  1. Not to mention he would need multiple cables to talk to multiple people. Cheers and Regards
  2. To my knowledge, no. Cheers and Regards
  3. I don't think anyone has posted this before, but here's a video comparing SiB to Start8. (You can guess which one wins. ) Cheers and Regards
  4. And here's one more: Cheers and Regards
  5. Here are some other great Windows 8 commercials I found - I don't know what the heck they have to do with Windows 8, but I liked the commercials.LOL Cheers and Regards
  6. A folder name with no "space" or "tab" characters in the folder name. Cheers and Regards
  7. I didn't think it was being developed any further, but I thought I had seen that there were people still using it, either in the SiB thread or in BigMuscle's Aero Glass for Win8 thread, I'm not sure which. I would send a PM to Tihiy and ask him and his decision should rule. Without input from him, I'd say that if the DL link still existed and was active, and I just checked and it is, then leave it listed. If Tihiy didn't want it used any more then I assume he would take the link down and post a notice to use SiB instead. Don't get me wrong, I have no idea at all why someone would want to use Win7Ex4Win8 instead of SiB, and I don't think they should, but I'm just saying ... Cheers and Regards
  8. Apparently not just Opera. Chrome doesn't have them either. Might this be a IPB board software issue? Cheers and Regards
  9. I guess in a way then that this is like when some folks think they need to "lite" their OS because it will run faster without all the "extra" stuff that they don't use. With today's systems speed, amount of memory, install memory options, disk size and speed, etc, the typical user is extremely unlikely to see any difference in speed, boot time, or stability, and is more likely to remove something that they will need someday. [Full disclosure -- I don't "lite" my OS, but I do mildly clean my registry (CCleaner). I realize now that it probably doesn't make any measurable difference, but it makes me feel better and I've never had any problems because of it.] Cheers and Regards
  10. I think it is great that HFSLIP is continued to be fixed and enhanced, even if I don't use it much anymore myself. I also believe that it would be best if there really was only one current version, that includes the fixes from both tomasz86 and Acheron and that it is hosted and distributed by Mim0 along with his File-Checker and update lists, for the convenience of the users. This would also eliminate any confusion as to which version of HFSLIP someone is using. While they are experimenting it is appropriate to have separate listings, but it would be better if they could be merged once they are stable. I'm not sure why/if Mim0 has been reluctant to include these fixes until now, but hopefully he will agree to do so. Cheers and Regards
  11. From this I assumed the latter, if I understood what you, and they, meant: Cheers and Regards
  12. Sorry, but since, in my opinion, your condition has about a 0.00000001% chance of existing, I still feel that my comment applies. If anyone can truthfully state that what you have described has happened to them because of a failed BIOS update, which was the situation that PROBLEMCHYLD inquired about, then I will happily amend my statement to saying that I think it only has a 0.000001% chance of existing. I have no problem with what submix8c said. (It would have been helpful if you had provided a link back to the post so that I could have read his complete response in context, it's here by the way.) You have to also look at one of his previous posts to get the full context: The way I understood that was the first one "bricked" due to a failed BIOS update, and the second one got screwed up when he cleared CMOS, that's a very different thing. In the second case, thanks to an idiotic melding of BIOS software and motherboard hardware by Dell, clearing the CMOS disabled his USB keyboard and the motherboard does not have a PS2 socket for him to plug in a PS2 keyboard, so the BIOS and motherboard might still "work", but he has no way to access it, not even to edit the BIOS settings to be able to re-enable the USB keyboard, so it's still a doorstop, but might be fixable with the purchase of additional parts, or your suggestion might work if he has a copy of the BIOS code that has the USB keyboard enabled. I have no problem with submix8c's terminology. Cheers and Regards
  13. Obviously I am very familiar with StartIsBack, but I think I still occasionally see someone mention that they are still using Windows 7 Explorer for Windows 8. But of course, if Tihiy no longer supports the project, and/or it is no longer available for download, and if Tihiy agrees that it should be removed from the list, then that would take priority over any other opinions. Cheers and Regards
  14. @buyerninety, What the heck are you talking about? As a general rule, if the computer becomes "bricked" because of a failed BIOS update, the computer is TOTALLY dead, ie "bricked", like a brick, completely non-functional. Not only will you not have any keyboard access, but no display, no mouse, no floppy, no CD, no hard drive, it will not do post tests, it will not beep, it is totally and completely dead, like a doorstop, boat anchor, etc. It is not a matter of the viability of any of the peripherals like the keyboard, it essentially kills the brains of the motherboard. I suppose that there might be an extremely remote possibility that the BIOS update failure will still leave the computer so that it can boot, which it would need to be able to do in your scenario, and just effect the operation of the keyboard, and maybe mouse and display, but the odds of that being your only damage are so astronomically tiny as to not be worth mentioning. And as jaclaz has kindly asked you, please try to learn how to utilize the various forum functions, such as bold and etc, and paragraph spacing, and maybe not add a carriage return every 80 or 90 characters or so, (if you wish to continue to do the latter, if you will address the other suggestions I'm sure it will help the rest of us read your posts), ie, please try to make your posts easier to read. Thanks for your cooperation. Cheers and Regards
  15. +1 As well. There have still been occasional database errors, but there have definitely been improvements lately. Thanks for the continued work on the situation. Cheers and Regards
  16. Sorry -X-, I'd be happy to check for you but I'm no longer on XP. Win7's versions are different, of course. Cheers and Regards
  17. AFAIK, gora's solution will only log the error code. Your code will then have to read it to find out what it was. Cheers and Regards
  18. If you mean hot-swapping, then yes i guess you could say that is another way, or you could just say that is using the PC in place of the EPROM programmer and using your existing "broken" BIOS chip instead of a new blank one and still requires you having to borrow or obtain another BIOS chip that works in the PC, if I understand the procedure correctly. Cheers and Regards
  19. I have never done this, but in case I do, how do you fix something like this? To my knowledge, unless you are using a "newer" system with a dual, or backup, BIOS for just such an emergency, there is no way to fix this using just the PC itself. You either have to get a replacement BIOS chip from the motherboard or system manufacturer or some other BIOS chip supplier or eBay or something, or you have to borrow one and make a copy, if you have a EPROM programmer and a blank EPROM, assuming your BIOS chip is socketed, which all older ones were. I know of no other way. Cheers and Regards
  20. Sorry, I was responding to JorgeA Cheers and Regards
  21. Upload Image test: (Was this what you meant JorgeA? Seems to work for me. Cheers and Regards
  22. STOP WHINING ABOUT THE DIALOG BOX!!! WHINING ABOUT IT NEARLY KILLED THE PROJECT!!! Sorry for me losing my temper. If you hate the dialog box, stop using the software until the final version. LOL. Couldn't agree more. Cheers and Regards
  23. Annoying messages like these have been happening more and more over the last few months. Very, very annoying. USUALLY, if you just hit your browser back button, then try the exact same link again, it will work. Rarely you might have to try again more than once. Rest assured, AFAIK regardless of what the message says it is probably not any error on your side, but is an error in the IP Board software, and has been reported many, many times. Errors like these are also what are causing folks to create duplicate posts since the post takes even though it give you an error that says it didn't so you post again. It's really a pain. Cheers and Regards
  24. The mediafire link didn't work for me when I just tried it. And besides that, there is a misspelling in the file name: It should be WinSetupFromUSB.exe, and not WinSetupFormUSB.exe. Cheers and Regards
  25. Many congrats indeed my friend! Cheers and Regards
