  1. Bump. Can anybody give me some advice or help with this?
  2. The FBI warning you have to sit through everytime you pop in a DVD already makes you feel like a criminal for buying it into the first place. I think they're trying to one-up themselves and make the content even less worth purchasing.
  3. I agree with everything you just said. Except about you mentioning the game consoles. What could they be able to track from a game console anyway? What you should be most worried about with the game consoles and online play is the advertising the publishers are agreeing to infuse into the games. Every time you go online, the console downloads new trash from the Advertising server.
  4. I'm lookng to replace the picture viewer with something a little more beefed up. I found futurix imager: http://www.fximage.com/ (the site is getting retooled now) But is there any way to show thumbnails in explorer if I replace the default XP image viewer? Maybe with some registry tweaking, supplementary programs... I want a method to 'integrate' the viewer into explorer. It doesn't have to be futurix, any other will do. It has to be fast and able to show a bunch of formats (including PSDs and vector formats). Any tips would be appreciated. What should I bee looking for? I found something that can generate thumbnails for PDFs: http://www.filedudes.com/PDF_Thumbnail_Gen...shot-22141.html This is the kind of work-around I can use.
  5. Have you looked into BartPE?
  6. Another PDF printer. doPDF: http://www.dopdf.com/index.php Freeware again.
  7. That is a good idea. However it is not legal like shark mentioned. Instead why don't you post the link to the software/method to strip down Photoshop for those of us who have it.
  8. What about a shuttle-pc (not the brand, the size)? Then add some kind of dedicated software/OS like XBMC?
  9. I'd stick with the integrated. Its cheap and there is no point in putting a dedicated graphics card on a laptop. If you want to game, you can build a sweet gamig pc cheap.
  10. Isn't the Xbox capable of 1080i with XBMC?
  11. That's true. But lately ATi has not been competitive with nVidia at all. Who knows what will happen next. Maybe nVidia slacked off, maybe not. In either case its smart to wait at least until 3rd party testing begins to get a good idea of what is going down.
  12. So basically the restore part f the disk-imager in Nero? (if it has one)
  13. That's nice. But its not really independent. You need to install 10s of megabytes of codecs to make it run. I can add dBpoweramp to that list then also. This one I have used. Its very nice. PowerToy Calculator from the MS website does these conversions too (along with the other functions).
  14. I found a 'DOS' style app inside the main system files. What does it to? Here is a screen: It's 16-bit based and it cannot access the hard disk while XP is running. It tells me after I select language.
  15. If DirectX 9.0c is supported and stable in Linux then I might be ditching Windows completely on my main desktop. It's worth looking into. Here is info on 9.0c through Wine. http://wine-review.blogspot.com/2007/11/di...-with-wine.html I'm not sure about Cedega though. That's worth looking into also.
  16. Maybe Zone Alarm is throwing a fit. Try an update first. Or use something else. Have you tried WinPooch? Its Open Source.
  17. Winpooch works with XP SP3? I've been having issues. Says this version of windows is not supported. XP Pro SP3 v3264
  18. Sure it is. I'll believe it when I see it.
  19. So exactly what does this application do? It would be nice to have a little snippet of info in the OPs post. Maybe a screenshot too if appropriate.
  20. There was something like this called GMail Drive already.
  21. MOLT
  22. True. But the 8800GTS (G92 core) will have dropped in price by then.
  23. Try this: NTregopt - compact your windows registry. Under 0.5MB http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/ And its freeware. Not shareware like RegCompact Pro. (I could not find the RegCompact.NET through your link, maybe it was discontinued)
  24. Yeah, the only way I'm using Vista is if its gutted and hacked as much as possible. Its terrible... but it looks pretty. Also, aren't there others working on this? How would the guys supporting the Wine project do this? They have DX9 working in Linux.
  25. No updates for months, the DX10 wiki never worked, and now the main website is gone under: http://www.fallingleafsystems.com/ Try it. Doesn't work. A disappointment and a half.
