  1. PC: America's Army Call of Duty Knights of the Old Republic World of Warcraft
  2. What do you want to get them for? PC? Console (if so what kind)?
  3. Error 404 with that link. Should be http://users.rcn.com/taylotr/icon_restore.html Btw, TweakUI has an Icon Cache repair feature.
  4. Yeah, let's wait and see what all the competition does; then release IE 7 and say we've been planning it all along! Riiiight. They can have IE.

  6. Actually converting any file system to another can cause problems. You're better off selecting the file system when you format and install. If you don't and you convert it any other time it's a huge mess.
  7. Correct. Spyware Blaster works great with Firefox. Besides, all it really blocks is cookies and bad sites.
  8. Yes, Suspend and Standby are the same thing. I find Hibernate to really be useless. I leave my pc running all day when I'm home, and if I go out I just save my things (if anything major) and shut down. I'd rather know I have my data and work saved fully, than to risk shutting down and the potential for lost data.
  9. well m8 i get 3 options 1.home/desktop 2.portable/laptop 3.always On which 1 shud i click on?or do i need 2 install the service pack? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can configure them as you wish. Each item will go to system standby as you wish. Mine shows it as follows: Turn off monitor: Turn off hard disks: ---------------------- System Standby: So you would set those values to what best suits your needs. I have my LCD monitor go to standby after 15 minutes, hard disks set to never since I host voicechats as a server, and system standby to never. If your system supports it you can configure it to whatever suits your personal needs.
  10. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I ask that you do not bash mine. Why not tell everyone exactly what all you use Hibernate for on your pc, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if you can do without it and wind up saving yourself a lot of space that is going to waste.
  11. Enter your Control Panel and go to Power Options. It's listed under the Power Schemes tab.
  12. That's what suspend does. Hibernate is very much the same except it allows you to power down your machine. It seriously is a bad joke.
  13. TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH SOLDIER1ST! HIBERNATE IS A VERY USEFUL FEATURE, FAR BETTER THAN SUSPEND AND FAR BETTER THAN SHUTTING DOWN AND TURNING ON PC AFTER THE SHUTDOWN! Unfortunately, Win98se allows hibernation ONLY on ACPI-based laptop/notebook computers and NOT desktop computers. If you want hibernation on an ACPI-based desktop machine, upgrade to WinME or WinXP. There's no way to add the hibernate feature on a desktop PC using Win98 SE. Hibernate shuts down the PC as normal but when you turn on the PC again, it will return to your desktop exactly as you left it. Be aware that there are some apps and devices that can prevent you from entering either StandBy or Hibernate power management modes. You'll have either disable or remove those problem apps or devices in order to use the power management functions. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It truthfully is useless. Even if you're a power user. You're far better off just saving your projects and shutting down normally than wasting space with "hibernate". Hibernation is a hog in many ways. This came from a true expert technician, notice the first thing he says to disable on an XP machine.

    Two Processors?

I have a 3.4GHz P4 with HTT technology. Reporting that is has two processors doesn't mean that it's running two at 3.4, it means it's like running two at 1.7. Besides, hard drives are the biggest bottlenecks in terms of speed so you really won't feel much difference at all.
  15. Get ChromEdit and tweak it then! I've got a whole post in my forums on my site dedicated to the best Firefox tweaks.
  16. Just so you know, Msfn Frontpage had it.
  17. Since the end of December I've been trying to sort problems with a hard drive on a Windows XP Pro pc.
  18. I used ME for four, nearly five years. I never had any problems with it really. Tweaked it and disabled System Restore and PCHealth remover (look for System Restore Remover Pro) and it worked perfectly.
  19. Can you post a screenshot?
  20. I agree, it sounds like you might have a dialer application in your computer. Try and download this. It's an awesome freeware pc maintenance package. Refer to this page for the settings and instructions.
  21. Mozilla Firefox project (formerly Firebird, which was formerly Phoenix) is a redesign of Mozilla's browser component, written using the XUL user interface language and designed to be cross-platform. It includes a popup blocker, tabbed browsing, a smarter search, hassle free downloading, and improved privacy and security. Download Note: This is nightly build. MSFN is not responsible for any damage or lose cased by installing this build. For more information go here Thanks to supernova_00 for pointing this issue out.
  22. Spybot adds immunizations to IE to help protect the browser from potentially harmful items (SearchSquire is a perfect example). After Immunizing, then running MSAS it would catch SearchSquire as a problem. It is not a problem as it was added to a list to protect IE. I found this by after letting MSAS "fix" this problem, then running Spybot's Immunization again, that it would say 1 object not protected (something like that). MSAS is far from perfect and needs a TON of work before I would recommend it. I've discussed this with many other PC techs and they agree with the fact that MSAS has problems and false positives. It's average, but you can use other items that can get the job done without messing with other applications (Example above on how MSAS would remove some protections that Spybot added). I'll wait for MS to improve and fix MSAS, -IF- they do. But for now I do not recommend it. I fully agree Zxian. In fact, on my website the "AllApps" package that I host currently contains the following items: CWShredder 2.13, AdAware SE Personal 1.05, Spybot 1.3, Spybot 1.3.1TX (Features the DSO Exploit fix), CCleaner 1.17.090, and Hijack This 1.99.0. That's all you need.
  23. They also have a lot of false positives. You can't just use one single application. Currently the best to use (as of this post) are CWShredder 2.13, Ad-Aware SE 1.05 Personal, Spybot 1.3.1TX. MS Antispy has far too many problems and false positives.
  24. Try and download this. It's an awesome freeware pc maintenance package. Refer to this page for the settings and instructions. PM me with questions that you might encounter, your Hijack This log or post here.
  25. Best protection package This can be found on my website as well.
