Due to my nature, I hate wrong values. I am like a rock in the surf (German saying). BTW, from a statistical point of view, the sample size is too small for any meaningful conclusions.3 points

@Sampei.Nihira doesn't know that. He has nothing to back it up, otherwise you'd get the answer already. The user simply ignores when asked to point to the source. There's a big possibility of chatting with a kid who's simply having fun on the other side of the cable. Let's see why, you asked him to back his info up, give links, etc, of course no proof followed, as usual.3 points

Oops! That was me? Ok. I can live with that. The good is I've found several problems which are now all fixed. BTW, this was my very first benchmark test. In general, I am not particularly interested in such tests.3 points

BTW, the development of MHC-HC is ruined, by my personal opinion, the author gets vision problems, with each and every new version, it gets brighter, more contrast, etc.2 points

I basically only do stability tests and hardware tests to make sure that hardware components are OK and running well in the system. The last time, I did a burn-in test was when I modified the BIOS on my old Athlon XP machine as regular BIOS updates were abandoned many years ago. I replaced the SATA module integrated in the motherboard BIOS with a newer version and then flashed my modded BIOS back. After that, some tests were necessary to check the stability and functionality.2 points

Yep, that's right. The main reason for it was that your computer is nearly 10 years younger than mine. My computer (and by that I mean its motherboard) is from 2000. And your DDR2-RAM is actually much faster than my very slow SD-RAM. However, the test results are a bit strange as a computer many years younger actually should be faster.2 points

Not very trustworthy as the integrated version is very old. I believe it is version 3.21. This SystemInfo Explorer version was not able to indicate the correct memory size in my system. It says 2 GB instead of the correct value of 1.5 GB. BTW, the last Windows XP compatible version is 4.48.1 point

Those era notes usually had 8MB of real VRAM, the rest was borrowed from the system.1 point

Just for clarification. There was nothing "bumped". My thread "General and specific solutions for problems regarding AU/WU/MU in Windows XP " gets updates and new information when necessary. I am kind enough to share my experience with people. And using MU/WU does not mean that all offered updates have to be applied. It's up to the user to decide which updates are wanted and which not. No need to install all updates. So, I don't understand your objection at all. However, my Windows XP always gets all necessary updates. And that's a good thing.1 point

A PCMark Score of 2089 vs 1412. The values are not particularly far apart which means my PC is only a bit faster than yours. Right?1 point

Hey, XP will run GTX 960 only on desktop because XP doesn't support "optimus" (switching between integrated and dedicated cards) on laptops. Do you have a function to choose between cards in BIOS?1 point

Just an update. I have now indeed uninstalled Google Chrome from Windows 10, and I've installed Supermium 126 x64 instead, as the default browser. It works fine, and I've now got uBlock Origin back again! I've also updated my Supermium x86 installation on XP to version 126, all good. I'm still using Thorium 122 as the default browser on XP.1 point

Durov completed training at the military faculty of St. Petersburg State University in the propaganda filed, served as platoon commander in the Russian Armed Forces, Senior Lieutenant.1 point

And you were right! The word is stolen from Italian, "Telegramma" (means letter in English), Durov's curators clearly had a very poor imagination and far below average marketing skills. It's frequently the case when one is on state service. Right, why bother? The funding will come anyways.1 point

Fantastic translation! @AstroSkipper is fluent in French! I'm very proud of you, @AstroSkipper. As for the second part, Durov is a French citizen, probably not everyone knows. So he'd br extradited to France anyways, most likely. https://www.lemonde.fr/en/france/article/2023/06/26/the-telegram-founder-s-mysterious-french-passport_6037748_7.html "Pavel Durov, the head of the controversial messaging app, was granted French citizenship in 2021..."1 point

Hi, I'm just coming to this thread as I am now facing Microsoft cutting off my client's access to my Hotmail account on September 16th, and am wondering what to do. My desktop runs Windows XP, and I am still using Outlook Express after having found a way to update TLS on XP a year or two ago. Now, though, I am getting wrong password warnings about half the time as MS give notice that all is not well as they prepare to deny service to clients without Modern Auth. I'd be grateful to hear from other contributors whether any of the aforementioned programs will work with MS accounts after September. OE Classic looks like the best bet at the moment, as the program appears to be fully supported and updated. The makers state that it functions on all Windows from 2000 to 11, that it looks like Outlook Express and accepts Outlook Express message stores, and that it was upgraded with Modern Auth two years ago. It is also said to be very light on resources. I'd be glad to read any informed comments on the subject. At the time that MS was requiring the TLS upgrade, it offered a legacy server for those unable to comply. I am nurturing a faint hope that this server might continue to work with Basic Auth after the others cease to do so. It's frustrating that MS do not seem to be offering such an alternative means of access this time, particularly as some other service providers will continue to work with Basic Auth for the time being.1 point

This is a continuation of my previous nVidia tutorial, but this time I decided to do it for folks with the extended kernel by @win32! As we know, the last officially supported driver was from the early May of 2016. This one is from 2017 ! Some may say it's a miracle , you betcha ! This driver was tested and confirmed fully working on 600, 700, 900 and 1000 series. Except the cheapest GT1030. You need the ex-kernel installed, I tested on a clean Vista with the updates up to 03.2019.+ the kernel. It's not allowed to share modded copyright protected material here, hence the new topic with the precise instructions follows. Tools you need :Driver Signature Enforcement Override, Universal Extractor and any HEX editor you like. I vote for the 398.11. I tried it on another mobo today and no problems found. Would be great to have its original NVCPL working, of course. Also, I can now confirm it works with GT1030. Someone from your friends tried GTX Titan XP with 398.11 ? I only have the X variant, not XP. Thanks.1 point

Results : 391.35 works fine, but I didn't like the way it represents the colours and its contrast is way too high. Otherwise - fine ! 399.24 is one hell of a glitchy piece of crap. Interferes with my good ol' sound card. It booted up fine (without the NVCPL, of course) . Played a DX11 game for 1 hour fine. Then started to watch Octopussy 1983 using MPC-HC and look at the crash errors. (TDR had happened) Happens at random intervals. Also 399 doesn't like Chrome.1 point
-
This orb problem had happened once for me also, then I quickly understood it was due to the fact the NVCPL couldn't start because of the missing 345 (0x0159) "N/A" in COMCTL32.DLL. If I install only the driver (without the CPL), all is fine.1 point

I see, thanks , I think I wrote I already tried the iCafe 390.xx (77 ?) and it's too old already. Regarding games, nothing major between 390-391. Could you elaborate on hit and miss ? Apart from the non-working panel, no troubles for me . But the panel doesn't start and we know why. Maybe wait for the new kernel then ? Or you want me to mod the hell out of it so we could use it without the kernel ? I'm afraid the new tutorial would be too complicated for some folks then.1 point
