  1. This is most likely what the problem was. Windows install was finding the original file and using it instead of your file.shark
  2. This TOPIC may put you onto the correct path to your solution. shark
  3. could you post the contents of svcpack.inf please? I think there is a problem with the layout of the file. shark
  4. I can only assume you've tried my MSI release of the Advanced Filter and Codec Pack. The company that employs you seems big enough to need one more employee in its IT department and i am unemployed at this time. Why dont you PM me some details while you test my MSI on a few pc's. It was just updated 2 days ago and is found the top of my repository listing ...shark
  5. ok, i'll try. resource hog is probabably not the correct term.. I do an extreme amount of file move / copy / delete operations, and this type of activity seemed slow. once i killed the symantec real time proccesses , this again went smoothly. since i switched to NOD32, i dont expererience these slowdowns which to me, were very annoying. I wont go back to symantec simply because i am quite pleased with NOD32's performance and ability, which, in my opinion, matches symantecs.shark
  6. Exactly what is better about using cmdlines.txt? what are these 'better results'?cmdlines.txt executes @ T-13 and .0005 nano seconds later, svcpack executes. There is absolutely no difference whatsoever, just a different method, but both are equally effective and the results, identical. To the innitial poster .. There is no way to know whether or not a program installation is svcpack compatable until you actual perform test installations and scrutinize the resulting installation to determine if it went as expected. If i state an installation is svcpack compatable you can be assured i tested that installation from svcpack and checked to the best of my ability that the installation went as expected, right down to also uninstalling the installation. shark
  7. I think you're asking for a wallpaper upon 1st boot, which is when runounceex executes. T-12 is when svcpack executes. I dont have a solution either way, was just helping you define your situation. If you click EDIT in the lower right, you can change your TOPIC for this post to read from t-12 to '1st boot'. Changing the topic to read '1st boot' may help get the response you seekshark
  8. Yep, i also dumped this program for this same reason.shark
  9. 1st of all, my instruction applied to a Corporate version, you are using CE. 2nd, the /passive switch requires windows installer 3.0 or greater. If the passive switch isnt accepted by whatever version of windows you are using, try /qb as a replacement. 3rd, I stopped using Symantec because, in my experience, it was a resource hog i could do without. I've personally switched to NOD32 for my antivirus needs. shark
  10. This program HIDES the blackbox cmd window so the user SEES nothing. The installs.cmd file is being run but is hidden. I thought his was what you were asking for. shark
  11. try this one... with the msp in the same folder as the msi, get a command prompt in that folder and type: msiexec /update fullnamehere.msp [EDIT] I just realized that command only updates the current installation, not the installation files, sorry. shark
  12. I believe this is from the maker of msistub.exe, i really dont know. I do know, it works great. I've used it for about a year already. usage: hidcon.exe yourcommandfile.cmd Get it here shark
  13. *discontinued* In lieu of a working silent switch i have discontinued creating this AutoIt installer. Use this command to install in an unattended installation. SPTDinst-v142-x86.exe add /q shark
  14. tyvm for the mirrors. This has been an issue for me ever since i became a member @ msfn, and even more so lately since I’ve moved to the country and only have dialup access. As a side note, this won't be a problem with my releases in the foreseeable future because all my releases will be hosted on webspace and bandwidth graciously provided by another msfn member, RogueSpear. His generosity is prevalent with his own switchless installers and addon releases, and now he has extended his assistance my way. Thanks dude, shark
  15. The information on that page also applies to MSN8.On another note, are you using windows 2000 ? The following is a quote from microsoft shark
  16. All of the information on this page is implemented into the modified tables i uploaded.shark
  17. If you're up for it, here is a possible solution. Find and download ORCA, its an MSI editor released by microsoft. I've attached a small 7zip archive containg 3 tables. Use ORCA to import these tables into an original MsnMsgs.msi now attempt an install using only the /qb switch. shark
  18. I use dialup and it would take near an hour for me to upload it elsewhere. Possibly another MSFN user would kindly post it elsewhere for those not able to access rapishare.shark
  19. Updated to version 2.64 shark
  20. Paint.NET - Updated to version 2.72 There are 2 versions available to you. The 1st version uses the MSI produced by the installer. Before installing this package .NETFramework2 must be previously installed or the installation will fail. A shortcut will be placed in Accessories. This installation is NOT svcpack compatible. The 2nd version is a simple self extracting archive I produced for svcpack compatible installations. Please note, Framework 2 needs to be installed to be able to run the program. A shortcut will be placed in Accessories. Get it here shark
  21. You're absolutely correct, thanks for the input shark

  23. I have no idea if what i am about to suggest will work, but it is worth a try for non english users. 1st of all, the files MUST have the same filename as the files already in my installer. Next, replace ALL the files in the installer with your localized versions. Repack it, and try it.shark
  24. This will do it ... [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\uTorrent\shell\open\command] @="\"C:\\Program Files\\uTorrent\\utorrent.exe\" \"%1\""of course, modify the path to your needs. shark
