  2. It seems so. I've never had a scenario like this before. But one thing is clear. Panda must have used the proxy connection. No chance without it.

  3. when you were running the proxy system-wide in the background. Right? On both of my Windows XP partitions, Panda Dome was definitively not able to activate the account without ProxHTTPSProxy. Neither for version 21.01.00, 20.02.01 nor 18.07.04.

  6. Glad you like Supermium, I've been using it for ages now on XP, and it's become my standard browser even on Windows 10. To answer your questions - 1. Unfortunately, Supermium has no internal mechanism to set itself as the default browser on XP. It can be done with a lot of tedious registry editing, or by using a utility like PortableRegistrator. https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/portable_registrator.html 2. This one is easy! Just type chrome://flags/#custom-ntp into the address bar, enable it, and fill in the URL that you want your new tabs to display. Restart the browser and there you are! 3. All I can suggest for that is to try different themes. Hopefully one of them will make things more readable for you. I'm sure that almost everything can probably be customised if you know how, but I don't have that level of knowledge of Chromium customisation I'm afraid. Cheers, Dave.

  7. But Firefox and all the forks (to this date) are one of the most notorious trackers, and they are nowhere near Ungoogled. So it just confirms my worries.

  9. Maybe DeLeaker could be useful ?. DeLeaker 2025.16 (Profiler for C++, C#, .NET and Delphi) C++ memory leak detection Deleaker is an extension for all major IDEs and a standalone application for memory leak detection - memory, GDI, and handles so far. Even the most stable of Windows applications are not immune to resource leaks. And of all the bugs and issues, memory leak detection tends to be the most difficult, especially when found in GDI objects and menus. And the golden rule of thumb is that the sooner bugs are found and dealt with, the less expensive they prove to be. While there's no shortage of tools and add-ons to help track down memory leaks, few are capable of tracking GDI resource leaks that can devastate Windows performance. Deleaker is one of the few tools capable of this, and will have a minimal impact on your application's performance. Deleaker is a memory leak detector that integrates with all major IDEs: Visual Studio, Delphi, C++ Builder, and Qt Creator.

  10. Agreed. The earlier versions of Panda seem to use INTERNET EXPLORER's proxy settings (which you proxified when setting the proxy to run "system-wide").

  12. You must have misunderstood something. Panda only needs ProxHTTPSProxy to activate the Panda account. After that, the proxy settings in Panda can be deleted and the proxy closed.

  13. Here is a quotation from my main article: And I should add that it is very important to delete all dummy cerificates in the Certs folder when the cacert.pem file has been updated. And you won't lose anything. The dummy certificates will be generated the next time when connecting to servers. BTW, you are using the proxy system-wide. That was what I asked you in an earlier post. I personally do not.

  14. I can't get it to ACTIVATE on 100% Native XP+POS. The ACTIVATION may be where HTTPSProxy becomes a must.

  15. @Dave-H Do you regularly maintain your proxy? For ProxHTTPSProxy to function properly, it must be maintained. From time to time, the Certs folder must be emptied, and the cacert.pem file must be updated. Only then will it function properly and can connect to the Panda servers. Then you will finally see the connections established to their servers.

  16. I can't confirm this statement. When I installed Panda Dome 21.01.00, I was only able to activate the Panda account with the help of ProxHTTPSProxy, using the necessary proxy settings in Panda. Connections to Panda's servers were immediately visible in the proxy console.

  17. As a general rule of thumb, I historically REFUSE to download "trusted" content from http, especially "security" software! The version.ini does report v23. I will install into an XP *VM* later this morning. Several extracted-retain-timestamp files are dated from only FIVE DAYS ago.

  19. I found my complete FineSSE project from 2011 including a well-tested but unreleased version 30. It includes support for CC/Breakpoint and can be extended for other continuable exceptions. I also began a version 31 in 2013 that starts to add a process picker for easier attachment to any running process. For now, I'll create a version 32 from v30 that also handles exception 0x406D1388 (Name thread). I don't plan to support locales other than the system (maybe user) default at the app-level by either name or ID. There are name constants: LOCALE_NAME_INVARIANT LOCALE_NAME_SYSTEM_DEFAULT LOCALE_NAME_USER_DEFAULT and ID constants: LOCALE_INVARIANT LOCALE_SYSTEM_DEFAULT LOCALE_USER_DEFAULT that I can use to fake/minimally implement the locale API's. (See LOCALE_INVARIANT.) KernelEx already has LCMapStringW, GetLocaleInfoW, and CompareStringW so I'll see how those are handled. The InitOnce functions need more study, but can be redirected to ReactOS for now. My WinME system is SSE-only. Which browser should I try testing with?

  20. QUIC via UDP works as a direct connection, including bypassing VPN. Those IPs Chrome pings at the start is only what you see, and only the tip of the iceberg. Most firewalls (to this date) don't know how to deal with QUIC's UDP connections, QUIC was meant and developed to pass through firewalls unnoticed. There is a topic regarding those sneaky connections. https://msfn.org/board/topic/186094-google-quic-is-vulnerable-to-cyber-criminal-activity-creates-a-‘black-hole’-that-hackers-can-exploit/

  21. Oh, just found this! It's indeed Google tracking. Someone even asked ChatGPT. "The sca_esv parameter is a piece of data in the URL that's likely internal to Google's system for tracking, sorting, or customizing search results. URL parameters like these are often used for various purposes including analytics, session identification, and to tweak the behaviour of the search. " "Asking ChatGPT to brainstorm what sca and esv could stand for in the context of a Google search:" https://webapps.stackexchange.com/questions/172215/google-videos-search-sca-esv-query-parameter-possible-tracking
