Inno setup files are easily extracted using the universal extractor. You can then modify the install script (its almost in plain english) and then repackage it using the free inno program. If you can't accomplish this on your own, I'd be willing to do it for you if you provided a download URL. shark -

The AcroRead.msi found in the TARGETDIR is the installation file. It contains the 'logic' and registry entries that perform the installation. The original setup.exe simply calls the AcroRead.msi to perform the install. In my distribution, I use msistub.exe to call the *.msi shark

Because i figure those that have already acquired the knowhow to use 7zip to create installers will do so. This way i eliminate dealing with 5+ PM's/day asking howto questions that I don't have time for and that a little research on their part will solve the issues without me holding their hands. On a further note - CHECK MD5's - the distributed files were updated solving installtion issues with the 8.1 beta and deployment issues with 8.0 final. shark
-
OK, I was persuaded to change my mind. 8.0 final has also been updated to use the original msi to perform the installation. shark

Thanks for the information. I did not test the scenario. I prefer 7zip myself. I only changed to WinRAR for this distribution to make it easier for people to modify. 7zip will make the installer a whole MB smaller too. There just isnt enough hours in a day for me to accomplish everything i wish to do. I needed Live Messenger to be deployed through GPO and the original MSI was failing. Along with fixing this deployment issue I also was able to produce an AIP. Enough rambling, I'll drop its designation to runoncex untill i have time to test it further. shark

No, I was not going to update the 8.0 release mainly because i dont have the original installer handy. Its my opinion that 8.1 will be final very soon. Now that I have aquired the knowledge to use the original MSI, when 8.1 does go final, I'll apply this knowledge and produce a trouble-free installer. shark

Thanks., hope your holidays were good to you also. darn, 2 days huh... I used msiexec /a AcroRead.msi TARGETDIR=D:\temp /qb to get the admin setup files. Note; D:\temp must pre exist. shared... sorry i was slow to respond, the nudge woke me shark

I've completely revised the installation package for the 8.1 BETA release. The previous installer had several problems/issues such as the sharing folder not working etc. I have overcome ALL issues related to this package. This MSI now works with GPO, AD, and SMS installations. It is distributed without any modified files. The new installer uses the original MSI. The package is still editable allowing you to add your localized and modified files. This installer fails from svcpack for some users. Please use an installation method of your choice after 1st boot. You can grab it from my repository. shark

[sarcasm] NO , i never update my releases. I believe in screw the user, its how i get my chuckles.[/sarcasm] darn sarcasm tags dont work. On a more serious note, updating my releases is 1/2 the fun, sharing my releases is the other 1/2 Feel free to post a notice when anything i release is updated by the authors. (except for codecs) I'm a busy person and am not always aware of the real world. EDIT After some research it seems v8.0 is NOT affected. shark

I was using Vista when i made that statement. The language listing is an option in Vista. I have since switched to XP, and it doesnt exist here Often times, being a developer and trying to support different operating systems can cause headaches. Add to that I also often try to support several languages while i'm at it. Welcome to my world... I'm not complaining though, i welcome the challenge, and love what i do. shark

If you want the java plugins installed for these types of web browsers you will need to check the appropriate items. Note that Mozilla family covers many alternate browsers. A few examples are of course FireFox followed by Opera, Thunderbird, Netscape etc. My release installs both types checked by default. The browsers do not need to be installed. The plugins are installed into the Java directory and through use of registry keys, are made available to the browsers once they are installed. shark

To display a language column right click the header area where Name, Size, Type, Date are displayed and if you dont see language in the list, at the bottom, click more.. place a check next to language. shark
