  1. Sorry, but XPlode was not intended for people who have no knowledge on how to run things during Windows Setup. Once you've become proficient in using CMDLINES.TXT, SVCPACK.INF, UserExecute and/or RunOnceEx, then I'd suggest checking XPlode out. If you don't try them, at least do some reading first. And the documentation provided with X4 describes simple methods to hook it into the above methods.
  2. Jeez... nobody can take a joke...
  3. You go girl! PRECISELY why I made the EULA the way it is.
  4. I know there are going to be a whole horde of problems associated with X5. I have a few ideas how I'm going to alleviate it, but a lot of it is up in the air at the moment. I've had ideas for X5 bouncing around in my head for a while, and while I think I've come up with a final solution, I'm not entirely sure how long it'll take to implement, nor where I'll find the time.
  5. Closed. You may delete XPlode.

    A Suggestion

Not to mention that it's all wrong, and still back in the archaic XPlode 1 syntax Aren't the "snippets" in the docs.pdf enough?
  7. I replied to your email 3 days ago.
  8. XML syntax will likely be identical - there may be a few additions, but that's still to be decided. As for a date... none yet - possibly late May. I have a horde of assignments due in the near future, and I finally realised (i'm in my 4th year) that it's easier to get them done earlier than the day before
  9. Yep Well, with a trailing quote " Keep in mind that this may only be used after first reboot.
  10. Downloads are available to businesses or academic institutions only. You're either going to have to go with a corporate license, or wait for XPlode5.
  11. Add the attribute token="username" to the <execute> tag. It'll work in anything under an <item> tag, so <fileio-rmdir token="blah" ... > <execute token="blah" ... > <registry token="blah" ... > <netstart token="blah" ... > Will all run under the user "blah"s context.
  12. Unfortunately, a lot of people in this world don't have common sense.
  13. I meant that after you'd used CMDLINES.TXT or RunOnce or whatever, you'd know how to launch XPlode and get it running. Not how to run stuff from XPlode in the first place - that's what the examples and the PDF are for.
  14. Get a program to record exactly what you're doing as a movie. Until you can prove to me that it does not work, I'm going to assume that you don't know how to activate it.
  15. It wasn't specifically supposed to be a manual, just a reference for what people needed to look up. Getting it to work is described better in the unattended guide, and I've always said that people should be looking at that and knowing how the methods described there work before even attempting to try XPlode.

Had a quick look, embedding Gecko (Firefox/Mozilla's rendering engine) requires 2-13MB of compiled code + runtime DLL's. Precisely NOT what I want. Sorry, but you're going to have to stick with the IE engine. I may release a plugin SDK with X5, and you'll be able to try to add it yourself, but at the moment with my time constraints, Gecko's out of the question.

If you can find out the numbers regarding filesizes of the rendering engine, you'll find out exactly why I chose not to use mozilla. Last I heard it adds nearly 2MB to the filesize of a compiled executable - this may have changed, as last time I looked at it was about 18 months ago, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's larger than that.
  18. Yeah well, I was kinda in a hurry to get out the door
  19. It's not possible at the moment, but I am contemplating adding a <group> tag for such a thing in the future. When I can work on XPlode again is still up in the air - busy gathering data for a project I'm working on at university. Won't be at a dev computer for at least another few days.
  20. This had been mentioned earlier - fixed in 4.2, don't know when I'll get the time to release it.
  21. Use the GFX plugin.

    Shortcut help

There's an <arguments> tag for <fileio-shortcut>, check the docs for the syntax, but I'm sure you'll be able to extrapolate what the correct syntax is :-) As for the icon, that functionality isn't built in - post it on the bugtracker as a request and I'll see what I can do.
  23. Yes yes. You've seen a PDF of the assignment. You know how annoying it is. What Alanoll says is correct. There's going to be an XML creator with X5. I had hoped to get some prerelease work done on it already, but university has put it off for a while. I hope to get something simple out the door in 3-4 weeks, so we'll see how things go.
