail/146/
  8. There is no must RTM date at the moment for either. It already got pushed back twice. Though at the moment the official word on Windows Vista SP1 RTM is first quarter of 2008. While Windows XP SP3 RTM is still slatted for the first half of 2008.
  9. IE8 is still in alpha, not happening this year, not even a beta!
  10. Just click start then shutdown and click cancel. Now the start run menu is clean. Simply import:
  11. To delete the service simply run: sc delete SCardSvr WARNING: No going back, so backup first if you change your mind. This completely deletes the service.
  12. Wow a 15min video which is 4GB. Shi* me! Even HD 1080p is not that big!
  13. Might look into using shadow copy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_Copy
  14. Most likely he simply converted Windows Server 2003 to look and behavior like Windows XP. Something like: http://win2k3.msfn.org/ Anyhow, if you want real proof it can't be done read up on MSDN or simply ask Microsoft in the public newsgroups. WARNING: You might get cursed at pretty badly. lol
  15. Bio Shock: 6.11 GBCall of Duty 4: 6.32 GB Enemy Territory - QUAKE Wars: 5.58 GB So 1.77 GB is nothing... Yes I know it's a demo, but still..

  17. Windows XP SP3 Beta and Windows Vista SP1 Beta are both currently being tested by technical beta testers at http://connect.microsoft.com/ as well by TAP (Technology Adoption Program) members; among many others. I'm in both programs and if you want proof both programs are on going just ask Microsoft in the public news groups. That is if your a paranoid freak who does not believe main stream media or sites like neowin.net. Look around would you! Both are set to be released in Q1 2008.
  18. I will update once SP1 is released if someone else does not before me. I'm not going to waste my time to keep the list updated when service pack 1 is already in beta and due out soon.
  19. Yeah I was just being "funny". Yeah sorry missed that though, thanks for the info...
  20. I love that you cant even extract your own 1.6 installer.. lol
  21. I've reported this bug to be fixed for windows xp sp3. Perhaps it will finally be fixed, dont hold your breath..
  22. If you still see 100% with Process Explorer and it still does not show which process is eating CPU then most likely it is a rootkit that is hiding itself. In that case, reformat a few times!!!
