  2. Starting September the 12th, foreign services will cease operating in Russia due to U.S. Treasury sanctions prohibiting the supply of software and IT services to anyone in Russia. If someone still thinks to supply software to a Russian/ Russian citizen, or consultant with the software usage, etc, be warned. "SOFTWARE AND IT-RELATED SERVICES PROHIBITIONS In coordination with the U.S. Department of Commerce and in line with G7 efforts to disrupt the Russian military-industrial base’s reliance on foreign IT systems, Treasury has taken steps to restrict the Russian military-industrial base’s access to certain software and IT-related services. To implement this policy, Treasury, in consultation with the Department of State, has issued a new determination under Executive Order (E.O.) 14071, which prohibits the supply to any person in the Russian Federation of (1) IT consultancy and design services; and (2) IT support services and cloud-based services for enterprise management software and design and manufacturing software. The determination will take effect on September 12, 2024. " More info at home.treasury.gov. https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/jy2404

  3. What about my "views", and how do they matter? MSFN members from the US can't supply Russians with any form of software or IT services, starting from the 12th of September, what is so hard to understand?

  4. Hi, Today, I broke rockstar launcher artificial block. Since I can't link you anything, you need to do the modification yourself. Get your hands on rockstar games launcher version 1-0-83 and install it. DO NOT open it! Make the folder read-only and restrict yourself and all Administrators from write permissions. Delete launcherpatcher.exe and run the launcher.exe, let it install socialclub and if for some reason it gets stuck on installing social club, just download the latest one and install it. We are not done, now you'll see an error complaining about missing dependencies. Download CEF explorer and locate social club folder. open socialclubhelper head into import directory and select user32.dll change adjustwindowrectexfordpi to adjustwindowrectex. and that's everything. To be able to play gta v for example, you need to locate playgtav.exe before the artificial block, even versions from 2020 works since the are just a stub. https://prnt.sc/2Ucu5Np45BM5

  5. The dawn of the BD era would be MPEG2, not VC-1, and I've seen a lot of BD disks, too. The trend to use AVC started when they were re-releasing the old films over and over again, "remastered" bloated with fake grain, etc. XP era hardware would have a hard time playing those bloated AVC streams at 50mbps,

  6. Most original Blu-Rays sold in Europe with popular films are VC-1 in ts container, Nightmare On Elm Street 1984 would be a good example.

  9. Not very trustworthy as the integrated version is very old. I believe it is version 3.21. This SystemInfo Explorer version was not able to indicate the correct memory size in my system. It says 2 GB instead of the correct value of 1.5 GB. BTW, the last Windows XP compatible version is 4.48.

  13. VC-1 is disabled by default in LAV?!?!?! Are they crazy? It's the default format for BluRay disks. How is this possible? Probably, you wanted to say it's disabled in MPC-BE, the enemy of old OS? I just can't comprehend who would want to compromise the common BluRay disk standard playback...

  14. I'd gladly help you, but I don't have a high end CPU or PC. My most "powerful" is Pentium G from 2013? 2014? Supposedly, I can push it hard (overclock to the max.), but them again, it's not far from that old Quad Core.

  16. I basically only do stability tests and hardware tests to make sure that hardware components are OK and running well in the system. The last time, I did a burn-in test was when I modified the BIOS on my old Athlon XP machine as regular BIOS updates were abandoned many years ago. I replaced the SATA module integrated in the motherboard BIOS with a newer version and then flashed my modded BIOS back. After that, some tests were necessary to check the stability and functionality.

  17. Yep, that's right. The main reason for it was that your computer is nearly 10 years younger than mine. My computer (and by that I mean its motherboard) is from 2000. And your DDR2-RAM is actually much faster than my very slow SD-RAM. However, the test results are a bit strange as a computer many years younger actually should be faster.

  18. A PCMark Score of 2089 vs 1412. The values are not particularly far apart which means my PC is only a bit faster than yours. Right?

  19. Yep! I did the same but then I read the software requirements. As I am not interested in downgrading my Windows Media Player, I have uninstalled PCMark04 after one unsuccessful run.
    1 point
  20. Keep in mind that PCMark04 requires Windows Media Player 9 (and not higher) whereas PCMark05 requires Windows Media Player 10 or higher.

  21. PCMark05 is a very sensitive software and also seems to have problems on certain computers if all tests are to be performed. Here are my test results so far: After various tests, changes and corrections in my system, I was able to run all the tests from System Test Suite successfully. Here is my missing PCMark Score: Although all tests from all categories can be run now successfully on my system, the software does not manage to run them all at once. This indicates a bug in the programme, which is probably only noticeable on certain systems.

  26. @VL Sorry but I keep thinking it's your own decision to waste that time, after first experiences. I know it's not quite easy to suppress an urge to reply anyway. I do highly appreciate all the help you give, it really is extremely useful, also for later readers. What I just personally find rather sad in todays world is that real trolls, who only post to disrupt and attack and offend, and enjoy it, never get any trouble, quite the opposite, instead it's usually kind people who never do any harm who get hunted for no crimes at all.
