You should use New Moon 28 or Serpent 52 in combination with uBlock Origin Legacy and suitable filter lists enabled. A more recent user agent can't hurt, either. Mypal 29 and Firefox 52 are much too old.4 points

GPU-Z also says it supports DirectX12 on Vista?! Really? It's great, then!3 points

First of all, the most recent version is MyPal 68.14.3b. So, why do you want to install an older one? Regarding the updating of Mypal 68, there is no updater. You simply copy all new files over the old ones, or you create a new programme folder. Via the profile manager, you can call up your old profile, or you can create a fresh one. In any case, all has to be done manually. Personally, I usually edit my profile.ini file manually to my needs. If you create a fresh profile, you can copy, for example, your bookmarks file from your old profile to the new one. The same applies to other important files so that your data is not lost.2 points

Indeed, it would be interesting to see what kind of Windows XP projects you made so far. Did you already release some of your projects, for example, on GitHub? Are your projects open source?2 points

Did you also try the most recent version Mypal 68.14.3b? As @feodor2 mentioned in a previous post, he has made a lot of changes and corrections in this new version.2 points

One more cosmetic issue: Win+X menu appears away from the screen border (I have taskbar auto-hide set), which looks a bit weird.1 point

WSUS Offline Update 9.2.6 does not do anything good from scratch under Windows XP in these days. So, I modified the DownloadUpdates.cmd file in line 206 located in the sub folder cmd where I added an additional option to the downloader wget.exe: set DLDR_PATH=..\bin\wget.exe --no-check-certificate Furthermore, I replaced the wget.exe file by the last XP-compatible version 1.19.4. Then, I configured WSUS Offline Update 9.2.6 to use ProxHTTPSProxy to avoid any possible connection problems, especially certificate related. But one can also try to download all updates without it, of course. And I inserted the last XP-compatible version Sigcheck 2.30 to avoid any verification problems although I didn't enable the option "Verify downloaded updates". And what shall I say? WSUS Offline Update 9.2.6 still works under Windows XP even today. Of course, only if such modifications were done I listed above. Here is my log generated after a successful download of German Windows XP updates under the OS Windows XP : TBH, I did all that here to show that even today these updates can be downloaded under Windows XP. Personally, I do not need to download those updates anymore as I already did it in 2014, 2019 and 2022. And I archived all installed updates I got from Windows Update from the very first including all POSReady updates. Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

All fine. Also nothing personal from my side. As you can see I'm not much active here. I'm here for 2 years with just few posts and half of them in last days in this topic. That's why I don't know about the haters. I also know that the original vxkex developer got account here, but looks like he was not much active here recently. But with my reply I just wanted to make it clean, that the first "fake" post was made by me, but there is easy way to verify it is not somehow tampered at least in this case if it's also on web archive. And even that fake one deleted now got the binaries binary the same as the original. You can still verify that on web archive here: https://web.archive.org/web/20240723221328/https://github.com/VxKex/VxKex/releases But I fully agree with you, that everybody needs to be cautious when installing anything from internet and specially if it's new or unknown source and the target software got high level of system access.1 point

I got a driver from 8 march 2019 working. https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=23.20.826.9472 It is actually a driver with from early 2018, but patched with fixes till 2019, so all the issues of the driver being just bad should be resolved. I actually still sometimes fails to load on startup and hangs, but I don't think this can be resolved in the inf file or if it's actually driver's fault and not running on Ryzen (this hang is not a BSOD but idk). The performance is better that with the old driver. After the startup the driver is 100% stable with feature set described in one of my previous posts. To install it I'm using modified version of this Acer OEM inf from the previous post so it's not based on @Cannoncong's inf except for one fix that he figured out: I'm going to release the modified driver soon as I don't think anything else can be improved without modifying the .sys files.1 point

Good! Thanks for coming out with the confession, then the supervisor will keep an eye on you, too.1 point

Oh, and win 8.0 might be too old for the 2022 redist. But then again, try locally.1 point

Why would you ever need to install that bloat? Just use them locally. See what VC file your game asks you to have and place it in the game folder.1 point

Oh, and we also would need to figure out what suitable punishment to apply to you if nothing happens.1 point

I had to restart Vivaldi after installing RC3 but they are working now! They also look great by the way, nice styling @Tihiy!1 point

I've never heard of these browsers before, but if we assume they are based on Firefox, here you go: "User agent override in firefox". https://www.whatismybrowser.com/guides/how-to-change-your-user-agent/firefox1 point

Yep, a bit strange. But as I have already described, my 360Chrome 13.5 Build 1030 Redux initially also reported no secure connection to the website https://chi.uk2.net/ using ProxHTTPSProxy, i.e. no green padlock. Only after I had deleted all certificates in the Certs folder and updated the cacert.pem certificate inside the ProxHTTPSProxy installation, 360Chrome immediately reported a secure connection after a restart and showed the green padlock. However, recognising valid certificates has always been a problem in almost all 360Chrome versions for Windows XP. TBH, I very rarely use 360Chrome only to check sites for browser compatibility. I generally surf with Mypal 68 (is now running great ) and New Moon 28, and I try to open the more modern, very bloated sites with Thorium. If all else fails, I use my Android tablet.1 point

Hi @TheLeftOldComputer! Many antimalware programmes are no longer compatible with Windows XP but ClamWin has always been. Unfortunately, it does not have a real-time protection. Only an additional tool called Clam Sentinel which has no longer been developed for years and never was a good one. It could only use ClamWin to scan downloaded files. So what about a programme based on the open source ClamAV with its virus definition databases which offers real-time protection? Or a fork of ClamWin with real-time protection and still compatible with CPU's only having the instruction set SSE? Kind regards, AstroSkipper1 point

Wow! I knew it! This new member now posts fake programmes. The account with the nick @lll888. I'd like to notify @Tripredacus. It's already quite a lot of posts that member made with dubious software and batch scripts, now this link to fake Kernel.1 point

Thank you very much for the investigation, I felt like something fishy was going on there. I'll upvote tomorrow (I'm out of likes, they are limited).1 point

Probably, the same case as with the forceful takedown of Supermium. Guys, someone knows, does it support Win7 without the bloated SP1?1 point

Great progress! As far as I could see, Mypal 68 runs now more smoothly. Hope you can fix the plugins (flash) issue in the next release.1 point

@Tripredacus, it's a new spammer Dixel wrote about, not related to the earlier banned figure. There's an influx of similar clones with generic names and early 2000s pics, with spam details in the bio, or "about me", That particular one promotes a social or dating app.1 point

Look at 1.42.X. Fast, overall. 1.26 seems to allow some ads to slip through.1 point

Not to mention, classic UBO allows users to add custom filter rules by clicking on web page elements, which is great, does Ublock Lite allow it?1 point
-
Why would I need to over-complicate my life with DNS level stuff? Isn't this product aimed at ordinary users? Hence the name "Lite". It doesn't look light.1 point

Ublock Origin Lite is disappointing since I can't add my own custom filters. Not to mention that Fanboy Annoyance is now split into multiple smaller lists under the umbrella of EasyList. I don't recommend this product,1 point
