I've tested the switch /Q on the originally downloaded file from microsoft with a virgin XP SP2 through svcpack and it installed just fine. Of course, i did need to deal with system restore. My final solution for an svcpack method was to extract the files from the microsoft download and repack them into a 7z switchless installer using this command in config.txt ... RunProgram="setup_wm.exe /Q:A /R:N /DisallowSystemRestore" The size of the file i downloaded was 22.9meg, after repacking to a 7z installer its 23.1meg - I wont be providing a download of this because i'm using dialup to access the net. shark

I created an installer for Firefox 1.5.0.2 based on a MSI which i created that installs from T-13/12/9. The only differance froma default install is that there are no startmenu shortcuts or desktop shortcut created. It DOES create the shortcut in the quicklaunch for ALL users. A common cause of this is CDroms and DVD's. They take a long time to initialize and read the directories. Try removing any optical media and see if that solves the problem. shark

the 'Application Data' folder is accessible using %APPDATA% just remember that %APPDATA% translates to the logged in user at time of execution. shark

actually, this is a very decent program. Solomon's choice of display,skin,colors etc. is just gross!, and its sad that his screeny turned off so many people to such a good program. To add to this comment, that screeny/comments are not even close to a default installation. A default install is quite similar to openning Windows Explorer but with many enhancements. shark

along with copying the files within the updfiles folder, also copy nod32.000 and nod32.003 in the main folder and on next reboot it will display the proper date for virus signature database version and Date of the files you applied manually. The build # doesnt get updated until you do an online update. shark

The main focus of MSFN (correct me if i'm wrong) is unattended windows installations. A switchless installer is very useful for these types of installations because no user interaction is required.shark

The bak files are the originals. copying them over wont get you a patched copy.You can easily use the original installer and after its installed overwrite installed files with patched files. I assume the original will allow /qn etc. i have not tested this though. The only reason i can see this scenario failing is that Messenger is loaded and you cant overwite loaded files. Ok.. i'm never minding.shark
