I believe in those numbers, as I already stated, I don't trust someone will perform the fake scheme you just described. People have things in life, apart from the forum, you know! Besides, it's easy to check, as I already stated, too! So what? It's my business in what to believe. But at this point, it's too obvious you're very annoyed with someone else's fame. I also think there was a hidden reason to disable topic views. As already stated by @Monroe. Otherwise they would've gotten them back by this time already.3 points

It's a way to say thank you! Or you prefer paypal? @NotHereToPlayGames, I've examined your profile for the last two years. After D.Draker disappeared. you barely posted for a year, and I understand you, we all were, still are, and will be in a depression. But the year before that, also rather weak posting, not to count the endless off-topic posts filled with displeasure and disgust about other members' popularity, what's the explanation for that? A friendly advice, jealousy isn't a good thing, start making contributions to MSFN, you will get the feedback! As of now. you will still have zero views on your topics, even if they fix the counter. Take a look, while I was on holidays, D.Draker got another thousand of views, all despite being absent! Take example.2 points

I don't have Windows ME on bare metal right now to test this. However, on Windows ME running in Virtual PC, the behavior of "SCANDSKW" is similar, and the effect is quite good: This provides a clear demonstration of the change in write speed during disk surface scanning, where: "1" - when the SCANDSKW window is in the background; "2" - when the SCANDSKW window is active; "3" - when intensive mouse movements occur above the active SCANDSKW window.1 point

Here is version Alpha-013 which rearranges a lot of the codec init code and tries to init all the Line Outs no matter what. https://github.com/andrew-hoffman/WDMHDA/releases/tag/Alpha-013 My SFF with an ALC887 codec now produces some sound but it is garbled; small segments will keep looping until I do something that causes hard drive activity and then it will play a bit more into the buffer. It's possible that the interrupt is not firing or is being suppressed. The problematic system has most devices sharing IRQ 11.1 point

Rigged? It's not election. Explain how it's "rigged" and why all those thousands of people create those views! Just for the sake of what? Especially if we assume D.Draker could care less, he's not currently present. And I agree with Monroe.1 point

Just for reading ... not much of a chrome person. https://www.foxnews.com/tech/malicious-chrome-extensions-caught-stealing-sensitive-data Malicious Chrome extensions caught stealing sensitive data Kurt Knutsson, CyberGuy Report / January 5, 2026 Chrome extensions are supposed to make your browser more useful, but they've quietly become one of the easiest ways for attackers to spy on what you do online. Security researchers recently uncovered two Chrome extensions that have been doing exactly that for years. These extensions looked like harmless proxy tools, but behind the scenes, they were hijacking traffic and stealing sensitive data from users who trusted them. What makes this case worse is where these extensions were found. Both were listed on Chrome's official extension marketplace. ... just adding, the comments at the bottom of the article page are many and interesting. They number around 393 at this time. They take a little time to load, that's why I did not see them when I first posted the article. ...1 point

It's my own personal opinion that it was done intentionally so D.Draker's name and maybe a few others, would drop off the 'Popular Contributors' list in time ... which finally happened in the last three weeks, or so. I actually miss his name no longer on the list ... it was interesting watching his 'contributor count' go up and down. I hope I am wrong about the 'topic views' ... but since October nothing, lots of '0s' starting to show up. ...1 point

Once again, you're completely wrong. Your cited "free speech" has not existed among you for quite some time.1 point

That's how you act. My posts are always factual and problem-oriented, as befits a scientist. Being on topic is very important to me. But when I see what's going on in your country, nothing surprises me anymore.1 point

@NotHereToPlayGames Once again. This topic is about the counting of topic views. Nothing more, nothing less. Stop your off-topic babbling! I am interested here to know what is going on with the number of views counted by the forum software. Your silly and childish behaviour is rather annoying and, what's more, simply embarrassing.1 point

Yes. All builds of ytdlp-silent-xp.exe have been tested by me on my Windows XP computer. Unfortunately, none of them are working, not even the latest.1 point

For anyone who isn't familiar with LUA scripts. My mod of the LUA script yt-dlp4vlc does the following: YouTube links entered in VLC are now processed by the YouTube downloader yt-dlp and are then transferred to VLC and played back. Credits to FalloNero. The console window is hidden either by a PowerShell command or by the tool hidecon if the latter exists in VLC's programme folder. Video links without appended quality parameter can now be played again with the quality preset by the user in the VLC settings. The default video codec has been preset by me to h264 so that even older hardware is supported. This can of course be changed in the script by the users according to their needs.1 point

OK, I did try that firewall in August or September when the Zone Alarm problems started. I had it saved from your article 'Antimalware, firewall, and other security programs for Windows XP' based on your review. I also had some other older firewall programs saved, Comodo and such. I had trouble trying to figure out Sphinx Windows 10 Firewall to get it working correctly. Probably didn't work with it enough. If I can't get the ZA working again I will install it again and check it out more. Thanks to Multibooter I want to try Kerio Personal Firewall v2.1.5 again. I had completely forgotten about Kerio FW and did not have it on my flash drive collection of firewall programs. I sort of remember it was easy to work with. ...1 point

Fileinfo is a lister plugin for the file manager Total Commander. If interested, you should install version 2.2.3 since the more recent version 2.2.4 doesn't install under Windows XP.1 point

There are now (at the end of 2025) very, very few anti-malware programmes for Windows XP with real-time protection free of charge. Panda Free Antivirus is an absolute exception. It is still maintained and runs under Windows XP. Here are two screenshots of the current version 22.03.05, which has just been released: An anti-malware programme with a most recent scan engine and up-to-date virus definitions even under very old OSes like Windows XP or Windows Vista. What more could be wanted? Here is the link to my updated article: Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

I do not use YouTube-DL Gui 0.4 anymore. ytBATCH for Windows XP is much better. But I will have a look at it when I am back at my desktop computer.1 point

First of all, thanks for your feedback! System Error 3, also known as "The system cannot find the path specified," usually means the program can't locate the file or directory it's trying to access. Getting this error means you did unfortunately something wrong. Did you read my instructions carefully? After unpacking the archive file, you have to call first the ytBATCH.bat file located in the main programme folder. Then, you are asked to either setup ytBATCH for Windows XP to your programme folder of your system or to the location where you have unpacked the archive. All further processing is done by the script. Read this here: For a deeper, more technical explanation, read the post Setting up ytBATCH for Windows XP. And the scan result of the Window.exe file is as always a false positive. This file is used by me for sizing and positioning CMD windows and totally harmless. Long story short, delete your unpacked folder completely and do all once again! After unpacking again, solely and exclusively call up the file ytBATCH.bat file located in the main programme directory. And use ytBATCH for Windows XP 1.6! It is better than version 1.5 since it is more up to date.1 point

@Tonny52 is absolutely right , nothing can be done , except returning that nasty thing back to the store. And for those who gives examples "with 8.1 preinstalled" , jusk think how old that laptop is . It's totally irrelevant . I can confirm , my friend bought Dell (not with Windows 8.1 in 2013) , but recently , and the ugly "feature" is there , had to return it.1 point

I totally understand , the advice was based on "Disappointing from a financial point of view". I'm not saying I'm an ancient guru with hundreds of years of experience , but I worked with lots of computers parts since 90's , even though I do not like asian manufactured stuff in general , Samsung is one ot the best these days , honestly . Why ? Too few to choose from . We do not have European manufactured stuff anymore . In the end , they all place orders at OEM plants and then just label the parts. Of course , you may try your luck with Corsair again .1 point

Excuse me dear ArcticFoxie , I shall say in advance : I'm not trying to mock you or anything like that , but what problems with the beautiful English language are you talking about ? Perhaps you need to change your system locale from russian (lol) . Sorry , couldn't stand the temptation to joke about your system language . I really do hope you are not a hidden russian , though . I will take some time and describe what I've done to check. 1st - my system's locale is EN-GB . Not French , lol (this joke is for British/Americans only , others may not understand , sorry in advance , love to French folks). 2nd - downloaded your favourite version from your link . 3rd - Unpacked Portable from CMD (it inpacked the portable version with everything in English). P.S. Yes , gurgle is still with "ru" , but it can be fixed with hexing. I changed it to gurgle.ca ( why ? It somewhat reminds me of @win32 and his marvellous work , weird ? Maybe , don't care.) ..... or maybe I was just laizy to extend the length because gurgle.co.uk or "com" will not fit , obviously . My advice - change your system locale to proper British English (and reboot , but you know this already) before unpacking. Also , I do use a LOT of flags , like "disable translate" and I do not see any russian language at all. And , of couse , I deleted "error" and "new tab" .zip.1 point

Great Britain (that's what they taught us to call it during my school days) is a good country , indeed , let's hope it stays that way during these dark times . Though electronics is somewhat more expensive. Glad to be of help. BTW , these still can be overclocked in the BIOS , I even suggest to buy DDR3 1333 CL9 or DDR3 1066 CL7 and then change the settings in the bios , no need to add any additional voltage , just play with the settings . For example DDR3 1333 CL9 can work at 1600MHZ , but you shall need to up the timings , change to CL10 (if chips are ok , they won't require more voltage).1 point
