Nope Babis is right. MSN just acts like its connected and then when you try to use it it says its disconnected.......mine has never reconnected on its own. I have to manual click reconnect. -XPerties

Is XP firewall turned off? XP firewall blocks you from sending and recieving files even through MSN Messanger, haha, go figure. -Xperties

Ok this really isnt a help question more like a suggestion so I thought putting it here would give it more attention because Im now down to the min on what road to take.... Heres the thing: I now have my 80gig HD and tomorrow Im setting and moving everything to get my server going. Now this will be 24/7 server. My issue is I dont want to mess with linux and spend the time with it and learn, i need something that I can get around in so im down to a few choices or anything else you guys might recommend.....Now these are the base systems im thinking about but will also be running bulletproof as the main server app again unless you offer some other ways to go.... 98, 2000, XP, nt4 What do you think?????????? -Xperties

Beg to differ but the Turtle beach cards are the same if not cheaper that sound blaster. I got mine for 90 bucks and right now there price is around $70. Not to mention the creative have had promblem after promblem with XP. I threw my creative to a friend and bought Turtle beach and Im so happy i did, The sound is just down right awesome. -XPerties

Telephone lines only use 2 wires...normally the green and red wire, VS the DSL is using at least a dozen wires.Thats why when you have DSL installed in your home they put a new jack in which is used primarly for the DSL line -Xperties BTW....Those new dial up modems are still full of s***...normal telephone wires will not reach the full potential.....the lins just cant handle it

We have assisted them with the boot.ini file and no matter what we have done (including myself at home) have nevere gotten it back to dual booting. The final verdoct has always been refoprmatting install the OS and XP last. Dont know why but it alwasy turns out that way. -Xperties P.S. You said you wanted to use that for storage, any reason why you have to keep another OS on it? I was a king at triple if not 4 dual booting systems, final just running one and have all the storage space on the other drives.

Just a little info.....You will never logg in truly above 56k. Phone lines dont permit it. That number you have seen in the past might have given you false info. Do you personaly see a difference in speed while online compared to before? -Xperties

Get the sledgehammer....Sorry even your post confused me. I remeber us talking before but it seems to me with all the install and uninstall of roxio and nero and swapping drives you just may have alot of issues. -XPerties

You might go to www.dslreports.com and check there forums out and look around. They might be able to give you info on your internet provider and tricks to making it work, if they even have any issues with XP. Just to make you feel at eas, XP has been by far the easiest upgrade I have ever done since DOS to 3.1. Good luck and let me know if you need anything else....BTW....Welcome aboard -XPerties

Well let me try to explain this the best I can so you can understand it... When you do a clean install during the XP install what it does is put your main startup install files on c: then allows you to choose the drive you want to install, then it formats that drive. The promblem is if you are only running one OS then it will format the install files which are on c: thus making the install very complicated and impossible. Its more for if you choose to dual boot with 2 OS. Now the best thing to do is make sure in your bios you have it set up to boot from your cd-rom first. The with a 98 startup disk boot your computer to the dos prompt. Format drive c: and then reboot with the XP disk in the cd-rom. It will start the install promptly. I hope that gives you a better understanding between the 2. -XPerties BTW...There really the same thing, both are clean installes...its just how you do it.

We tend to keep him safe and keep the board going. Kinda makes you wounder why so many boards have come and go in the past few months, because we have rules that may seem stricked but its all for a reason in the end. Yep, Ordered one today. I got sick of this motherboard, besides it doesnt support the XP CPU.Its a outdated verson of the MB so I figure Ill get me that sweet a** dragon Plus. $150 delevered -XPerties

Well I figured it out. I think the promblem could have been a few things but I cleared the CMOS out and put it together out of the case. Im not sure if the case was not grounding it right on the rear of the MB, So i changed the spacers with new ones. I got it working and had a crappy 5 gig drive i through in and loaded 98 on it. Seems to be ok, only thing now the f***ing floppy stop working. This bios is to got dam complicated. f***ing Raid board blow a** as far as Im concerned. Ill probaly just end up buying a new board considering this board doesnt support the XP chipset, I may want to upgrade it later. Besides seems the T-bird is alot faster than my Pent III 1ghz in my personal computer. I might get really wild and swap everything around. Anyways andone looking for a raid board? lol -XPerties
