Hello everyone, We’re excited to share a major milestone from the Win2000_dev_community — we've successfully ported ACPI 2.0/NTOSKRNL Emu_Extender support to Windows 2000! 🎉 This achievement was made possible thanks to the incredible work of @Damnation, along with valuable assistance from Rairii, and valuable contributions from others in the community in testing and debugging issues along the way. ✅ As of now, the following are fully working on Windows 2000: Windows 7's NVMe driver Windows 8's USB3 driver Windows 8’s STORAHCI driver Windows 7's Storport.sys KMDF 1.11 support ⚠️ Known Issues: processr.sys does not function correctly due to differences in CPU throttling mechanisms between Windows 2000 and XP. ▸ This may be caused by the lack of PROCESSOR_STATE_HANDLER2 in Windows 2000 kernel, which only implements PROCESSOR_STATE_HANDLER. InsydeH2O BIOS is not fully tested yet. Currently, it still presents problems at the "Setup is starting Windows 2000" phase.1 point

After reading your post, I have checked the HideTabbarWithOneTab.uc.js script in Mypal 68.14.8b. You're right, it stopped working. As the code of this script is not really a brummer , I decided to write a new script from scratch. I have tested it, and it now seems to be working in the way as it should. I also solved the handling of the New Tab button If you are interested in, I am quite willing to upload it. Although I prefer the Alice0775 script loader, it even works with the xiaxiaoflood one. Mypal 68.14.7b is a quite stable release and has the advantage of still supporting the Nuchi-Sporif script loader.. Some errors have crept into @feodor2's new release Mypal 68.14.8b. The Add-on Manager is not fully functional, i.e. partially broken. Furthermore, the display of elements is not always as it was in the previous version. However, I would stay away from Mypal 68.14.5b. This one is neither fish nor fowl. If I wanted to use an older version, I would rather prefer Mypal 68.14.7b or Mypal 68.14.4b. But I use Mypal 68.14.8b at the moment. Regarding MediaFire, this service works fine here. No problems.1 point

There are some news on this topic. ------- The list of affected operating systems is now available in the help file: affected_operating_systems.png ------- I created the first prototype of an updater. It is capable of installing a new version of win32.sys and deinstalling it again: updater.png It comes in 24 languages, however, the end user will only see the language of the installed operating system. ------- First tests with the version 5.00.2196.0001V1 have shown, that the proposed solution is flawed. I documented my findings in the help file in the topic "version history" in the subtopic "version 1". ------- I have extracted 3 versions of win32k.sys from Windows Server 2008: Version 6.0.6002.18005 should contain a non fixed version of the function CreateXlateObject Version 6.0.6003.20665 should contain Microsoft's first attempt to fix the function CreateXlateObject Version 6.0.6003.20785 should contain Microsoft's second and final attempt to fix the function CreateXlateObject ------- My new suggestion would be to do a side-by-side comparison to figure out how Microsoft fixed this issue. There is a new version of code.htm online with some space to document the analysis. However, the cells are still empty. ------- That's all I got so far.1 point

I simply cannot stand Windows 11. What is there besides third party games that I can't do on even Windows XP? I remember back when Windows XP had an addition for legacy 9x PCs. Windows 8.1 functioned on even Pentium 4's. What happened to MS? Horrible UI, slow, bloated, buggy, lack of notable new features, why bother? I'm using Linux if I have to get a new PC.1 point

I meant your Nvidia Quadro M4000. What prevents you from using it with XP? Do you need drivers? D.Draker has them, I can ask. https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/quadro-m4000.c27571 point

After formatting the hard drive, I used this tool called WinNTSetup in a Windows PE environment, and then copied all of the Windows 2000 setup files (with SATA drivers, ofc) with the tool on to my hard drive. After a restart it just booted into the blue screen setup thing, and it did everything by itself. It worked, but the USB ports didn't. I eventually just got myself a better computer for this from eBay, but maybe you'd have more luck with it. it's been more than a year already, i doubt you're still working on it, but i hope it helps someone else at least1 point

And yes, sorry dear, CatsXP developer says your card is too old. sorry again. So apply the flag ASAP. I'm sure Dave's got a better card, that would explain a lot. Source. Thanks for the feedback. I read that this happens when the file is stored on a network drive or opened with an UNC path but it is supposed to work from a local disc. Anyway, it's just a few htm files and 1 css file compressed into a single chm file. It doesn't even contain java script or anything fancy. Todo: New Damage X (新DamageX) pointed out, that this issue could be related to ZDI-19-982. If this is true, then someone has found a way to exploit this issue to compromise security. Also, it would mean that there might be an official bug fix for newer versions of Windows out there which can be analysed to improve this update. I will check this soon. Edit: ZDI-19-982 leads to KB45252391 point

Just built a lightweight 98SE version of the patcher with only the basic functionality. I'd really appreciate some feedback, as I've only tested it on my old 98 SE (US version). A fully featured version of the patcher will be available at https://dsoemu.pages.dev/download/ gtx_fix98.zip1 point

Simple, just keep my Windows 10 PCs and keep using them until there's a reason to replace them. I'm not forking over 600 USD for another laptop for the exact same tasks as my Windows XP machines.1 point

Forget about this Import Wizard! Just copy all files of Mypal 68.14.3b about the old ones and open your last used profile when starting the browser! All data and also your bookmarks are inside your profile.1 point

@Dave-H For solving browser or other software problems related to drivers and/or services, you can use third-party tools. For example, the DriverView v1.51 tool from NirSoft to easily identify all third-party drivers. However, this tool can only list all drivers but doesn't let you delete or modify any of them. But you get an informative and quick overview. Contrary to it, the Service Manager 4.6 tool from foxplanet.de let you manage and delete all drivers and services. The latter is simply a great piece of software. You can list services and/or drivers in different ways to get a better overview. Try it and you will see yourself! Unfortunately, I hadn't installed it in my secondary, problematic Windows XP partition but only in my primary one. It would have been very helpful if I had consulted it regarding my Thorium issue.1 point

@Dave-H When my Thorium problem still existed, and this browser was crashing permanently, I was still able to open it with a link from a document by a single left-click. And all internal pages were accessible at any time. Furthermore, the Default Browser 1.8 tool successfully made Thorium my default browser. I suspect that something in your Windows XP installation is preventing all this. These culprits or perhaps still problematic registry entries seem to be causing this. Have you tried the Default Browser 1.8 tool at all? I hadn't seen any feedback from you.1 point

BTW, I have found in the c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\ folder other drivers that also originated from former security programmes and were not removed when their corresponding programmes were uninstalled. These are two SYS files, aswrdr.sys and aswsnx.sys, from Avast! Antivirus and the SYS file KeyCrypt32.sys from Zemana AntiLogger. They are all leftovers, i.e., these files were not removed by the uninstallers which came with their corresponding programmes. However, these drivers were not involved in the Thorium crashes. Nevertheless, they have absolutely no business in the Windows system folder drivers any longer. Thus, I removed them, too.1 point

Reformating and reinstalling normally means doing all from scratch and avoiding settings, which were done in the previous Windows installation to not get the same issue(s) as before. The problem is that I have tonnes of modifications, special settings and many other things in my partitions. That's why I work exclusively with my imaging system Norton Ghost 2003, which runs great on old computers like mine. On more recent ones, I use Acronis.1 point

And this one looks like a completely different matter, could be a copyright issue. Youtube is heavily protected like github.1 point

Could be because they now have an AI that limits non-technical posts per user? Just my guess.1 point
