  1. Just as I assumed! And that's why I prefer Windows 10 Firewall Control Plus XP when it comes to firewalls under Windows XP. Never had such problems. Most of computer problems are rather home-made.

  2. Size isn't the best measurement, FPS and benchmarks are. They could've just used another compression method when porting drivers originally written for Win10. Do you understand, there were no drivers specifically written for Vista/7 in ages. All they could do for us, e-waste peasants, at best, at their bench, just hack 'em so they will somehow work on older OS.

  3. Absolutely right! If you would ever need one, I can suggest 4.5 as the highest, not 4.5.1. 4.5 didn't show that much slowness on my 2009 PC.

  4. I specifically wrote about Intel and their employees, for them it's e-waste. It seems you get a bit agitated when it comes to not fully read/understood posts. Again, my PC is way older than yours. I bought it in 2009. For Intel, those two, yours and mine, are e-waste. They won't work and test drivers for our e-waste computers because they aren't paid to do so. Better?

  5. Works fine here. AdGuard lists have been updated successfully just now by uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.35 in New Moon 28. So, I can't confirm your observation.

  6. I just stated facts. I do not make it look anything. But you didn't mention in your previous posts which version of AdNauseam you was using, what advantages this extension might have over uBO that prompted you to install it and which UXP browser you was actually talking about. And any Chrome/Chromium experiences and CRX extensions are indeed offtopic here and misleading. No more, no less.

  7. And don't forget the about:networking link (somebody posted that in this thread, forget who, that's a new and very useful tool to keep in your quiver).

  8. These first-launch DNS hits look like TELEMETRY to me! But sure, it's an improvement to most Firefox/Mozilla Forks. I would stick with IceCat *if* I was forced to use a Mozilla Fork. Thankfully, I'm not forced to use them. To each their own, of course. And the so-called "portable" version added an entry to my start menu, entries to my registry, and what appears to be a UNIQUE ID FOLDER inside ProgramData. Which is why I only try inside a fresh/clean VM. I can now delete this VM as its cleanliness has been compromised.

  9. I think this has taken the previous discussion slightly out of context. Sure, I'll grant you that some folks (not me!) rely heavily on "getting updates" (be it fully automatic or manual) - I see that itself as FEAR-MONGERING, some form of "update or else" side of the same coin! But it seems to me that the previous discussion was more to do with a fully functioning, fast and efficient Windows 10. And not "telemetry" in and of itself. The XP folks probably remember the popularity of this and perhaps even carried it over to their 10/11 via this, but make no mistake, removing "spy" features of our OS-of-choice is something most of us have been doing for DECADES.

  10. Same here, I put My Computer in the corner, recycle bin beneath it, then the *REAL* IE icon beneath it (not a "shortcut", the *REAL* IE icon!). I don't have IE "installed" on my computers (my computers are intentionally configured WITHOUT any "default web browser"), but the *REAL* IE icon has a context menu for Internet Properties that I access on occasion. As for Shift-Delete - yes, that is an option, but I am ambidextrous and want to do everything with the MOUSE as much as possible. Sure, it may only be 3 times out of 10, but why drop the soldering iron, or oscilliscope probe, or cordless screwdriver just so that I can have one hand on the mouse and another on the keyboard? 9 times out of 10, I delete from context menus and not the keyboard. Unless I'm typing, I have no use for the keyboard.

  11. They surely should've given us that option.

  13. Xp was peanuts. With a mediocre firewall, and by using the original Norwegian Opera, one could do just fine. Won 10 has so much processes, and numerous loggers running from the kernel. Could you slim down the kernel?

  14. That's not enough. Especially for 10 and 11. If you want an OS without telemetry, you MUST remove "defender" , "smartscreen", "security center", and WINDOWS UPDATE. If you cannot bring yourself to using an OS that doesn't "update itself", then you (collective pronoun!) are "talking from both sides of your mouth" regarding TELEMETRY. I think what MANY of us forget is that it took us DECADES to get XP (just an example) to "behave" the way we wanted it to. But then we "expect" 10 (or 11) to compete with those "decades of fixes" we did with XP. I cite XP from personal experience. XP had bloat. XP was spyware! Look up the history of "Alexa" and the way that XP [SP2+] handled IE downloads and Outlook Express attachments! We just figured out how to remove the bloat and spyware.

  16. I agree with that. You can still surf well with New Moon 28 (and Serpent too). And I can confidently do without the overloaded, newfangled and resource-hungry pages in the UXP browsers.

  17. It probably depends on what sites you visits. Still using PM for real and despite rantings, I don't switch to any other browser permanently. Guess it's the attachment to the setup I made in the older Firefox days, which admittedly is a bit outdated due to useful extensions being abandoned, but with other browsers I'm just bothered by other things, so sticking to what I'm used to. UXP is at its all time best as far as web compatibility goes.

  18. New versions after 4.6.2, or even after 4.5, will slow down a dated PC to a crawl. Did you see the amount of files Net 4.7.2 installs? P.S. More importantly, serious software doesn't need it. I wonder why nVidia doesn't need it, and Intel does, what for? Just to show their primitive/simplistic and ugly UI?

  19. AdNauseam v3.7.802 is the last version for legacy Firefox browsers. It is from 28.09.2018 and based on uBlock Origin 1.15.24 which is of course older than the last, official (legacy) version uBlock Origin 1.16.4.30 or 1.16.4.31b2. So, what are the advantages supposed to be?
    1 point
  20. As far as a more up-to-date version of uBO is concerned, I'm with you although uBlock Origin Legacy still works fine. And a more up-to-date script manager would also be great. YouTube works great with VORAPIS V3. And you don't have to open every piece of crap with the UXP browsers. That's what tablets and smartphones are for.

  21. If anyone is wondering why I am bothering to post the issues with these extensions here, then the answer is very simple. I think the Speed Dial, Tab Utilities and also Session Manager extensions are important and worth keeping. I have been using them for years and would hate to see them go. This thread is dedicated to legacy extensions, and I hope that there is some way to make these particular extensions fully functional again. Be it that code changes are made to the UXP browsers or that the extensions are fixed.

  22. I can't really say whether the problem also occurs in Pale Moon (32-bit or 64-bit ), as I don't use this browser. It was also just a guess. In any case, the Speed Dial 0.9.6.18 and Tab Utilities 2.1.2 extensions in the latest New Moon 28 32-bit release definitely break the session restore function on my Windows XP system. The Session Manager extension only generates some errors in the Browser Console but is still working so far. @UCyborg For reproducing this issue, it is simply enough to only use either Speed Dial or Tab Utilities. So, for example, disable Tab Utilities and Session Manager, start latest New Moon 28 (32-bit), close some tabs and restart the browser. Then you should actually notice that the already closed tabs are still there which means the internal session (re)store does not work anymore if Speed Dial is enabled. You should also see the error message "ReferenceError: nsIWebNavigation is not defined" in the Browser Console when closing tabs from the current browser session. The more tabs you close, the more error messages you will get. At least, that's what I observe in dirty or clean New Moon 28 (most recent version) profiles on my Windows XP 32-bit computer. And I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one affected by this issue. Maybe, other members may also confirm this issue.

  23. Oh, and before you ban me, think how the alleged billionaire Durov with those 15officially declared billions can't even allow himself an own jet, and rents it? Come on, really? Now seek for Saudi Arabia Durov's connections and who funded all his projects, those all will link to Russia. He doesn't control "his" money, Durov is a simple boot (for those who aren't familiar with slang, it means soldier).

  24. "Ousted" is the wrong word here. When someone works for the FSB, he follows the legend given by the curators. So, he simply moved further, onto Telegram, but then again, even Telegram gave out real people identities to the Russia secret police. There are well known ones among them, plenty of proof (even photographed docs) were placed on Twitter by those prosecuted. It's literally all over the internet. Some 7 years ago a Russian woman was granted political asylum in EU. I'm actually against those "asylums", those individuals are recruited by the FSB and planted to Europe. Clear as day play. Of course, there were ones that have nothing to do with the FSB, simple peasants to manufacture cases for the Russia police work. I'm sure we have FSB shills even here, on MSFN. Russia actually played very good in terms of polluting and controlling the internet, media and software. (Google founder born in Moscow, Russia, what else is there to say?) Never underestimate your enemy. Fun fact is Russia has zero of their own hardware, not even a single CPU, our Western tech is used against us. Very welcome to give me a warning/ban/whatever, don't care, but you asked yourself.

  25. Important to mention, making this a standalone post. Those jailed ones were not committing real crimes (in contrast to the ones Durov is being accused of). They are punished for the disagreement with Russia's policies.

  26. But Durov's VK did accept those demands of the Russian government, there are literally tons of criminal cases against Russian citizens based on their posts in VK. VK gave out all info, including real addressees to the Russian FSB, plenty of arrests were made, then followed by criminal prosecution. Also, Durov made it even worse, without any announcement, he simply sold the VK platform to another Kremlin/FSB controlled oligarch. People were getting jailed for several yeras old posts. It's all publicly known. I obviously shan't post any links, those all are easy to find, I don't want to be falsely blamed for "involving politics into forum" nonsense, so I digress.

  28. Thank you , it worked ! Though there are warning messages (huge) , right at the start "this flag is not supported" (they are lying , of course , it is definitely supported, otherwise it wouldn't work, they just want everyone on Win10) , and the second huge and long banner "...you're on Vista or XP..." they are EXTREMELY annoying and on white background , which is insane . Extensions won't load , even unpacked with this error "Default locale ... bla , bla , bla ... couldn't be loaded". and something about manifest. I was not going to use this "browser" with such ugly interface anyway , it's just for testing purposes , because others have asked.

  30. Hi , I think I found what' going on, several functions are missing from your file : RtlLookupFunctionEntry , RtlPcToFileHeader , RtlUnwindEx , RtlVirtualUnwind (these seems to be the most inportant) . I wasn't sleeping and I've tried to add files from W7 , no success , but the error chanded to "0xC00000FD" . After several unsuccessful launches , I placed back your files and just opened the .exe with Dependency walker to confirm , yep missing. Edit 1 : also the game wants these : RtlCompareMemory , TryAcquireSRWLockShared , LdrWx86FormatVirtualImage , NtWow64WriteVirtualMemory64 NtWow64QueryInformationProcess64 , NtWow64ReadVirtualMemory64 , RtlExtendedLargeIntegerDivide , RtlInitializeExceptionChain , RtlSetUserCallbackExceptionFilter _alldiv , _allmul, _alloca_probe , _allshl , _aulldiv , _aulldvrm , _aullrem , _chkstk Edit 2 : It seems to me the game is protected with steam libraries , and steam makes these calls to those in the "Edit 1" section.

  31. I have just copied the whole game folder to another disk (not the system HDD) and now it doesn't want K32EnumProcessModulesEx in KERNEL32.dll anymore ! Now it says 0xC000007B all over again , like many other games. Edit : tried to run as admin , all the same. Actually redirection somewhat works , but there is this brick wall with 0xC000007B. Edit : this is the official DEMO, NONE of the files are modified.
    1 point
  32. Yes , of course . Actually redirection somewhat works , but not the point of actually working . I mean, before I made the redirection, many games demonstrated absolutely another type of errors .
